Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

The journey was relatively quick. Thankfully it had been, for Edgar began to grow grumpy from lack of food. His little belly grumbled and grumbled but he refused to leave until he knew that this girl for sure would be in the Falls. It would be horrible if she suddenly changed her mind and left, then who would he go to? He turned his body backward, watching the mare to keep an eye on her. She needed to at least make it to the front gate (or fall) before she made a decision to run.
When the familiar roar began to interrupt his scrutiny, he turned and suddenly became very uncomfortable. He had completely forgotten that they had to enter under the Falls. Elsa was a pegasus, but Aliyah was a unicorn, meaning walking was the only option. Elsa laughed aloud at his fear. He was in his own predicament, if he wanted out, he just needed to fly.
When the entry point came into view, Elsa turned and gave Aliyah a sheepish smile. From here, there looked to be no entry point. Oh the contrary. Elsa nodded toward the Fall that was running smoothly now. Winter had thawed away for good, leaving the water in its full rushing glory. It wasn't a pounding one, but it left any passerby's soaked should they try to enter. "That is where we go in." Elsa said with a shrug. Twas the price payed for those who didn't have wings. It wasn't a horrible one all things considering. The Falls were indeed some of the cleanest horses around. The smell here rarely stank of body odor. "Have you thought of what you want to do?" Elsa queried, taking a few more steps to the Falls. Might as well keep a conversation going, and figure out who Elsa should lead her to. Pausing just before the entry of the Falls, she nodded for Aliyah to go first, a playfully smug smile falling across her face.
"Talking"
@[Aliyah] first please. Anyone else is welcome after that.
Aliyah looked up at Edgar and puts her ears forward. Aliyah tilted her head confused as she noticed the bird got uncomfortable. The roar of the falls made Aliyah put her ears back " I have to go through there?" She questioned in disbelief. Did she really have to got in through there? Aliyah hated to get wet it was the one thing she hated most, her coat seemed to never dry! Aliyah slowly walked forward in front of the falls and let the slight spray hit her face. The mare looked back at Elsa with an unsure look, " I was thinking of becoming a warrior-" she cut herself off. "Are you sure we enter through here?"
Not waiting for a reply Aliyah took a deep breath, lowered her head, and took a leap through the fall. The water to her, was cold and of course wet. Aliyah lifted her now being on the other side off the fall, her mane was dropped over her face covering her eyes. Aliyah's whole body was dripping wet, so the mare shook her body sending water everywhere but she still felt wet. With a snort the mare backed up for Elsa to come in. Why was this the only way? She thought , yes it was called the falls but couldn't there be another way to enter? Like a path? These Hidden falls horses must be very secretive or protective to have a waterfall that looked like it could not be entered, to enter their herd lands.
Her reaction to the waterfall brought forth a small chuckle from both equine and avian. Edgar took off then, trying to rub into Aliyah's face that he was not going to stick around. He could get up water free and warm. Plus, he could not risk soiling his pristine feathers. Looks are everything, so when you've got em, you've got to keep em.
Elsa's interest was piqued as Aliyah mentioned fleetingly that she wanted to be a warrior. Once they arrived at the heart of the Falls, Elsa could give her a little more information. For now, they needed to make it pass the wall of water that kept them from food, home and warmth. That was when the unicorn abruptly took off. Elsa watched with a cocked brow as the water consumed her. Following behind quietly, she met up with Aliyah in the small little cave.
It was only a few more steps through the dank cave before a vast land erupted before them. It was green, lush and full of trees. Off in the distance, the dull roar of every kind of Fall filled the silence. That was a perk of the Falls, you never felt alone because there was always some sort of noise. Turning, she gestured out towards the land, allowing Aliyah to take a look.
"So, you want to be a warrior, hmm?" Elsa asked skeptically. I mean, a lot of horses liked being a warrior, but it was a rough job. One cannot expect to remain pretty in pink if they take that route. "If that's what you're interested in, after we part you may want to seek out Rostislav or Oxy. They're in charge of the warriors here." With a shrug, she failed to add on the usual warning. One's a drunk, and the other is usually high. Here at the Falls, we have fantastic leadership. Quiet ironic considering that Midas was the head honcho and so completely different from both of his Legatus'. "So are you sure you wanna do this?" Elsa asked with all seriousness. If she wanted it, so be it, but if she was interested in something else, now was the time to speak up. Edgar returned then, swooping into his perch atop his soaked friend's head. Puffing up, he returned to his cocky, overly-confident self.
Aliyah gasped at the landscape before her, it was beautiful unlike she had ever seen. The mare listened to the falls with her eyes closed and head held up to the sky, smelling the fresh water made her think of the mountains where she was born. Home, Aliyah only rarely thought about it but the smell brought bad memories. When Elsa motioned for her to take a look around Aliyah took a few steps forward, her slightly still dripping mane didn't bother her as she was caught up in the landscape.
Aliyah looked back at the other mare as she spoke, "yes, once in my travels I joined a small group of horses who...liked to fight" she said putting her ears back slightly. It had been sort of a bachelor herd but for both stallion and mares looking for herds. Once again Aliyah listened to Elsa "where might I find them?"
She questioned. With a quick nod of her head she spoke "yes I am ready for a herd life at last" The mare looked to Edgar and stopped her hooves in a hello. Aliyah had been quiet unsure and ready to flee when she first met Elsa and Edgar, especially when they asked her to join their herd, but now she was leaning to joining ever step she took, the scenery and so far the horse she met where so very kind. Aliyah didn't trust horses easily leading from experience in her travels.
The story of her past proceeded out in a simple glimpse. She mentioned nothing other than an outcast band a fighting. Maybe it was truly nothing, but if she was like any of the others in Helovia, she had a reason to leave. Edgar leaned forward, entranced by the story. Even in those few words his mind began to reel. Good thing he couldn't speak. The nosy bird would be all up in others business if he could. Edgar was the neighborhood gossip girl (or rather boy).
When she asked of where she could find them, Elsa stifled a laugh. How was she supposed to explain where to find them? Hell, she didn't know where Oxy was half of the time and he was, sorta, kinda a thing with her. Well, yes they are a thing. They have children. They're bound whether they appreciate it or not. The other was a known drunk, although the fleeting glances and meetings might suggest he is otherwise preoccupied. Kiara had been pregnant when he stood next to her at the meeting a while back, at the same time the twins were growing. Ohh. Juicy. With a simple shrug Elsa continued, may as well let her know now rather than later. If she could prepare, maybe she could make it through a meeting with the roughest men around here. "Oxy and Rostislav are a special sort of warrior. They are in charge, and usually you can find the first high, considering his little plant should be growing. The other, he's a known drunk. Although both deserve a little respect, they are pretty good." She finished nonchalantly. There was the descriptors she had. As for actually finding them, well good luck with that. May as well officially accept her now, before she runs away. "Welcome then, Miss Aliyah. You'll join at the lowest rank of Tiro. However, once you get a little more experience under your hooves you'll be headed up the ladder in no time!" In reality Elsa had no idea of her skills, so it was up to her to reach the goals. Elsa nodded out towards the expanse of land ahead. "I can let you go explore should you wish. Most here are nice." She started with a wink. "Or, do you have any questions you need answered?" Edgar sat patiently atop Elsa's head, for once not sticking his nose where it didn't belong. He knew he was not the one to take any advice from.

