HEROES MAY DIE

It seemed as though his Weyrleader was busy with the horned filly, whom he could not recall ever spying before, but that did not mean she was not of the Edge. There were many foals popping out from the woodworks, and some were still round with foals unborn. It was an exciting time for all, and Destrier was proud to finally take part in the season with his first children after ten years of life.

So as the dark mare of the cliffs and the moon danced about, offering her attention to the pale child, Destrier put his focus on his own son. Although still young, Luken's personality was strong, and physically, he was advancing every single day. Already he could see his attributed breeding showing through, whether it be through the way he trotted, courtesy of himself, or simply his coloring, which reminded him of his lovely Tor, wherever she may be. Her words were still running rampant in the warrior's head; she'd proclaimed that she needed to find her family, giving little more explanation than that before hurrying off into the night. Honestly, it had torn the Friesian to pieces, for were he, Luken and Laila not an ounce more important at the moment? Hard as it was, he tried not to let it bother him too much.

Matching Luken, a laugh left the stallion's lips, and he gave a great buck and he carried himself across the bare patch in the land, ever mindful of his son's position as they romped about. With another toss of his head, he pivoted back around to face the way he had come, just in time to witness Luken rearing, creme hooves lashing out at the innocent sky. A smile pulled at Destrier's lips, and he pushed himself into another extended trot, quickly closing the gap between father and son. When he was near enough, he slowed, but his steps were still high, tossing his towering form into a prance.

"Do you enjoy the night, Luken?" He asked, a simple, innocent question that proffered no anger towards the colt for being out so late. Unlike some, he would allow the young knight the freedom to make his own choices, so long as he did not wander out of the safety of the Edge or do anything stupid. "Perhaps we will have to invite Laila out tomorrow night."
