"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Spice hasn't really ever been in a forest like this one. Dreary and dark. Fatal and scary. It was not really the rightful place of a pegasi like her. The ones that are free and bright and happy. Well, kind of. Anyone could warm up to the place. I guess... she thinks, her head not turning all the way to look at what sounded like a twig crack, adrenaline pumps through her veins as she pulses forward, kicking off with her hind legs, she erupts with painful emotion, jerked movements.
It was only a spook. Nothing more. Nothing less. Before she could even wonder what was hiding in the gathering darkness, she found herself flying away, ripping off into the dense wood once again. Why would she want to stay somewhere that could possibly be infected by some sort of...demon thing? Or maybe just a forest animal running around under the undergrowth, attempting to scare the living poop out of some one-anyone- they had got it.
Whatever they was...
The dappled filly soon takes a standing position to watch the passing fog, her eyes watching in a doe-like manner as it swirled around the damp forest floor, swiveling it's way through her thin and gangly legs. Weaving it's way around different objects it come by. She stays silent and still as it all passes, her mouth zipped shut for a reason. If that fog could hurt her, in any way, she would not have been detected.
Hardly.
And if she where to be detected by the equine-eating fog she would have run up a tree. Or away. Yeah, that sounded more realistic. She would run away. As fast as she could, because she wouldn't die over some fog. No way. She wanted to learn about Helovia and the herds and she wouldn't be able to do that in belly of a fog-monster.
Fog-monsters are things disguised by fog. Also, they are equine-eating things.
Resplendence it's what you feel but can't articulate outloud
The fog had become her friend these past few years. It seemed to offer her a little bit of strength. Why, she wasn't sure. Maybe it was because the fog seemed to hide her. Maybe it was because it wrapped around her like a security blanket. Maybe it was because it had been there when she had needed it the most during the invasion. Maybe because it was a sign of home.
She wasn't exactly sure why it mattered that the fog was there, but for some reason it did. Resplendence moved through the fog in precise fashions, carefully ensuring that she did not make a noise. She didn't want to be found, not yet at least. So she tried her hardest not to be.
Valiance took to the skies, just above the layer of fog and kept watch around them. Nothing was safe anymore, that much h seemed to know for sure. At least, nothing was safe to Resplendence anymore. She wanted to have Quilyan again. She needed to find him. She needed to make sure that he was okay. Then, and only then, would things even begin to resemble something that had a sense of safety.
She keeps moving, her mind glazed over, until she can't force herself to move anymore. Her frame emerges from the fog that wrapped around her like a blanket, and then she stops. Her head curls down a little bit, maw brushing against the heart pendant that was in its snug place around her neck, resting against her chest.
Tears, maybe that's what they are, begin to brim around her eyes. Yet, she doesn't seem to notice the painted, pegasus foal before her. "Smaller... Quilyan..." he announces as he takes his place a top her poll. She jerks, her eyes scanning for a second until she sees actually takes in the pegasus standing right there. "Sorry!" she stutters, fumbling to even gather that word before beginning to careen backwards. Wings. There were wings. She hadn't really ever believed Kaj completely when he had explained that all wings are soft. No. She only believed some wings were soft. And, for the moment, even this young things wings were not safe to be around.
God, why couldn't she be brave? Maybe if she was brave she'd be able to find Quilyan.
There was a mare there, right then. And she hadn't expected that. At all. The mare had exclaimed a kind of sorry that was loud, although there was real sincerity there. Spice smiled, but when noticing the large red Mara on her. The thing looked the Gaucho's dark follower, but this one had wings like her. What was this thing? It looked scaly...
This could only be one thing...Dragon. It was a dragon! Spice was overcome with a new fear, staring in awe at the creature. She hadn't even noticed that the mare seemed to be staring at her own wings in a weird way.
It was the staring that made her feel suddenly uncomfortable. When she noticed that they both seemed to stare at two different things about each other, she felt a bit uncomfortable. So, she decided to speak. Going with her regular approach. Kindness and thoughtfulness.
"Hello! I am Spice." She said in a kind voice. The fog that had been surrounding her moments before seemed to disperse, leaving an open space just big enough for the two -three- of them in the clearing. Although...the fog seemed to blend into the light mauve splattered mare. Threading itself around her legs and around her. The dragon perched on her made her form even more ominous.
"I..I like your...dragon..." Spice stuttered, giving a glance up at the red thing upon the mare's back. Spice swallowed, it's eyes gave her a little chill in her back. But she shook it off mentally, this mare should be able to control it if it happened to jump at her. And anyway, the mare seemed nice and she couldn't think of anyone else who would be so worried as to bump into a little filly.
