Ulrik was highly amused that the stranger stallion took such offense to his words, and the bronze and charcoal unicorn chuckled out a harsh snort. The engineer was not often amused. Then he mentioned how the Tides seemed to be a part of his past, and the amused snort turned into a scowl. Maybe the ancient ancestors were not the modern idiots that a few of these herd mates spoke of. "Distant ancestors, I hope," he grunted.

Ulrik raised a dark brow as his king said that they could put steel in his spine, and the grin that crossed the mechanic's lips was dark and wicked. "With pleasure..." he replied, swishing his leonine tail around his fetlocks again. The engineer studied the stallion again, narrowing his broze eyes. "The fire is there, but I am not sure about steel."

With a short grunt, Ulrik lifted his neck very high, his two, twisted horns raising to the sky. Then, he pushed his shoulder blades back, a loud crack emanating from his neck. "Aahh..." he grunted.

The engineer looked at the newcomer, snorting once. "Why do you want to live among your own kind?" he asked. "What is it about the feathered and hornless that does not appeal to you?"
