"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Elsa,
Feel lucky for what you have, when you have it. Happily ever after doesn’t mean happy forever.
Elsa kept a slow, but still persistent pace on their trek back to the Edge. Being an equine, it made it difficult to get there quickly, but both Elsa and Edgar enjoyed the fleeting moments they spent on the ground. Very rarely were they grounded for long treks, most of the time she had an aerial view of everything. Now she could spot the occasional wildlife, and watch as the little leaves danced in the summer wind.
Once they reached the border of the Edge, Elsa slowed to a very lazy walk, hoping to pull Rie up alongside her so she could escort her around like a true herd member. Frankly, Rie got lucky with Elsa being in such high spirits. Normally she was very cut off, and quiet, but even now she hummed occasionally to fill the silence, and Edgar filled up the rest with his chirps toward his fellow bird friends who were perched on the trees.
”Welcome to the World’s Edge, Rie. I do hope you like the view.” Elsa smiled sheepishly gesturing to the landscape around her. Hopefully sometime soon they would be greeted by another herd member. It was odd not having the power anymore to welcome people in, so she would just have to wait until others arrived. Hopefully it wasn’t Tembovu, but knowing her luck the hulking giant would come rain on her parade. ”Someone else should be with us soon, I know you mentioned you aren’t a fighter, but here in the Edge we have many places for you to find your niche. If healing, or even crafting were things that interested you, we have fantastic members that lead those sects. They’re quite the family together too.” Edgar peeped in agreement, and soon let out a loud squawk. Elsa was perfectly capable of letting out her own call, but I guess he decided he should be the one to be such a loud boy. "Sorry about that.. he isn't shy about announcing his presence." Elsa laughed lightly, trying to hide the embarrassment that lurked just beneath her skin.
The journey, as cautioned before, was long. Rie didn't mind it, not really. Her legs protested a few times when she pushed beyond her limits and ignored rest periods, and then she fell into a rhythm as she followed Elsa. It was refreshing to just keep going rather than pause so often- when had she gotten so soft that she needed to rest as often as her body seemed to think she did? Her ears twitched back and forth at the thought and, ultimately, she snorted softly to herself. It didn't matter, not really. She was reminding herself how it was done now and that's what counted.
The soft chirps of the birds, and Edgar, and the occasional humming of her guide were the only sounds, aside from the steady thud of hooves of the various terrains, that filled the air. With a huffed breath she tilted her head up to the other mare, curiously twitching her ears forward as Else began to speak again. World's Edge?
Rie paused, raising her head high to look about them. Sure enough the world had slipped by in a haze concealed by her inward focused thoughts and the terrain had thoroughly changed again on her. She flicked her tail and watched the area before turning her attention back to Elsa. Someone... else? So... we wait at the border then? Rie couldn't quite get herself to voice the thought and she paid only half of her attention to Else as the mare continued to speak, her own eyes trailing over the area.
Healers, crafting... family. She opened her mouth to say something about all of this when Edgar chose that moment to sqawk. Her comment turned into a chuckle and Rie shook her head. "He's quite alright, Elsa." she answered, still chuckling.

Tembovu & Mbwene
True to the Icebound’s unfortunate luck, the Elephant King stood not far—most assuredly in ear-shot of the loud squawk Edgar let out to announce someone’s arrival at the Edge’s border. Mbwene’s head turned, attention shifting away from the dried grasses her trunk was shoveling into her mouth. A sadness flashed through their bond; she missed the vivacious Zephyr. He was a companion that had a penchant for grouchiness as large as Mbwene’s.
Tembovu, too, shared this sharp, poignant emotion that pierced his chest. His large ivory hooves stilled in the mist-laden soil. His head rose, cobalt eyes peering through the thick, evergreen forest as he considered walking away from the sound of Edgar. Not only did Edgar no longer approve of the Elephant King, he also was surely with Elsa. And the giant man did not want to force his company on the Icebound… not after what he had done.
