He had no idea what it was about the steppe that brought him here again and again. The grullo paint trotted through the grass, the sun on his back, experiencing some amount of grief. In his homeland, there was barely a fleck of snow to be found anywhere- islands don't make for good Snow production, after all. He loved the brisk air, the way the snow crunched underhoof, the chill that left his coat tingling... It all made him feel full of energy. So when he saw the Frostbreath Steppe was giving up it's ice to conform to the heat of TallSun, he felt the loss.

That wasn't to say the flowers weren't pretty. He just preferred ice, to be honest. The stallion trotted onward through the lush grass until he came across the scent of a mare. He stopped, and his heart began to beat a little faster until he realized it wasn't Artemis. He flicked an ear as his heart relaxed and he felt his excitement physically leave him. It left curiosity in it's wake. Who was out here in the middle of nowhere?

Picking up his pace until he was cantering across the turf, the feathers on his legs swishing with the exaggerated movement, the stallion soon came to the place where she was standing. A black mare, much darker than his own color, with white on her face and dripping down her back, stood on her own. She was a unicorn much like the girl who had his heart under lock and key. He slowed to a stop and nickered at her to announce his presence.

"Y'all be needin' any assistance, ma'am?" he asked, trying to appear polite and respectful. He had his silver-blue eyes on her horn- remembering the last time he had insulted a unicorn. The scar on his chest still twinged at the memory. The grulla tobiano wouldn't be surprised if she thought him blind. His eyes had a way of convincing folks of that. Still, he gazed at her intently between long, thick strands of white forelock and flicked a fly off his rump with his pure white tail.
