Snö
winter will come again, soft like the first snowfall

Frosted hooves carried the young filly into the Threshold of the land she had been born in and spent very little time. For the first few months of her life she had followed her mother around. Their trips had taken them in and out of Helovia, never settling in one place for long. She had a vague image of her father. He was a pale, speckled stallion of great strength and height. Her mother had often spoke of him, holding him in high esteem, but Snö had not yet been able to form her own opinion of him, or even see if her mother's opinion was justified.

The varnished girl stopped and sniffed at a tuft of dried grass that was wilting from the extreme heat. She had noticed it the second she'd crossed into Helovia's Threshold. It had nearly taken her breath away, it still threatened to. She had thought of turning back and going back to find her mother, but the desire to meet her father officially had overwhelmed what would have been her survival instincts and pushed her further into Helovia.

Snö lifted her head and shook her fluffy mane then trotted forward again. The filly had no idea where she was going, only the vague idea of who she was looking for. Thankfully passing through the Threshold had become common to her and she was able to avoid the areas that had been burned and destroyed by fire. She stopped again and looked around the familiar forest then began moving in the direction that would bring her closer to the World's Edge where her mother had said they were from. Maybe she'd find him on her way there. With that thought in mind the girl began to him happily to herself.
