The egg, having been lovingly cared for in the flames suddenly began to quiver and quake. Flaming veins began to pulse more frequently, shining through the soft, creamy exterior. It began to shimmer brightly and shake violently.
Suddenly and shockingly, the egg collapsed into a heap of ash as if dead. Minutes of silence followed the seeming destruction before a small cry muffled from the grey, chalky dust. Very carefully, a small, tiny beak pushed through the ash, vibrant, flaming plumage taking to the light moments later.
The phoenix was small, but beautiful. From the minute it looked into Tares eyes, it knew that it was home. From that moment on, the phoenix would be loyal to Tares and all of her allies.
