I am someone to hate Doggedly did the former soldier and mercenary trudge on, wings slightly lifted from his body in an attempt to guide any form of air under the feathered appendages and cool his form. It wasn't the heat, it was the humidity. The lack of breeze. The dead air. The dead land. Was this place abandoned? Wild? Did it lack colonization of any kind? The pathetic little cheeps and pips and chips of his overheated feathered kin reached his ears and Dalibor glanced up. Even the birds weren't moving in this sweltering midday. He cast about for any sign of water, or any hint towards its direction and found none. Damn. He was desperately thirsty. Movement on his left caught his sharply perceptive gaze and he snapped his attention around, raising his wings more to make himself appear larger than he was. Dalibor was aware he was not naturally imposing but his reaction was instinctual, driven by the genetic code within him that was avian. Quick inspection told him that the entity approaching was doing so cautiously. Wise. He chose to honor the smart move and decided he would be civil. As civil as his deeply irritated demeanor would allow. Lack of breeze did not allow scent recognition, so Dalibor could not be overly certain whether the figure approaching was a mare or a stallion. A bird of some sort seemed to be with it, a black thing that did not look very familiar to him. Interesting. Dalibor drew closer as the figure said hello, noting by the voice that it was a female. A female that seemed to only have one wing. The anger that exploded within him was like a violent volcano and his steps became short and punched as he half-trotted to her. His raptorial eyes roved over the missing wing and he frowned, expression fierce. "Who did this to you?" he demanded.  |
