A shimmer walked the lands.

A ray of sunlight danced above her.

In the heat, the mare barely needed her magic in order to appear as her namesake. The heatwaves rising from the dry earth blurred her from view already, but her magic wrapped itself so willingly about her charred frame that it was almost hard for her to remove it. The Fields she looked over, in the shade of the threes that rimmed it, aware of the happenings within. It was habit for her to keep track of these things, for she longed only for the golden painted steed’s happiness, and having Brooke die would make him unhappy – therefore the mare made it her business to ensure the mare came to no unnecessary harm.

Akaith was abuzz with excitement, as births always did bring out the best mood in her. She seemed to glow of her own accord, vibrant and golden like the hide of the stallion that entered the lands before them. The queenly one longed to sing a chorus, but instead quaked with anticipation upon the withers of her beloved bonded.Soon, my dear. The soothing, settling singsong melody of Mirage’s voice sounds in the dragon’s mind, and the gold regains her composure, settling to watch the small family before them enjoy their moment. It is rude to spy. Akaith utters soon, her longing to greet the newborns with her song evident through the bond.

Abruptly, Mirage seemed to agree, for she moved then, picking her way delicately through the edges of the realm, allowing her magic to drop from her form a polite distance away and inclining her tiara. She didn’t really intend to hover too long, she guessed that the couple would want to buzz over their children together. But it was important to the mare, to make herself known to the stallion, for she always wanted him to be assured that her presence was never far from him, and that she would always be there if he ever needed her presence. The golden queen flew above her, sounding a melodic song of felicitations to the group.

Rich, amber eyes looked over the colts briefly, and the little shadow mare was reminded of her brothers, though she never did see them as newborns, that these were twins and colts strung a familiar note within her. A sincere kindness reflected in her eyes, at least when she looked to Torasin and smiled a small smile, her façade fading somewhat when it met with Brooke’s gaze but not enough to cause offence – she truly did wish to congratulate them both. Such births seemed frequent of late, and Mirage almost felt like she was behind the times – but the mare was a wise one, she did not long to bring forth young life of her own until a homeland was able to provide stability and security for her. Until that day, no new life would grow in her belly.

The queen greeted Kiba enthusiastically as always, before ducking her wings in the air to the couple and the twins in a draconic salute, and landing smoothly upon Mirage’s withers, who still stood a little ways away; not wanting to intrude. They are not well, but will grow. Akaith divulged to her bonded, who gave no reaction to the words, but observed for herself the awkward way the twins seemed to be, slightly more awkward than simply getting to know the newness of their bodies. But there was little she could do about it, she did not possess healing magic nor in depth knowledge of correcting newborn ailments.

“Congratulations, from myself and Akaith.” The resonant hum of her voice broke the silence, her accented words conveying the sincerity of her demeanour.