@[Aliyah] her rank can be changed to Hidden Falls Tiro ^^ Also, if she has no questions and you want to get out threading elsewhere we can wrap up this thread in the next post. :) Or if you wish them to talk more that's cool too!
Aliyah put her ears back slightly as Elsa laughed, Aliyah waited for her to speak as the silence grew longer. Aliyah listened to Elsa as she finally spoke, what she heard did not surprise her but caused her to put her ears back on her head, "great a drunk and a high horse" she snorted, what a crazy bunch of horses. "Well if they are the lead warriors I hope their good" Aliyah added in as Elsa mentioned respecting them. As Elsa continued about the lowest rank Aliyah gave only a nod " I hope one can climb the ranks!" She said raising her head to meet Elsa's gaze, she had,had her head lowered since they got here the waterfall was a advantage and disadvantage to her.
Aliyah debated if she should explore or stay with Elsa, "thank you" she spoke and walked to Elsa, Aliyah gently nudged her with her nose as a sort of hug/ thank you. Aliyah was truly nervous and a little scared at joking this Hidden falls herd all new horses to meet. Aliyah lifted her head to Edgar and nudged him with her nose as well as a thank you. "Where would a newcomer go first in this land?" She questioned backing up slightly to give Elsa space. Millions of questions where flowing through her mind but she knew most would be answered naturally. Aliyah's mane and tail had finally dried she noticed which helped she did not want to meet her new herd members with a soaked body.
@[Elsa] like Aliyah asked where would I post/go to began?
C'est la vie. Everyone was always so timid about hearing that the warriors weren't exactly all in their right minds. Truth is, who actually is in their right mind? Considering that everyone has their own set of problems. It's what you do with these problems that builds you. If Elsa was judged by how right-minded she was... well she'd be seriously screwed. Like, seriously.
Though her determination was refreshing. She hoped to one day climb through the ranks and make her way to the top. Such powerful dreams those were, if completed they left a sparkling ray of light, if failed, well, the pain and anguish of never knowing ensues.
At the touch of Aliyah, Elsa just raised her brow. It wasn't very often that those around her were so touchy feely. Her own children had never been as close to her as this mare was. She'd let it pass though, no reason to not accept her gratitude. It made Elsa feel that she could at least do something right in her time alive. Ever eager to explore, Aliyah's embrace did not last and she catapulted into another question. "Wherever you want." She said while glancing around. "This is your life. Do what you want to do with it. I'm in no place to command you. If you want to explore, go wherever you'd like. If you want to meet your superiors, go seek them out." Elsa finished with a shrug, turning back to face Aliyah. "You will quickly learn that it is better to do what you know makes you happy, rather than trying to bend to the whims of others." Such philosophical shit Elsa. At least she sometimes thinks deeply. Turning, she began to walk away. Elsa was no use to Aliyah at this moment. She needed to determine her future path herself.

@[Aliyah] Basically you can do whatever! You can place open posts here in the Falls or in the unclaimed lands. Or, OOC you can go to the plot board and ask people for threads. There isn't a specific path she has to follow. ^^
