An ear twitched as he watched her, golden eyes observant to the changes that came over the petite chocolate mare. An intensity entered her gaze as she looked to him after he spoke. Something stirred within him in response, bringing a new air of alertness to his posture even as a smile crossed the Resolute's features. Muscles flexed and rippled as he shifted in instinctive response to her drawing closer, leathery sails rustling as the ribbing that supported them bent and shifted while he contemplated his opponent in new silence.

She was small, much smaller than himself. He knew she would be tremendously more agile than himself, able to dodge and weave about him with little effort. It would take clever and deliberate tactics to possibly get the better of her. At this point he would be content to end this spar by earning her respect, in however a small a dose that may come.

And then it begun, as he'd half-expected it to. She surged forward toward him, swift and enthusiastic. His ears swept forward and slitted pupils narrowed as he judged her speed and trajectory. There, she veered toward her left, but not far enough to clear his bulk. Meant to slam him, did she? He was well aware he'd not be able to step out of the way with any efficiency. So he deliberately stepped into her body slam, putting his weight and a bit of extra momentum into the impact. Pain flared into his awareness as unprotected flesh was bruised by an crushing force that was greater than Kri had initially planned. A soft grunt escaped the hybrid steed from the flare of pain, yet at the same time he set his own set of attacks into motion.

His right wing lifted out of reach of any potential bite that might be launched toward its relatively vulnerable expanse. His right hind lifted in a strike forward and out, not entirely meant to land a blow, instead to provide an obstacle to hinder Kri's forward charge, perhaps trip her up. And then he swept his tail toward her to provide a further obstacle. Its natural height would put it quite close toward the sky-ward climbing pegasus' chest, the sharp spade at its tip a hazard to avoid. He didn't bother trying to bite, not inclined to try reach that far down in time to catch flesh and not fleeting wisps of hair, so the swish of her tail slapped uselessly against his chest. A new flare of pain erupted from his right fore as her quick kick glanced off his cannon. His shift toward her had thrown off the intended aim, catching skin and taking it away instead of striking squarely.

A small smile curved Vikram's lips as he swung around in a left-ward circle. This was a challenge that he was starting to enjoy. Few of such short stature bothered to try fighting him. His armored chest and belly often discouraged equines and unicorns, the potential of his size and weight worried opponents that weren't sure how to slip past the defense of teeth and hoof and wing and tail. That Kri did... enthused him. Half flaring his wings, he held his right fore up as though more seriously wounded than he actually was, deciding if he wanted to pursue her in the sky.
