 The land before her stretched outward for what seemed like eternity. She was surrounded by white; it was a vast ocean of ice and snow that was tinted blue by the darkness. The hills formed by snow appeared to the mare as huge waves, frozen in time long store they could crash down upon the shore. The occasional snowflake fluttered down around her, but otherwise the land was still and silent. It was eerie and unwelcoming. Artemis found herself just as still and unmoving as the ice land that reached out to her; it consumed her body, drawing her icy pale grey form and giving her the appearance of an ice statue. Only the waving of her mane and tail in the slight breeze gave her away for a living creature. How long would this darkness last? It seemed like eternity since the sun last rose over the horizon, spreading its warm glow over the lands and bringing to life the land and all it's bounty. This darkness was unbearable. Her love of the blood red sunsets and pale links of dawn made the endless night frustrating and the shadows toyed with her mind. Everywhere her steely gaze looked, she saw movements; ebony figures that swam through the trees and shifted from view whenever she peered through the gloom. It made her nervous, and it did not help that she knew little about the land she was now a part of. She had run from a place of torment, only to be drowned under a blanket of navy. Only the stars were her solace now, but even they appeared more as menacing eyes than friendly lights to the mare. She stared up toward the stars with a sigh, her breath bursting from her nares as steam. She had been here not long, yet already her body was begining to shake with cold, yet she found herself stepped forward to explore the vast emptiness of the frozen ocean. For a long time, the images of her mothers head struggling over the crashing waves of the thunderous river haunted her. The vision of her fathers eyes as he watched her drown, and watched his daughter flee, disturbed the mares sleep. She had a herd, yet she felt so very alone in this world without her mother. Maybe she would find solace among the dead and forsaken people of this land. Or maybe the cold would rid her of the thoughts that plagued her mind. |
Ooc - a dead mans land of ice, much like a desert only with snowdrifts instead of sand, with only the occasional dead tree. In the center, a lake of ice has been formed under the snow, and if thin in some parts so care must be taken when navigating the terrain.
