"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

The girl didn't like this, not one bit. The flowers in her hair were closed, a deep yellow, like rotting fungus, tell-tale of her fear. This place... it was dark, and she felt as if eyes were watching her even as she whirled and saw nothing. The little filly crept through the Dark Forest in trepidation, every step hesitant, her creamy ears pinned back against her snowy curls.
A noise startles her, and like a doe she takes off, sprinting through the wood, her heart thudding with every hoofbeat. She tried to remember her way out, but everything looked so different from how it had when she entered! In desperation she darted to the left, down a path that looked vaguely familiar. Yet soon enough the forest changed again, and she stumbled to a halt in a clearing, head whipping around, terror evident in the bright, screaming purple of her petals like poison.
Another noise, and she jerked to the side, shying at the phantom presence, before backing up until her rump hit a tree. Her chest heaved, blue eyes darting around before she did what ever child would logically do in such a situation.
"Ma-Ma-MAMMAAAAAAAA!" She screamed with all the strength in her lungs, crying out again and again in desperation and fear, gradually sinking down to her belly, legs folding over her face, covering her eyes. Her cream body trembled violently, her cries dying down to hiccuping sobs. She was lost and alone in the dark, and couldn't find her way out, and Mamma wasn't here or Unca' or Da'.
Valiance had seen Rue start to the head out of the Edge. Alas, he hadn't caught it in time to also alert Resplendence. You see, Res had told a few others to watch. She had needed sleep, and she had needed to mentor a few of the other nurses as well (to accomplish her doctor duties in other words). As soon as he had gathered her attention, though, she had stopped what she was doing (which she couldn't remember now, it wasn't as important as the fact that her daughter was wandering off alone) and ran off after her.
Too much distance lingered between the two, though. And, with Res's exhausted, post-labor frame, she did not have the same endurance she used to have. Valiance stayed ahead, keeping an eye on the darting, pale frame, and offering directions for Resplendence to follow. However, by the time that she was nearly caught up with Rue darkness was beginning to fall. Not only that, but the forest was hiding what little was left of this light.
Maroon glitter spread out across the forest floor - leaving a trail of where she had went - and her heart pounded. No glow was emitted from her glitter. It wasn't possible with the heart wrenching fear of losing her child again. In her head ran pleas in the form of prayers. Don't let the wolves take her. Don't let the wolves claim her like the others. Don't make me lose another child! She screams in her head only to have all of the noises STOP with the sound of branches cracking. DON'T TAKE HER! She begs, scrambling forward as Valiance starts to duck in and out of the trees - desperate for a glance of pale pink and white.
It was only when the screams, actual screams took root in Res' ear that she shot forth again. Valiance and Res both careening in the direction of the screams to find their baby curled up near a tree with her body trembling and hiccuping sobs wracking what little was left of her sanity. Legs were covering her face and Res could only stand and thank the Gods above that her child was alive and not physically wounded. Then, there was a small curse for whomever was supposed to be in charge of her child.
She inches in closer, murmuring sweet nothings to let her baby know that it was only her momma approaching. "My sweet flower. Ruta-Rue. Momma's here," she sings - fighting back the terror that had taken over her frame as she drops to her knees in front of Rue and tries to pull the little one against her barrel. See, if the young one could hear her heartbeat, and concentrate on that she could calm down. "Momma's not leaving. You're not alone." she whispers, gently running her maw over her baby's hair as Valiance spread out across their baby's back, covering her in his wings and feathers.
Rue was theirs. No one would touch her - not right now, not yet.

When she heard the sound of approach, the girl only cowered further, until the soothing lilt of her mother's voice reached her pinned ears, and Rue looked up just as she was enveloped by the soft warmth of her dam and she leaned in, pressing herself against Resplendence's body. "I-I want'd to see things like you and Da' and Unca' and find pretty things."
She pressed closer, her trembles gradually dying away, as cocooned as she was by her dam and her mother's bonded. Soon the fear left, and she pulled back her head, looking up at Rest in excitement, as if the terror from not even five minutes past had never happened. "Ooo maybe Mamma help Rue find pretty things?" She beamed, then whirled, forgetting Valiance upon her back and bounded towards the trees to take off again, long filly legs carrying her with an eager spring.
Gone was the fear, for her mother was here and her mother was, of course, invincible and unbreakable. Closed flowers bloomed pink in delight as she paused, looking over her shoulder at Res, blue eyes bright. "C'mon Mamma! Lets go exploooooore!" She whirled and returned to Res, bouncing in a circle around her, chanting 'explore' happily.
Rue seemed to bounce back quickly, for to her nothing could go wrong with both Res and Valiance here. A thought struck the filly, and she paused her skipping, looking at her Mam curiously. "Mamma? Will I get a Val'nce too?" She looked at her mother's ruby dragon, grinning at him in mischief that hid under the guise of pure, utter innocence. Slowly she crept towards him with every intent of tackling the dragon and hugging him close. She couldn't help it; he was fluffy.
