Taking down the doe was much easier than hauling it back. It was infrequent, at most, that the young gryphon had to carry anything so heavy, so it took her a little while to get a good grip and take to the air again. Every beat of her wings was labored, as the dead weight dragged at her, but she managed at last to bring it back, and drop it amongst the rest of the carrion collected for the hatchling.
Panting, she settled to one side once more, wings fanning slowly as she caught her breath. A careful distance was kept still from the egg, though her eyes studied its contours. "Ssshould prractice doing that morre often. Norrmaly jussst eat fisssh and they don't weigh asss much asss I do." There was an ironic tone to her voice and tilt to her features.
