It was Sohalia's idea, if you hadn't already guessed that. Alllllll of it - but of course, that should be fairly obvious. If you asked poor Gaucho, he probably couldn't even articulate the events that led up to this travesty....All he remembered, was Sohalia working with him on his were-dss, and his mentioning that she knew lots of were-dds, and asked where they came from. With an enthusiastic cry, she had wrapped her wings around him, smothering him with nuzzles of praise, and telling him how glad she was that he wanted to learn how to ree-d. Not wanting to upset her new-found excitement, he had only smiled, and nodded as she bounded about, talking about a lie-berry, and a war-drobe. And while he wasn't entirely certain what sort of fruit she was talking about, the idea of a war-drobe seemed interesting enough. Could this ree-eed really be so bad?

He had never been so wrong.

The next day, she had brought a thick bolt of cloth, brilliantly blue, and with Mara's reluctant aid, had tied it around his shoulders. She had also attached a golden bow, and white cuffffffs. If that wasn't enough, she had spent the rest of the morning pulling at his mane and tail - and adding some sort of goop that made it all slick, and stay together. She had told him he looked hand-sum, and while he smiled and nodded, he decided that whatever this hand-sum was, he didn't want any more of it. Excitedly, she had pointed him towards the lie-berry, which had turned out to be a building, and not food at all.

Ree-eed Mara mentally probed to Gaucho, as he reluctantly moved to enter the building. Grunting in response as his hooves thudded over the carpet, Gaucho paused to let his eyes adjust to the dimly lit Library. As he did so, the doors creakily shut behind him, causing dust to puff up from the un-swept ground, and sending his lean form forward a few steps out of surprise (for he was not well versed in the mechanics of buildings, and had never had a door shut behind him before). Snapping his now well-oiled tail, he advanced into the center of the room, between the two staircases. Rather thoughtfully, he nosed a book on the top of a pile, meaning to open it. However, as he was quite unfamiliar with books, and their weight and so on, the book flew away from him, crashing onto the floor and knocking over another stack of books, about shoulder height. With a grimace, as the complexity of the situation began to sink in, and a column of dust began to rise up, Gaucho heaved a sigh and cast a glance around the rest of the room.

And there she was.

Were it not for the flickering of the light, he might have missed her completely - thought her merely an assortment of shadows. But no - she was there. Oddly alluring in this strange and foreign place. Had another stallion been sent by their lover into the dark and secluded presence of another female, they might be skeptical. A trap perhaps? To test his fidelity to Sohalia? But you should all know by now, this is of course not what Gaucho was thinking at all. Instead he was thinking...

"WAR-DROBE", he shouted loudly, his husky voice echoing amongst the books, and likely annoying the wizard above. Sohalia hadn't sent him here to ree-eed! She had sent him to fight! And this - this mare - must be the war-drobe!

With a broad, enthusiastic grin, Gaucho lunged forward, his large hooves finding easy purchase upon the weird not-quite-grass ground. He tired to advance towards her head-on, angling himself to try and pass on her right side. He lowered his head inwards slightly, to try and deflect against her horn, as he had learned to do in prior battles with yewkneekorns. At the same time, he tried to throw his weight right once he thought their shoulders were parallel, trying to gauge her with his collar of spikes (that he had refused to let Soh take off). Continuing his momentum, his head tilted slightly, trying to nip at her wither, or barrel as he tried to pass.
