Rae had finally lost Ru; Ru, her shadow, her constant bother, her love, her twin. As much as she adored Hotaru, although she would never say so, she was glad to have snuck off on her own. Sneaking away from the Woods at midnight, careful not to wake Momma, Ru, Stella, or Auntie Kota, Rae had begun her first real adventure.

Real, because for the first time, Rae was alone.

Under the twinkling stars, the nearly-white palomino moved gracefully away from the Woods, heading East. She was a breathtaking sight, cloaked in twilight, her opalescent horn shimmering softly in the moonlight. Rae was already quite a delicate looking filly, having inherited quite slender and lean lines from both of her parents, and stunning sea-green eyes flecked with silver as well. Moving with the eagerness of youth, Rae eventually left the forest behind her, as the landscape slowly became more open and rocky. She had seen the cliffs of the Edge before, but only from a distance. In her daydreams, Rae had imagined princes and princesses living high on these cliffs, beautifully shrouded in mist and mystery. She told herself that she would be a princess one day, and would find herself a handsome and strong mate to be by her side...such were the thoughts of the young and naive, and yet Rae was determined to force them into reality. Climbing ever higher, mists slowly began to envelope her creamy form, as the scent of the sea wafted up to her pink nose. It smelled wonderful! So much better than the earthy scent of the Woods where the Grey lived...this was a real home.

Prancing in the moonlight, the little filly reared up, striking her hooves against the face of the moon, as if she could knock it down from the sky. As she tossed her head, sending a cascade of waving ripples through her mane, her horn glinted as if small rainbows of light were bursting within. Taking a deep breath as her tiny hooves struck the ground again, Raeden inhaled deeply, enjoying the scent of freedom.
