Ears cocked to listen as the rumbling call faded into silence, not even the twittering of birds daring to break the quiet. Distantly he heard a familiar warble acknowledging his call, spreading the warning within the meanings of his cry upon higher notes, more lenient to mere horses' ears. A low thrum began, deep in his chest, as he waited... waited. Then there, it came, an answering call on familiar tones, making his heart leap in his chest and the fire within burn brighter, spreading to warm him soul and ignite another fire that he was half inclined to smother, half inclined to kindle. Instead he ignored it for now in favor of other desires.
Bright golden eyes watched attentively for signs of his mate, glimpsing her golden form rising above the trees. Rising ever higher, a gleaming beacon for all dragon-kind to focus in upon, accompanied by another, smaller but no less magnificent golden figure. His thrumming deepened, approaching the sound of the happy crooning rumble he sometimes made, as he watched the firey display of gold and blue created above him. He yearned to rise up to meet them, but waited a few moments longer. This was their moment, this glorious moment revelling in flight and dragon-hood, encouraging any and all dragons to join the hunt that he'd initiated.
Attentively he watched as the upward spiral met its climax, as jaws clamped shut on fire and wings slipped closed, allowing his beloved to plunge from the sky in a controlled dive. Only then did he spread his wings, flinging himself into the sky from the space granted by the nearest clearing. A clarion call of greeting, tinged by hungers he disdained to hide, rang out to meet her as he provided Mirage and Akaith a figure to zone in upon. He wondering if they would take lead upon this hunt, or let him continue calling the shots. Either was fine, and would be decided swiftly enough in the moment of their airborne meeting.
