Solace sung softly to himself as he walked through the threshold. His deep voice one of the only sounds audible to him. Lyrics rolled off his tongue in a sweet tune. The earthy draft had returned to this familiar soil to seek out the many wanderers that entered Helovia here, the place with a simple name that suit so well, the Threshold. Solace found himself often spending more time traveling between home and there, than at home. Part of him longed to simply spend his time remaining within the Foothills, exploring every corner of it, and meeting more members of his herd. Recruiting had become his duty though, not by any order, but by personal choice. This was something he could do that contributed in his mind greatly to the herd. Each time he brought a new recruit back, it strengthened the herd and gave someone a home. If that wasn’t useful, Solace wasn’t entirely sure what was.

Recruiting hadn’t been the only purpose for him stumbling into the Threshold. It had been some time since he had seen the mare, Cantante. She had wandered off from their ‘safe spot’ which made him feel concerned, and a bit of a failure. He had promised to protect the mare, and now, he had no idea where she was. At the same time he couldn’t protect someone that had no desire to be, and he would just keep looking until he found her. At the same time, he would be looking for someone to offer a home to, and if they didn’t desire a home he would at the very least inform them of what lay within the land of Helovia.

Solace ceased his humming when he saw someone off in the distance. He approached and studied them for a long moment. Everything about this stranger told they had no interest in companionship, and typically he averted individuals like this, but he couldn’t help but approach them. No matter what kind of body language they had, there could be more going on in their head.

“Greetings friend,” Solace called as he walked toward the stranger. “I am Solace, warrior of the Windtossed Foothills. I welcome you to the land of Helovia.” He kept his distance as was typical when he approached a potential recruit, but this one he kept his distance more for his sake than for hers. There was no telling what this mare could be like, for all he knew she was incredibly violent, but the only way to know was for him to interact with her.

Speech.