She imagined anyone else actually not even seeing her and bumping right into her. This mare had that aura about her. That calm and serene thing. Spice nodded to herself; yes she was careful and kind and calm.

Resplendence it's what you feel but can't articulate outloud
Valiance shuffled in his place a top her head, flicking his head plume and swishing his feathered tail. While his scales shone ever so slightly, the rest of him was definitely waiting on something to happen. He looked powerful, like a king a top his throne.
The young one offered her name, and as Res forced herself to stop backing up she allowed also tried to keep her attention mainly on Valiance. "Resplendence," she whispered, voice low and polite, showing that she was not a threat. That she was not a threat and she didn't need to be injured, in case there was a protective family member around this filly.
Clicking noises of welcome were emitted from Val's maw as the filly spoke. "Good. Better like." he said, his speech slowly getting even better as the time seemed to go forward. His feathered wings stretched out, the spikes glinting for a second from their position across the topline he created. "He says thank you..." a gentle pause as she swallows and allows her bodice to seem to sink into the mists a little more. Comfort. Ease. That's all she wanted. "His name is Valiance," another pause as her mind ran over what this mare looked like.
Did Quilyan have more sisters? Did Quilyan have a daughter with someone else? Where was Quil? God. She needed him. But, first, how did someone so young have wings. She would have thought that they grew in later... Oh, how this didn't make sense. "Wh-why does someone as young as you have w-wings?" she inquired, uncertainty slipping from her maw as her one ear twitched.
The dappled girl didnt really like the way the mare seemed afraid of her, though her voice polite, there was just something in her eyes that said something else. Maybe... Confusion? Spice clouldn't pick it out, but that was what she was getting.
Spice noticed that there was also a kind if reluctance in the way she spoke. But spice didn't mind. "Well, your welcome!" She said with a bit of pride, but also wonder why this thing followed her around -if it did- like Mara seemed to follow The Wildfire around, also sat atop his head, entangled in a crown of deer antlers. She had looked up at the red beast as she spoke, trying ti make a bit of friendly eye contact. She was warming up to him quickly, not feeling as scared as she had when she first saw him there...
Wait, how could Resplendance even hear him if he wasnt saying anything Spice didn't understand, trying to think, but her thougts were cut short by the mare's low and kind voice.
"His name is Valiance"
Spice smiled kindly, connecting the dots in her head. "The daring and brave," she said with a smile, nodding to the dragon -Valiant- then looking to the mare, "the stunning and vibrent" she smiled at her own titles. She remembered how she had named Rhoa a little name in her head, the illusioned wings... hm.
When the mare broke out, her voice studdering over her thought out words, Spice frowned a little. Thinking about how she would respond to this question, she looked at the mare for a second, wondering if she was grown up like her. Not knowing anything but stories about the other lands and other horses. "I..." She decided to go with how Kvothe had explained his at first scary-looking-tail to her. "I was born with wings...why?" She asked politly, her head tilted to the side in question.
Resplendence it's what you feel but can't articulate outloud
She shuffled her weight, watching as Valiance and the young mare interacted in the way that the seemed to know how. He was a protector, and for that she was glad. Very, very glad. The filly made eye contact with the red dragon, and he fluffed his wings, attempting to look more regal. As brave and daring as he was, he also had a lovely colour of pride and adored getting his ego stroked.
A few more clicks of joy escaped his mouth as he took off from her poll and then landed down onto the forest floor. Carefully, he inched closer to the pegasus mare, flickering his wings outward to offer a welcoming brush of feathers before looking between the two different mares. More words escaped from the filly's mouth as she seemed to place the definition of both of their names. "Yes, though I believe he is the only one who fits the title given," she explained, allowing a careful smile to crawl upon her lips.
Alas, Resplendence asked how it was that the filly had wings at such a young age. She was given an answer that she was born with it. The filly's head twisted to the side ever so slightly in a confused manner. "I… I've known a few who have wings, I just didn't know one would have them so young. I thought they… grew in…" There was a pause as she attempted to recollect herself completely. "I mean, I didn't think they would be this prominent on someone so young. I'm sorry… it's just different," she explained, still not completely used to this world of horns and wings and magic.
