In the art of dancing, Luken wasn’t sure how he should react. He had never ‘danced’ before… Of course, he and La-la had followed their parents around, set at elegant, high-knee trots that the twins could only dream of achieving at such a young age… But little Luken had always done his best to practice the poise-filled pace whenever he was alone, or with Laila. For there were rare times where he wasn’t with his beloved twin, and this night, caressed in the moonlight and trees of the Edge, was one of them.

Chocolate eyes watched as the moon-painted filly danced closer to him, a playful smile upon her cute little muzzle. She was a sight to behold, dancing in the moonlight, and immediately Luken felt the invisible pull build in his breast, beckoning him to follow after the unicorn fae and partake in her elegant dance. With a soft snort and a toss of his head, short-locks flying through the moonlight, Luken followed after the filly, tossing his head this way and that, small snorts leaving his flaring nostrils. With each step that he took, he attempted to mimic the more lithely built filly, pulling his knees higher and higher upwards with each step he took. One day, in the future and when he had seen more days, such a gait would come to him naturally like it did his father… Now, however, he was left with a clumsy prance, but it would do.

Nearly as soon as their dance had started, it came to an abrupt sound when a warbled cry sounded from overhead. Pausing in mid-stride, Luken’s chocolate orbs turned upwards towards the sky, and the flash of gold immediately caught his attention. A dragon… Soon after the arrival of the dragon, another came, and the colt immediately eyed the Weyrleader with a look of apprehension. He had never met the Queen of the Edge, but his father had told him stories of the might of their Lady… The little knight was about to move into a clumsy sort of bow, but then the most wonderful of sounds graced the breeze. Mirage laughed, the sounds heartfelt and adoring, as if beckoning Raeden and himself to continue in their play, then bolted into play.

The DragonHeart twisted and turned like the mists personified, moving and dancing in such an elegant way that for a few moments, Luken was left standing in awe, mouth agape. Even as Raeden moved to follow the Weyrleader, he stood there, but soon snapped out of his trance with a soft nicker and a toss of his little head. Once more the white and black draft-mutt fell in line, pulling his knees higher and higher into the air, the tuft of his tail flicking left and right to smack against the two-toned hide of his rump.

There was such joy in this dance, and the colt’s voice bubbled out of his throat in a childish laugh. His heart swelled with pure emotion, head tossing, and he paused in his elegant strides to rear into the air, cream-hued hooves pawing at the moonlit sky. This was joy as he knew it, and a small part of him regretted not waking Laila to bring her along… Maybe tomorrow night, they could both sneak away together to dance in the moonlight.

So caught up in their playful frolic as he was, Luken paid little mind to the looming dark mass that soon joined them. He landed from his rear, stamped a hoof, and made to give chase to Raeden before the familiar form of Destrier stopped him in his tracks. Fear and apprehension bubbled in his chest as he eyed his father, fearful of the tongue-lashing that he could very well receive for wandering off in the night. An apology formed on his tongue as Destrier approached.

“Pappa, I… Um…” Glancing to Mirage, then back to his father, Luken had little time to say much else before even Destrier tossed his head, the long, elegant strands of his crimped mane flowing into the moonlight filled sky. The Friesian then proceeded to join them in their games, in their elegant familial dance, and with a positively giddy shuffle of his front hooves, Luken immediately gave chase to Destrier. The colt watched carefully as Destrier’s knee’s snapped high into the air, and tried to copy the ebony stallion’s movements. Another laughter escaped his lips, and Luken’s chocolate eyes searched for Raeden once more, desperate to seek out his new friend. Perhaps she would come back some day, and then they could play with Laila together? Laila needed more friends, Luken thought briefly as he reared up once more, body twisting in the air.
