Roland fought the urge to roll his eyes at Cierra’s brazen words, watching as the younger mare fumed before him. If she’d had any sense in her small bird brain she would have run off by now and saved her hide, yet she remained. The dun wasn’t sure if it was stupidity or stubbornness that made her hold her ground when a knife was waved before her throat, but he assumed it could be a mix of both. He smirked at her words, eyebrows raised as the Pegasus stomped her foot against the soft, muddy ground, as if that would do anything to perturb him.

Oh, but I’m enjoying this far too much to leave now,” he responded in a silky voice, though his words were laced with venom. His dark intent was clear in his glassy eyes, gazing at Cierra with a look of disgust. Her bravery was annoying him. He had no intentions of wandering off when there was another hornless to push around, and she was the perfect target, if not a little too headstrong for his tastes. She would buckle soon enough, and he would enjoy every second of it.

He was caught off guard when she suddenly reared up, squealing into the dark night. Roland just managed to jerk away as her forelegs lashed out at him, contacting nothing but the empty air. Was she stupid, striking out at him when he appeared to have the upper hand? He felt the force put behind the movement as her hooves flashed before his face, an unspoken warning; but he chose to ignore the message. There was a wild look in the stallion’s eyes when he looked back at the mare, nostrils flared.

Cierra landed on all fours once again and took a step back, breathing heavily as if the movement had taken all her strength. Roland simply gazed at her, expressionless, though in his mind a tempest had blossomed. She had given him incentive enough to retaliate, and he didn’t plan on telling her off with a few simple, kind words. He would hear her cries of anguish before the night was over. “I have a better idea,” he gritted out between clenched teeth, jaw working as he moved a step closer to her. “Why don’t you get the fuck away from me?

Roland bowed his head and leaped forwards, aiming for the joint of her right wing where feathers met the skin of her shoulder. She hadn’t exactly taken him up on his offer to remove her wings, but he intended to do her the favour all the same. If she was lucky she could dance away from his sudden attack and miss the blade altogether, but if he was to catch her skin the wound inflicted would be deadly. His mouth practically watered at the prospect of spilling her blood, a devilish grin broadening across his golden features as he lunged towards her.

(I’d love to have them meet! Roland would feel horrible.)
