WILL YOU RISE ABOVE THE PAIN
OR WILL YOU SIMPLY COME UNDONE?

It had been an unusually lazy day for Wingleader and dragon. With patrols out of the way and the checking up of the twins over with, Destrier had found himself quite content to stand near one of the roaring fires, hind leg cocked beneath his towering body and his rear facing the wind. Suli herself had taken a residence in her normal spot, laying over her bonded's withers with a lay of his lengthy mane flopped over her. It was the perfect way to end a day in the mind of the little dragoness, until she heard the telltale trill of dragonsong.

Snapping her head up from its place, Suli focused her attention on the direction the call had come from. It resonated throughout the land, beckoning dragons of all kind to come and join what could only be a hunt. Deep within her, the little green could feel something churning; was it excitement, or purely instinct that was suddenly driving her to leap from her bonded's back and answer the call? Perhaps it was the fire she had yet to discover, or maybe it was a mixture of all these things.

Feeling the youngster shift upon his withers, Destrier bent his neck around to view her. He, too, had heard the call of his Weyrleader, having grown quite familiar to it during his time in the Edge, but it was easy to tell that this was not a call to her followers for a meeting. A longing, yearning expression was written all over the little green's face, and Destrier could not bring himself to deny Suli the offer she had been given. "Go," he spoke gently, and was about to say more, but it seemed that one simple word was all that the little dragon needed; with a leap, she had spread her wings and was off.

Although not as skilled as her elder kin in flight, or really anything else for that matter, Suli flew as quickly as she was able in order to reach the call of the Dragonheart and her mate. Through branches and pines she wove, moving up and down, side to side in a serpentine motion. It took her little time to locate the elder, much larger dragons of the World's Edge, and it wasn't until her violet eyes took them in completely that she outstretched her wings, curling them against the currents to slow herself and find perch on a branch which lined the clearing.

It was almost intimidating to the little green how much bigger these three were; they could take down a buck without so much batting an eye, while she oftentimes had enough trouble trying to catch a wayward hare. Would they really want her tagging along? Or would she just get in the way? Although she didn't know what it was called, a wave of nervousness washed over her, but she wouldn't be cast aside for her smaller size, younger body or lack of any extreme hunting skills. Throwing her head up stubbornly, her nostrils quivered as she let out an indignant huff, before she took to the skies once more.

A warble of greeting left her as she parted her jaws, eyes settling upon the golden form that was Akaith. Leaning one way, she aimed to go around the other dragon in a spiral before spreading her wings out, turning herself back around to face the one that was closest to her own shape and size. The display was almost playful, but this was no time for such a thing; it was time to hunt, and it was time for something to die.
