Like two boulders they crashed, massive frames unrelenting as they found each other physically. Kaj huffed out a soft noise as the breath that had once rested in his lungs was forced out his muzzle. Shoulder and hip protested at the sudden force presented to them, smarting a bit. At least my wing was spared.

Everything after that was momentum. Honestly he didn't want to get kneed or kicked in the face, but he wasn't going to stand for the old timer ridiculing him. He would win his respect or walk away bleeding. Anger and determination fueled him at these thoughts, and when his teeth found flesh he dug them in. Iron flashed into his mouth; blood. It wasn't substantial, but it was enough to make him dizzy with the familiar tang. A squeal fled Maskan's throat, and Kaj jumped in surprise. Maskan was moving back to get away from the pain, a natural instinct Kaj had faced a thousand times before. However he really did not want to get a face full of hoof, so he let his own crown move skyward. The surge that had brought him into Maskan had vanished when they'd collided, and he had to force himself to move with the momentum gone. However shoving Maskan away had proven to be a smart move, and he similarly shoved himself backwards- though not quickly enough, as the wild snapping of teeth clipped the top of his right wing, right along the bone where his marginal coverts lay. The thin bone protested sharply. Anger flashed in azure eyes, fleeting. Composing his face quickly enough, knowing not to let Maskan rile him up. If Kaj let that happen, then all rational thought would flee and strategy would no longer matter.

He sobered himself with that thought, not wanting irritation to force him out of the competition. So when Maskan set blazing apricot eyes on him, Kaj stared passively back. Glaring and huffing wasn't his thing, and so kept quiet. The words went right over him, and he merely offered a blink in return to the insult. Old man isn't very creative.

Movement. But this time, Kaj had space and time to prepare. Maskan was charging head-on, and he widened his stance to prepare for yet another collision. Wings tucked close to his sides, the right one aching at the movement. Like hell he was going to let Maskan get at them again. The wind was blowing towards him, and though the sand stinging his face at random intervals was not desirable, at least his forelock was no longer whipping his face. Cocoa hooves planted themselves into the sand. It came fast, a bite aimed far too close to his neck. Instinct took hold before he could stop, crown snapping up to avoid a blow that did not come. It's a fucking trick! Kaj was not one to curse, but was mostly upset at himself for not catching on. Minute narrowing of his eyes belied his frustration.

The rear Maskan went up into was prepared better, but Kaj would not allow his spine to be within reach. They were both tall, and Maskan having new height on him vertically made him alert to how easily his spine could be snapped. It didn't cross his mind that this was just a spar; too many wars had been fought, deaths seen. He was used to people trying to kill him. So Kaj rose to meet him, though not nearly as high from lack of preparation. Forelegs struck out towards Maskan's chest, but it seemed the other's pillars had a similar idea. Pain went streaking down his lower right shoulder to his knee, and he screamed. He landed sooner, and the flash of pain that traveled up his leg into his shoulder made him grimace and push weight onto his left leg. It ended up helping, for when Maskan slammed into him, Kaj knew he had to move or risk staying too still. Moving with the motion instead of against it, he wheeled off to the left. Teeth scraped his right lower neck due to this movement, and he hissed at the small sting. The injured right wing, aching slightly at the top, rose high and went crashing down towards Maskan's head. Kaj put as much weight into it as he could, hoping to smash it down onto the other man's crown while his teeth were still near his neck. As Kaj did this he turned even further to the left, planting front legs into the sand and coiling up, bucking out as hard as he could towards Maskan's ribs and flank. Pain flashed up his leg at the motion, shaking slightly, but he ignored it to the best of his ability, needing to follow through the entire motion.

Had to go down from 1,112 this time. You're killing me lady! This is like my first ever serious spar so hope I'm not too terrible?
