Locket shivered in the wake of an early Frostfall morning, sighing at the cloud ridden sky that seemed filled with snow yet seemingly dormant for the time being. His belly complained as food became harder to find, the luxury of the warmer seasons felt like a long distant memory filled with juicy grass and glorious sunshine. Long, curly mane fell onto a thicker chestnut coat and the tips of his tail were dragged across the wet ground, the ends clumped together in frozen mud. Dainty hooves struggled on the sloppy surface and he often grimaced when a leg disappeared down a patch of loam to come out a mucky shade of brown. All in all, the panda boy was not very impressed with Helovia's cold season and it was at this time he missed his life as a vagabond. He would've been heading south right now, to the warmer climates and the exotic mares. White accented lids fell over green fletched eyes for a moment as he dreamed of blue skies and sparkling seas, soft sand and a gentle breeze. It was rather depressing when he opened his eyes once again.

Squelching down to the heart of the Foothills, Locket fell to a halt and stared sadly at the frozen waterfall. Many might find the sight beautiful, but the panda boy lamented the loss of a good water source and his throat seemed to agree. Drawing himself up, Locket reminded himself that he wasn't here to simply point out the dreariness of winter and that he was to take the first patrol of the colder months. The stallion had been quite happy to set on duty, he didn't mind the hard work and he knew first hand as to why this job was so necessary. There had been an influx of intruders on Foothills soil and Locket, as were many others, was not happy about the matter.

Silently he waited for his patrol buddy, mind turning to thoughts of his quest the Earth God had sent him on, feeling a flourish of pride that the patron lord of his land had chosen none other than him. The clues he had been given were strange and the rather forgetful stud was having trouble deciphering them, though each one did seem to light a fire in his mind. If only he could remember the herd meeting clearly, the words spoken he could remember, but the faces of his mates were harder. Never mind the companions they had with them. Sighing, he wondered if he should seek out Ophelia for help. Tinek had already sprang to his mind for one of his clues, maybe his pale leader would know of the others he must find.

Locket continued pondering whilst he waited by the frozen waterfall.

And I took you by the hand
And we stood tall,
And remembered our own land,
What we lived for.