Gentle eyes looked over the filly once more, attempting to take it all in. She seemed to only be around a year old. Splatters of chestnut colouring were over her coat and green eyes like that of summer grass shone in the somewhat darker areas of the forest they stood in. Though, she didn't seem to hold her wings the same way that Kaj and Quil had. They seemed to be more protected, less pronounced. Did she not have as much muscle? Or did she not like holding them the same way as the others. It seemed as though she was still growing into her frame, legs long but not too long so as to have her continuously trip like Res's twins had done their first few months. And, lastly, she was still a good five inches shorter than Res herself. Yes, probably around a year in age, it seemed like a good guess.
"Why is someone as young as you venturing around in this forest alone? It's not safe with this murderer on the loose…" she said, motherly concern ebbing into her voice as she glanced down to where Valiance was. He seemed to be enjoying this moment, for the most part. He was flickering around in circles, moving back and forth between the two mares, indecisive as to which was the better one to mess with. At least they both seemed beyond sweet - two creatures he could easily take 'under his wings'.
This mare was kind. She didn't seem to have ant problem with Spice. And she liked that. Because being annoying was on the bottom of her list. She never wanted to burden someone wit the horrible ways of being annoying. That would really stink. Because not many liked annoying fillies all up in their biz. Spice nodded along with Resplendence's agreement with her definition of the red Dragon's name.
She then spoke again about wings. Pausing to finish what she was saying, apologizing at the end. "No need to apologize." She smiled kindly at the light crimson-stained mare. "I didn't and frankly, couldn't believe there where horses with sticks on their heads." She looked back to the time when she first met that colt, Erebos. His horn was so...new and different to the girl. She really liked different things.
After a few comfortable silent moments between them, of letting the woman think, Spice as well, she spoke. The only word that grabbed Spice's attention was murderer. She didn't know what it meant, but listening to the words surrounding, it didn't sound good. Loose, and Not safe. She frowned. "Wait a second, what is a murderer?." Her green eyes flashed with a new confusion at hearing a word that she did not understand. Not frequently coming upon these kinds if things, she hoped her question did nit come out at rude or anything like that.
The Dragon -Valiance- seemed trapped in a pool of indecision as his eyes flashed in between the two of the mares. Spice would have smiled at this, but the frown pulled too hard at her mouth. Anchors pulling the tips to the ground. She wished to know what this murderer thing meant. Or was. It made her anxious in wait of the mares surprise.
Resplendence it's what you feel but can't articulate outloud
She shuffled her weight, watching as Valiance and the young mare interacted. Valiance, at least, seemed highly amused with the winged creature before him while Res was still attempting to stay sane. "Yes. It really is a bit of a culture shock." she said before looking at the mare as she asked what exactly a murderer was.
Valiance jumped up, spreading his wings and then taking the air under his wings so that he could rest upon the young filly's withers. "Explain" he pushed Resplendence who sighed a little bit. "A murderer is someone who… kills others in cold blood. And, unfortunately, one has been lurking around." Concern was etching into her features as she watched the young one before her. "Perhaps we should both start heading back toward a herd land. It would be much safer that way…" she explained, shifting her weight as Valiance clicked in approval. Yes… yes. The approval is what kept her going. The approval is how she kept moving from day to day.
And so Valiance took himself away from the foal and back to his normal place upon Resplendence's poll. It would all work out, and he knew he would need to keep her calm as she waited on the young one's decision. Either way she wasn't about to leave the filly. No, she could never do that. But she also wasn't sure that she could help if they got into some kind of sticky situation.
Spice didn't really care if the red dragon sat on her back, warming up to the creature by the second, she smiled, though the woman was explaining what a murderer was. The dragon's talons didn't hurt her much, and as she listened to the definition of murderer, she watches the mare -Resplendence-. She watches her eyes and the way she shifted. The way she watched Spice with a look of concern etching onto her features.
And along with that look a concern, came a look of fear and shock from Spice. The girl who didn't really believe in those kind of things. Death by another of your kind. Who would kill so... so...ugh! That is horrible. Horrendous. Spice did not like it. When the mare suggested they both go to a herd land, where it is supposedly safer... the girl gets even more paranoid. She doesn't want to be caught on her way back to the Dragons Throat. It would be...scary to be caught in the mist and fog of a murderer's trap.
Well, she would guess a murderer had a trap. Why not? You cannot just kill someone out in plain sight. That would be even more murderous than murderous. So, bloody. She would suppose, dark and stick it would splatter the ground in a stain of crimson. Spice wakes up from her thoughts and visions of murder behind caught eyelids because the red dragon, he leaves Spice and goes back to his rightful place on Resplendence's poll. "I can make it back to the Dragons Throat alone, ma'am" she says honestly. She just had to fly. No biggie.
