In ones and twos and more the sky gradually seemed to fill with dragons. Mostly wild, unbonded dragons, but nevertheless they responded when a queen, two queens, beckoned. It was like beholding art, watching Akaith take control of the dazzling, wheeling flock. One green in particular caught the bronze's eye, and he rumbled a greeting to little Suli, wondering in amusement just how much of all this Destrier was catching.

Yet only so much attention could be spared for the Winglead's bonded, when another dipped close to have her own greeting. Another rumble, this one colored with crooning notes, escaped the hybrid as golden wings beat just beyond his ears, as talons tugged on ebony strands of hair in a playful gesture. But even that greeting was fleeting when the petite gold's bonded demanded her own turn at his side. He bent his own muzzle toward her as she reached out over downswept wings to touch the curve of his neck, offering a thrumming croon to the holder of his heart. It seemed to last longer, but even that moment was only the span of a few heartbeats before the golden dragon returned her attention to the hunt.

Then he knew, in the bending of a head and the tilt of a wing, that the hunt was his to lead. It was a thrill, knowing he held responsibility for leading his mate and leader, her bonded, and an entire flock of dragons on a hunt. He hadn't quite expected so many mouths to lend a mouthful of meat, and was forced to reconsider his intended prey.

They needed something bigger than a simple deer. For a moment he contemplated scouting the beaches for seals, but dismissed the thought. With this many set of wings, a lumbering sea-beast caught on land would be too easy to corner and catch. What they needed was a chase...

Decision made, he angled eastward, heading for the woods that lined the mountains beyond the herdlands. He had intents for an elk or moose, creatures that steered clear of lands roamed by magic-wielding horses and the dragons that had become increasingly common. Wise of them, but they could only run so far, so fast, when a hunt was on.