But he sighed, knowing what duty demanded. His ears and nostrils told him that no other were near enough to greet Elsa at the border. Long, thick legs of ivory and ebony begin to cut through the mist, bringing his hulking frame to heed Edgar’s squawk.
“Elsa,” the greeting dip of his head was deep, deferent; his navy eyes were sad, apologetic—as if to say he was sorry to be the one to greet her. He did not allow himself to gaze at her; it would do neither of them good. Mbwene, however, ignored the Icebound entirely. She did, though, skewer her companion with a pointed stare: why have you ignored me? It seemed to say.
But then both King and elephant companion turned their attention to the newcomer. “Hello, I am Tembovu, and as King, I welcome you to the Edge. Elsa, I am sure, has told you of our ranks. Is there a task you with to pursue?” His deep voice rumbled, as his he studied the equine mare. She was slender, draped in grey and specked with white. His dark gaze landed on her clear, bright blues as he awaited an answer—and a name.
Feel lucky for what you have, when you have it. Happily ever after doesn’t mean happy forever.
The embarrassment of her obnoxious companion still ran rampant, even though Rie seemed to be chuckling at his antics. Edgar had his own weird, garbled laugh as Elsa shied away from the embarrassment he was causing her. The damn bird knew how to press every button- and she was beginning to regret wanted a companion so badly. He lightly pecked at her forehead, stubbornly reminding her that he was her savior that was transcended from death to be her guardian angel. He was delusional, to say the least.
But the atmosphere dropped suddenly at the arrival of the man she wanted to see the least. Her luck was a solid zero, so really why was she expecting Alysanne to come along? Her body tensed, and Edgar stopped moving, meeting his companion’s stare with his own blank one. He loved the elephant dearly, but it was the hatred for her bonded that kept them so far apart. He let out a low, mournful chirp toward her, as he did his best to calm Elsa with good vibes. They were, in fact, not alone.
Elsa, forcibly smiling flicked her tail and put on a mask she had so devotedly crafted over the years. Bright, loving, and caring, when inside she was screaming- dying. ”Elephant King.” Her own acknowledgement was quick at to the point. He was no longer his name, she could not associate him with the name she swore she’d love. He was no longer Tembovu, he was just the elephant king.
”I suppose this would be better for you, he can guide you where you need to go. He does know what is best for the herd.” There was the littlest hint of sarcasm, but it wasn’t a lie. She was no longer involved in the shuffling of bodies around the ranks. That’s what he was for. She was just here as a meat shield in case of attack. Just call her Elsa the Meat Shield.
Oh! Rie twitched hear ears forward, and back, as she glanced between Elsa and Tembovu. She chose not to remark upon the tension the mare seemed to express in the King's presence ( Elephant King? What was wrong with his name? It was a perfectly fine name... ) With a mental snort she gave Elsa a small smile. "Thank you, Elsa." Was that the right thing to say?
She sighed softly, turning back to the king ( good gracious, this was not what she had expected to encounter upon arriving here. But... still, it did make a certain sort of sense. After all, the king did need to be aware of what went on in his own lands, no? ) She offered Tembovu a warm smile. "Thank you, ah... I'm not entirely sure what you'd prefer to be addressed as. Uhm... there's... three? Options now." The speckled mare couldn't quite stop the sheepishness from creeping into her posture and expression.
"I'm Malmuirie, ah, Rie if you'd like. And I was actually... uhm..." Well, now, this was new. Flustered, Rie? Really? ...... oh hush you, ..... hahahaha! She sighed and hung her head slightly, flopping her ears to the sides. "I actually hoped to know more about the herd, and the others possibly, before making a decision. I don't want to commit to a place and later learn I am an ill-fit for the location, and it's current occupants." She smiled again, apologetically this time, and took a deep breath to straighten herself out. "I would very much like to see the lands, and learn. When Elsa described it to me, I confess, my curiosity was peaked." With a tendency, apparently, to favor the behemoth monoliths that forests were, compared to the desert and sparse oasis' that she'd been raised in it didn't escape her the irony of her preferences now. Of course, they weren't quite the same without her friend.
