The fae was resting in the hot spring, her lids closed over her emeralds. She thought she heard voices, her audits flickering as she heard heavy hoof steps. She tried to ignore them, but blinked open her eyes after a few heart beats, her emeralds revealed to the world. Fluttering her lashes, she stepped out of the pool, her coat soaking wet. Frowning, she shook her coat a little almost like a dog, spreading hot drops of water. She whipped her tail, the air whistling as she whipped it. Plenty of water was still soaked up in her hair, but she ignored that and walked forward. Her cloven hooves clicked against the rock as she marched forward, realizing there was something off.

She halted, gazing around. She couldn't place her hoof on it, but there was definitely something going on. She just needed to figure it out. She heaved a sigh, thinking about her mother for a quick moment. She had left the Basin what felt like ages ago, but what was in fact a few days ago. She missed her despite the fact she had only just left. Maybe it was just something that children feel when a parent leaves them? She pushed her mother from her crania, paying attention to the present.

She strode through the cold, dark land, emeralds darting about, trying to spot a life form somewhere. She huffed, her warm breath curling up and vanishing into the cold Basin air. She kept her ears perked, wondering why the Basin seemed empty, hollow. She began galloping, taking the easiest route to the border, hoping she could spot something from there. She let her legs move fluently, her strides long and coordinated.

Her roan body moved through the Basin, a shadow in the dark. Her lithe body slid through the Basin, reaching the border soon enough. All she saw was the vast expanse of the dark, the Steppe stretching before her, a never ending stretch. The stars and the moon lit up the icy ground, but the fae couldn't see all that far, for it was much too dark.

"Speech."
