This land was glorious, even in the stark, barren darkness of the eternal night. Artemis was nervously avoiding any sort of socialization with any members of her herd, scared as she was of embarrassing herself. She chose, instead, to be the silent, mysterious new girl, who spilled blood for her new family, yet spoke little to the other members. It fitted her nicely, not to mention gave her a comfortable niche in which to sit, until the day came that she was forced to actually talk to people. How could she, when she had no idea who they were or what sort of people they were? Granted, her upbringing had been rather enclosed, not to mention lonely, which meant this sort of new life was overwhelmingly stressful for her.

Which was the reason she felt the need to explore. She was only young and this world was new and foreign to her. The beauty of it had her in awe, though she longed for the sun to return so that she might picture the place in its full glory. Along her travels she had managed to make friends, though only the Gods knew how exactly that had happened. She tried to bite one and insulted another, only to have them grin at her. If there was one thing for certain, Helovian horses sure were odd. From where she came from, she would have received anger or a fight from her off putting attitude. Still, it did please her though she refused to admit it. The evidence of that was the slowly dying poppy that still decorated her long braided mane. She hadn't the heart to remove it.

As she made her way through the tundra, the rocks and crevasses littered with a light down of snow, the mare felt her spirits rising. She felt free. After so long running from her past - literally - it was nice to be able to amble across the wilds without so much as a care in the world. She had no family, not of blood anyway, and no real ties. She could do as she pleased. Even the intimidating Ktulu could not control the titan. Her large hooves soon brought her to the arches that marked the Tundra, though not the cave that gave it its name. Through the rugged, sharp inclines of bluish rock she could see the ocean. The sight brought a smile t her eyes as the moon glimmered down upon the soft, navy blanket, its reflection rippling in a docile manner quite unlike the rough seas of her home. She smiled, leaning against a pillar of stone, feeling the snow that dotted the jagged surface melt into her equally white pelt. She shivered slightly, watching the moon and the sea as a welcoming silence overcame her, interrupted only by the low hush of waves gently licking the cliff edges.

A billow of wind disrupted her quite moment, pulling the dying poppy from her plait. With a groan she turned, losing it in the darkness as the wind carried it hurriedly from her side. She sighed, lowering her head. No matter, she did not have time for sentiment and trinkets.
