LOCKET nimbly danced to the right as Murdock neared him, avoiding the brunt of the attack so the flesh of his right shoulder merely brushed against the unicorn’s chestnut hide. His teeth, however, made some purchase on the tender flesh of the warrior’s neck, and he found the unpleasant taste of blood lingering upon his tongue. Frustrated, the Pegasus leaned back as his hooves rapidly neared the lush green earth, white wings spreading to catch the cool air and slow his descent. He was sure he had been quick enough to catch his opponent unawares, but the chestnut was quicker than he had anticipated.

Silver hooves touched down onto the dew-slick grass, skidding a ways before finally coming to a halt a few feet away from LOCKET. Murdock spun around quickly, tall grass swaying around his body as he pulled his wings in against his sides. His heart hammered against his chest as he faced his opponent on foot, looking him in the eye for the first time as they were on level ground with one another. It was thrilling to be in the midst of battle, so close to danger with the temptation of victory lingering on the horizon. Behind him, the angered cries of the foolish outcast rang out above the din, and he turned his head to glance toward Ktulu and Birch as they advanced toward the mare.

Though he had the advantage of wings over his grounded adversary, Murdock felt as though it wouldn’t be right for him to fight from the skies. He would easily be able to strike the unicorn from the air while receiving few injuries, but he was honorable enough to stand and face his enemy on even grounds. Just as he was about to make his next move, the comforting warmth of summer was shattered by a cold gust of wind that brought with it a flurry of snow. LOCKET’S slender body was obscured before him as the icy flakes swirled around, blotting out the pale blue sky and blinding his enemy as he fumbled about in the white-out. This unexpected assistance from his ally was greatly appreciated, and Murdock was able to swiftly approach his opponent head-on beneath the blanket of white.

As he drew near to the unicorn, his eyes caught the movement of the chestnut’s right leg as he stomped the earth. His steps faltered slightly in confusion, watching in surprise as the soil began to ripple and bend. Like a mole burrowing through the earth, the tremor sped toward him, shaking the grass with an echoing rumble. Spreading his wings for balance, Murdock stumbled to the left. His legs parted in an effort to steady his body, the vibrations shaking his knees and distracting him from keeping an eye on the chestnut in his desperation to remain upright.

Finally regaining his balance, he glanced up just in time to see the slender unicorn barreling toward him. The chestnut’s light build gave him the advantage of speed, but Murdock was still quick enough to step to the right out of the Arab’s path. A flash of white against the monotonous green of the fields caught his eye, and he turned his head as Ophelia cantered toward them. He dipped his head slightly to his leader as she leaped toward LOCKET, her jaws aiming for the chestnut’s crest where Murdock’s own teeth had landed moments before.

Pivoting to the right on his forelegs, his dark haunches swung toward his adversary as the Arab galloped past. Leaning forward, he spread his wings for balance as he kicked out with his hind legs for LOCKET’S left side, aiming to strike him on his left hip. Hopefully he would be able to hinder the Arab’s movement and buy himself some time to get re-positioned. Before him, the grim scene of battle was splayed out beneath the calm, cool sky, appearing so out of place below the majestic cliffs that rose up from the rolling hills of green. He grit his teeth as he turned away from the confusion of war, looking toward the unicorn to see what damage he may have done.

(Summary: Murdock lands a short ways past Locket and turns to face him. He is set off balance by the War Stomp, but steps to the right as Locket charges toward him. He spins around to the right and kicks out for Locket's left side, aiming to strike him on the left hip.)
