He listened to her words and felt a flicker of annoyance. She was part of the group that had hurt him so, but he did not fault her for it. He did not like to judge others based on anything other than what they acted as individuals. So far, she had not presented a reason for him to hate her, regardless of the company she kept.

He looked down at the small depression in his chest, the hairless scar where Apollo's horn had sunk into his flesh, deflected by a stroke of brilliance in which the stallion had thrown his weight to the side at the right moment. The unicorn horn had sunk into his shoulder, scraping against his shoulder blade, and protruding out somewhere above his elbow. Where it not for that shift in his own position, his heart would have been pierced. There were other scars on his back, and sides, echos of that battle, and other battles. Faded hoof prints on his rump, and despite the scars, he was muscular without an ounce of fat on his body anywhere.

If one looked closely, one would see the ribs jutting subtly out against his flesh. Especially when his sides flexed as he walked. He turned his head to her when he heard her exclaim in excitement and a small amused smile tugged at his lips as he watched her buck like a filly in the open air. It lifted his heart to see her like this, he did not know why. Perhaps because she seemed so forlorn when they were conversing. It was refreshing to see that she had not yet lost touch with her younger self- the foal existed in every adult horse, after all, and to lose touch with it was to despair forever.

When she stood near him, he noticed her looking at his eyes as she had in the tunnel. He blinked at her and looked back through the white strands of his forelock. Streams of mist escaped his nostrils and he shook his forelock (and by association, the rest of his mane) out of his eyes. "It was." He shivered in the midst of his response to her statement and turned his head to watch her begin to walk off. He took a few subconscious steps after her, stopping when she did. He turned his head away at her concern, which touched him more than he would say aloud, and snorted.

"it's just a cramp. It'll go away soon." He nickered, and then his icy blue eyes turned back to look at her again. "Artemis?" He hoped to catch her before she was out of earshot. "Could I see you again?"
