More came, drifting in like leaves upon the wind, waves to the shore, and Mauja found the familiar irritation seep into his soul. Why was it he never caught the stallion alone? Why was he always a magnet for others, the center of attention, an attraction? Perhaps, the voice of his mind said wryly, because he shot a pillar of lightning into the sky? That was bound to make other night-walkers take note of him, wasn't it? The icy stallion's blue eyes glanced around at the others, taking in the rustle of a wing, the glint of a horn, before returning his attention to the one who was closest.. the one he did not know was a God, and his own personal tormentor. Slowly, Mauja's eyes were drawn up into the sky as well, until the other's voice brought him, rather brutally, back to earth. Unsure what had sparked the sarcasm, he let his eyes return to Spark, one ear flicking back for a moment. He knew that time had changed himself, that he was less whole than he had been when they had met previously, but it seemed that time had changed this one too. His tongue was more biting, his demeanor less pleasant, less polite; he was practically spitting the words into Mauja's impassive face.

Time itself... Unbidden, his mind ran to his capricious adventure in time, but behind his veiled eyes he thought surely not. It was usual to jump to conclusions, especially faulty ones, when confronted with something that made your brain click like this. Breathing evenly and revealing nothing but mild curiosity Mauja watched and listened as the God's face grew indifferent again, his voice mocking despite its polite tone. And then, he coldly turned his back upon Mauja, and surveyed the rest of the crowd. Feeling vaguely confused and annoyed, and majorly anxious, Mauja stared at the back of his head, desperately trying to put the pieces together without creating the picture he did not want. The black-and-white stallion had held his interest for months, an enigma, a mysterious gentleman who had understood things in a way few others did — the notion that he was as powerful as a God, and as cruel as one... He did not want to admit it, that he had been well and carefully played, toyed with, nothing but a plaything until the demon had grown bored and carelessly tossed him aside.

As carelessly as he tossed his head to one side, to peer at Mauja with eyes that chilled him to the core. "How rude of me - I forgot to ask! Just how was your little dream vacation....?" The words, the smile, the eyes, the way he turned away again — it felt like being bathed in cold water, like having an ice berg shoved into the same space as his brain within his skull. Cold, cold, cold, weak and foolish, stupid, but testament to his control not even his breathing gave a hitch as the undeniable facts fell into place. He couldn't help but feel like the you know who I am was just another barb directed at him, even if the God's face had turned away, and Mauja finally let his ears fall flat to his muscular neck. He was done with this shit, with trickery and deities thinking they could do whatever — and the sad fact was, that time again, they had proven that they could.. that they were capable of all the games they wished to play upon the mortals. For better or for worse, Mauja had been this God-like creature's plaything, and now he had been cast aside, and, what was worse...

Mauja was fairly certain he was the patron God of his new home, the Aurora Basin.

"You," he said coldly, his voice as frigid as his glare — but he found no insult proper enough to convey his contempt. "Þú ert ekki virði að minn tími," he finally spat, before turning on his heel and striding away through the grasses, wishing it didn't feel as if yet another star had fallen from his heaven to crack the earth.

angels, they fell first, but I'm still here
