Quivering as the cold began to set into her bones, so swift her mind reveled, Ampere began to wonder more deeply why she had come here. Beauty is only appealing for so long and hypothermia even less so, if ever. She sighed heavily, finding childish enjoyment in the way her breath fogged about her muzzle. She could experience that without snow though.

Just as Ampere began to flex her wings, trying to urge life back into them so they could take her back to the sun's land, a figure began to take shape in the horizon. It was immediately noticeable, being one of the only things moving in this wasteland, but Ampere was cautious to look upon it and trust her eyes. The deserts would frequently trick you into thinking you saw what was not there, did snow do the same?

In a way it was like a desert, a frozen desert.

The shape grew larger though and Ampere knew it then to be true, and approaching. Curiosity bode her to stay, ears lifting to attention as her head did too, straining to see him over the glare of ice. She had to know what unfortunate creature carved a life out here. Whether it proved hostile or not, well that's what wings and hooves were for, and lightning too.

Much to Ampere's surprise it was a horse that drew himself over the hill of snow, cresting it with an ease that suggested not only familiarity with living here, but enjoyment in it too. Ampere's feathers ruffled on her sides as the shock spiraled through her body, but it settled soon enough and broke into a shiver at the sound of his voice. She was cold it was true, but his tone chilled her in ways the atmosphere had not. Blue eyes sharpened with a wariness she should had to begin with. Arrogance and youth have a way of making you feel brave when you should be smart; you could not be both.
At least, Ampere hadn't figured out how yet.

"What's to intrude on?" Ampere asked, just as cool and effluent but not quite so, hard. Where Crowley had been ice jutting from the ground Ampere was snow piling in a drift, soft and light. Though her muscles had stiffened, both from the cold and his presence, she let her features remain casual and interested. Her gaze studied him as blue drifted over the black pelt, admiring the striping he possessed and the play of colors in his mane. His horns were curious things, unlike most unicorns she had known, though truthfully she had known very few. What captivated her most of all however, was the small, in-ordinary dog at his side. It too was striped and horned, and though she did not doubt its teeth could prove dangerous, it had a youthful innocence to it that softened her heart.

She could not help but wonder why the unicorn had it though. There was no denying their pelts bore some similarity, so perhaps they were of the same land? She had seen some horses with pets before of course, among her travels they could be found and were often eccentric and lonely. She knew thieves with monkeys that stole for them so they could both eat, and old nags with birds to sing them sweet melodies to ease the aches of old hearts, she even knew colts that ran with wolves to test their strength, but often these cases were few and always mystified her. She could never imagine being so selfish as to take somethings freedom for her own gain, though she was often put at ease by the comradeship displayed between horse and pet. In some cases the horses had rescued the pet and it stayed of its own free will, but not all she knew.

She thought back to Ophelia and Tinek, her first sighting of them in this land and she had thought her last. Now this horse and his hound come and she wondered what kept them together, particularly as Crowley called sharply to it as it tried to investigate her. Ampere's ears slid back in irritation, her head jerking restlessly. "There's no need, I would not hurt it and it bears me no ill will," Ampere remarked, failing to add another passing thought, "you should not keep such a short leash lest the dog turn his teeth on you one day,".

Just then wings harried the sky, the sound not as easily heard with Ampere's ears tucked in her mane, or so she thought as the pale own abruptly came into view, startling her. The wings that whisper her thoughts murmured, head lifting so her blue eyes could trace its flight. She had known some owls in her day, both horse and bird akin, and maintained a healthy respect for them. Her annoyance quickly flickered into wonder. It had deposited for the pet pup, no act of a wild owl. Much to her chagrin that something magnificent like that was enslaved Ampere was also excited to see it.
"Do you control all these creatures?" There was awe in her voice as her attention swiveled back to Crowley. She wondered now if he was some king here, for with his coming what had been dead suddenly breathed into life. It was certainly an amazing magic if he did, and then perhaps they were not his servants, but his creations much like her lightning animals.

This was no wasteland Ampere realized, but a hidden wonder.
