In a world where there was no light, no night, no day, no time, how did one know just what they were? Where they were? Who they were? Star lined mists lit their path as they walked, the brothers of shadow and fire, their identities secured in each others vibrantly orange eyes, seen despite the low light, mistaken for the hungry glare of predators often enough to amuse them greatly. Across the borders they roamed, brothers in arms and blood, bound more deeply and permanent then any other bond formed between the beasts of this realm. They had taken to this change with relative ease compared to the rest, their birthrights allowing them to adjust swiftly to the dark and mysterious, their long lives giving them the experience needed to adapt to change within a few strides of happening across altered landscapes and realms. Magic was never something they sought, and so it was never something they had blessed upon them, though they could feel its absence in the world around them.

When a loud, familiar voice called from within the borders, they could not help the grins that broke out across their maws. Laughter, deep and horrible, rolled from their chests as each one moved off from their positions, departing sides so that they might approach the golden pegasus lady from both sides at once, their former WingLeader who had been sent on a mission that required the swiftness of travel wings provided, as well as the wits of one who had earned the respect of the entire moonlit family. They did not like having to send her away, but it was a mission that they hoped would require little physical exertion aside from simply travelling for one capable of flying amidst the clouds, avoiding the confrontation of any potential tense company. That she had returned alone spoke of the missions success, or, lack thereof. But it didn't matter; they had her back now.

Muzzles reach outwards from both sides of the mare as the laughter turned into warm nickers of greetings, orange eyes alight with welcome and respect to one they had come to consider much like a sister. "The Gods have gone to sleep. Not sure when they will decide to wake up again." Madyrn's deep voice resonated through the very soil as it proffered his version of an explanation for the absence of magic and light. "It has been this way for a week or so, it's end is unforseen." Maskan's equally deep, yet smoother tones added, as the brothers nodded to their former WingLeader with a mixture of comradely friendliness and slight fear for the safety of their balls - one could never know with Sage. "It is good to see you in tact, Sage." Maskan spoke again, eyes roaming over her body in open appreciation of both the pristine, if well travelled, condition it was in, combined with a much more carnal purpose. "As opposed to in pieces." Madyrn's dry humour added, with a rough, stony laughter chuckling its way through his muzzle as he hoped to entangle his teeth amongst her pale mane simultaneously.

Rolling his eyes as his brother's antics, Maskan spoke simply, diverting the conversation to the purpose of her return. "Are you here to stay now?" Were you successful? What did you find on your journey to the outskirts of our birthlands?
