You're only North Star I would follow this far...

Heavy hoof beats sounded as a stallion clopped his way over the frozen earth. He snorted steam and wondered if the water goddess was in a chilly mood today, even as he knew he was far to the north. The black mare was always doing things like this though. Fresh snow in the middle of birdsong. He stopped suddenly in his tracks and brought his head up, the white of his forelock flounced to cover over his other silver-blue eye. What on earth was he thinking about? There were no water goddesses here. He'd left them all far behind...Still, this place was no difference in appearance than his homeland, and thus he sometimes forgot the soil upon which he tread. Shaking out his black mane, the stallion continued onwards.

With his mind back into the present, he couldn't help but to let it wander again, although this time, it clung to more recent events. He'd found his father- spoken to him, even. Tio had been captured, but he'd be damned if they didn't let him go the first chance they got. Before he'd heard what had happened, it had been too late, and now Tio was out of sight again. The grullo flicked his ears back against his skull as the thought annoyed him thoroughly. He knew his annoyance was childish- Tio could do as he pleased in this new land. However, the sight of his dead mother still haunted him. He wondered if Tio even knew Gabrielle was dead. Fury broiled in the young male's stomach as dark thoughts clouded his head. He thought of all the different things he wanted to do to Tio out of vengeance for her sake.

With all this thinking, Tharos did not at first register the scent of equine being blown towards him by the wind. A few snow flakes fell into his mane, which whipped off his neck in the blast of icy breath. When it fell, it fell onto the opposite side of his neck and when he finally did take in the scent of mare, a small, dying poppy was dashed against his front leg, carried by the wind no doubt. He bent his head down to sniff the withered flower, whose petals were coming off even as he looked at it. Soon it was nothing more than a stalk with a pollen ball on one end. The stem moved away from his feathers with the strength of one of his breaths and he turned his neck to watch it be carried off into the distance.

Finally, he turned back to look ahead and saw her- A unicorn, as he'd learned the term by now. His nostrils flared as he breathed in her scent and he registered she was not in season... yet. Still, he wasn't about to say no to such company. She was not like Nadira- She was stockier, like himself. he broke into a slow trot and slowed warily when he was within ten yards of her. "Howdy, ma'am!" He nickered his friendly greeting, pricking his ears forwards so as to catch her reply oer the roar of the wind. All thoughts of his father seemed to have been swept from his mind for the time being.
