All was a still as any day on the shore could be. Water rolled in and out, scouring the sands clean while tumbling shells and stones and fragments of plants and signs of animal life within its shallowest reaches. Wind tossed the crests of small waves into froth, and played with the strands of a titan's mane.

Motionless he stood, knee and hock deep in the shallows where an outcropping of stone created a breakwater, leaving a still pool in which he now stood, casting his shadow over the area. Golden eyes were alert as he watched the small fishes that sheltered in his shadow, brushing against the dark fur of his legs. He was aware of them brushing against his tail as well, but it was what lay closest to his forehand that kept his attention centered. A series of larger fishes lazily patrolled the pool, using his wings that he'd allowed to extend and settle into the water, leading edge resting on the sandy bottom, as locations to stage ambushes.

None were aware that the oddly-shaped pillars they swam around were anything but stone, none aware that a greater ambush was being staged. Indeed, had they suspected a horse within their midst, none would have expected that horse to have a murderous appetite at times. Now was one such, and utter patience was being employed. In slow increments his head bowed closer to the water, breathing slow and measured so as not to disturb the water's surface overmuch.

Then... there! Jaws snapped forward and closed on a lithe, scaly body as one of the larger fishes sought to catch a foolish small fish that had swum up to investigate the ripples around a whisker that had touched the water. Briney blood and bitter water washed the stallion's tongue as he jerked his head up and clamped his teeth to shatter bone and still the frantic struggles of a predator turned prey in a moment it had least expected. No attention was spared to watch fish scatter into hiding as the hybrid deftly flicked the corpse upward to slowly spin in the air. No bird was ballsy enough to dare a frying this day, so the fish fell unmolested into the waiting jaws that then crunched satisfyingly through scale and bone and flesh. Scraps fell, luring the more daring fish to venture from hiding and risk being snapped up in turn.

But the bronze and copper stallion had turned his gaze upward instead, ears pricked to catch any whisper of familiar sound while he chewed and swallowed his snack. It crossed his mind to go on a real hunt, but the rare treat of fresh fish held him here for now.
