Apache continued to eye the female Pegasus who had attempted to attack the doe, he was a kind stallion but he was slow to forgive especially when one attempted and act of murder. Even if the doe was dieing that did not excuse her. As he watched and waited his senses suddenly alerted him to something, the forest was far to quiet. His heart pounded with fear and he forced his breathing to steady and remain calm. It wouldn't do anyone any good to panic.

He watched in horror as the darkness consumed the doe, and all the other equine as they struggled, desperate to protect her and her child. Wingtips nearly touching, stirring the branches above sending pockets of moonlight spilling into the clear, wavering and flickering as the branches waved. Apache like the others wished to protect the child, but the same Pegasus that had attempted to attack blocked him from making a dive of his own for the orb, his instincts were to drive that mare away to stop her from going near the babe but the unicorn's horn struck out piercing her and sending her away. It was difficult to maneuver within the confines of the forest, if this black sludge of laughing monsters began to climb the trees even the winged horses could not escape. They had to get the child out and quick!

Moving so he was hovering over the orb far enough off of the ground to avoid the leaping tar, Apache attempted to block the mare from making another dive as he called to the white mare who was forcing her way toward the orb. "Up here!" He cared little to finding a companion or any creature to bind to his own soul, coming from a land where such bonds were none existent he did not even know that such a thing was possible. When these horses spoke of making the young child a companion or binding it to their soul he assumed it was some sort of contract or oath one takes not an actual binding of two souls. Either way this was the farthest from his mind as only one thought filled his consciousness, protect the child. If only he could carry all the other equine to safety, his blood pounded, he hated being powerless!
