His strong frame weaved through the dark wilderness, shadows coating each and every atom in the land. He didn't know why it was dark, an eternal night, a true disaster? Was Mother Nature angry and saw fit to plunge her world into darkness to teach the inhabitants a lesson in her power? Or perhaps it was the result of the Gods...? The darkness played tricks with his crowded mind, merging the lines between past and present, a sense of time fabricated into nothingness with the eternal lack of light. Upon his withers perched Terra, his fluffy grey and ruby form unmoving as if he was indeed part of the Spanish blood that wandered the forest. It was when his tiny head tilted and he sat straighter, dark pupils to the heavens that the bay equine halted, neck coiling around to look at his companion who was truly fixated upon the skies. Unsure of what captured his friend so, the stallion turned those honest emerald orbs skyward, sucking in a heavy breath as he witnessed the first faint rays of a long awaited dawn shred the inky black sky. "High Ho High Ho, It's Back to the map we go..." Garnock whispered softly to his companion who chose to chirp absently, apparently forgetting the ability to communicate that was unique to these types of friends only. Dawn. The endless night was over, at long, long last. Garnock sighed happily, ebon kissers curving into a gentle smile as Terra took flight, his tiny body flitting upwards through the shadowy trees and disappearing through the canopy. Garnock's tail lashed quickly to his kinds as sturdy ebony legs would move him into a collect, compact trot, his outline rounded as was typical of his bloodlines. Above him, Garnock heard the ever beautiful song of his companion, joy thick through his well-practised lyrics but the stag didn't pause to enjoy the music. The distinctly earthy palette that draped his form merged easily into the backdrop before the Andalusian came upon a tiny, tiny clearing in the trees. To be fair, it was more of a minor scarcity in the treeline than a clearing, but even so. Topaz shades coloured the newly rejuvenated sky as Garnock stopped, rolling backwards on his powerful hinds and reaching upwards silently to the dawn, fine, majestic Andalusian lines perfectly silhouetted. The ebony tassels that formed his thick forelock spread across his features as the stallion snorted into the crisp morning air as Terra finished his beautiful song and returned to his spot upon Garnock's withers as the equine landed on all fours.

The murky smoke-like substance that seemed to plunge the endless forest into dim darkness offered no hope to weary, lonely travellers. It was only those of herds who set their hooves or claws upon the darkened terrain with the slightest joy in themselves - the chance for new members and potential mates was always inviting. As a wanderer however without the home so many had become accustomed to, curious happiness thwarted the riddled corridors that formed the mind of the being at the chance of maybe, just maybe having a family or at least a home. It could be said that his robin friend Terra was family, and indeed he was, but equine family. A mate and children, grandchildren maybe? Logic, though, ever so kindly pointed out that being a nine year old, few mares would send their eye his way and his tendency to wander hardly made him the best father or mate. Perhaps he was destined to love no other except Mother Nature herself? Of course that was a weird concept, but when one sang to himself and told stories to youngsters of the natural world, and sometimes the supernatural, was "love" really for him? Perhaps...perhaps not. Fate would let him know at some point, and if death came before love then his answer would be clear. Yet thinking of forever living with none other than his little bird friend brought through the potential to feel lonely, and that was where his desire to be one of a herd came into play.

Flapping furiously through the darkness, the warrior female scanned the area with narrowed eyes. There had never been a time of more fury for her. First she had a nightstand, God knows how with a freaking stallion she didn't even know, resulting in a child. The fiery outcast wanted to join the Edge-- not just for the sake of Kodoven, but also because...well she was sick me tired of not having a herd.
Because living in a herd did not restrict her freedom to wander around the world and continue getting in brawls and meeting others. But this wasn't the worst of it. Due to her spunky personality, she just had to accidently make enemies with one of the inhabitants. Great! Just great! The voice sarcastically jabbed at her mind. Now, the mare wasn't ready to have a child. She didn't know their basic needs, and she was trying to be a good parent, but she failed. Her poor blind boy wandered off and "apparently" made friends with a mare named Confutatis, that basically stole him away from her. Gritting her teeth together, Storm let out a little growl of fury. She tried so hard to be a good mother. Couldn't she just walk away and leave her son in the hands of a safer home? But no, she couldn't. That would be beating a terrible parent, and total abandonment. What hatred would Kodoven feel towards her as he grew up, knowing that his mom sucked, and didnt even fight for him. He's in better hands, a calm soothing voice arose in her mind. But no, she was going to find Confutatis, and try to get her so back, or come to some sort of agreement to where she was able to always visit him, and let the other experienced mare take care of him. I truly love you, my child. At least he was safe with her during the dark times. Sighing, the mare blinked watching the beautiful rays if dawn paint the sky many colors. Sighing deeply, the pained Pegasus spotted two figures below, and dove gracefully down to meet them. Blinking her eyes, she walked up to the filly figure and stared at the Andalusian stallion. "Hello", her vocals sounded almost curt, but she shook it off. Don't be mad at them. They didn't do anything. Flipping a strand of hair out of ear eyes, the mare tried to approach in a...kinder way. "I'm Storm. What are you two doing out here?" Her voice sounded snappy and awkward, and at the end, the moody mare plastered a half heart smile on her maw.

Solace wandered into the Threshold. How long had it been since he himself was here? The last time he had been wandering to Helovia for the very first time. He moved a slow pace and glanced around, hoping to find some kind of new creature. There was only one way for the Foothills to make its recovery, and that was to find fresh blood. It was time for him t show the dedication he had preached about at the herd meeting. It was also time for him to try and prove some kind of worth to his herd.
Off in the distance, he heard the voices of others. His ears perked forward and he walked forward. For the moment he would simply keep his distance and observe who and what was prowling about. He saw two mares and a stallion. Each of the mares had already spoken to the bay stallion, Solace assumed he was the fresh blood they were pursuing. Slowly the giant stepped out into the open and revealed himself to the strangers. He dipped his head at both of the mares and then the stallion. None of them were familiar to him, but then again most of his herd mates were strangers as well. Out of the corner of his eye, Solace noticed the wolf, but since it deemed no threat he ignored it. He was still trying to understand the strange concept of companions. Now was not the time to ponder the strangeness of this land and the other inhabitants companions, it was time for him to test his diplomatic abilities. “Greetings brother,” he said dipping his head once again to the other stallion, “And to you well sisters.” His gaze lingered on the two mares for but a moment and then shifted back to the stallion. “My name is Solace, and I am a warrior from the Windtossed Foothills, and I belong to a herd known as The Grey.” He paused for a very long moment. Would it be rude to simply just throw the invitation at this strange stallion? “May I ask who you are?” His eyes were on the bay stallion. There was definite potential for this stallion to join amongst their ranks, he appeared to be strong. His gaze drifted around at the other mares. Solace silently wondered if any of them belonged to the other herd that had offered him a home, what was it called, Asylum? That mattered little to him for the time being.

Again the Spanish stallion snorted, his long thick whipcord lashing his sides and he pawed at the ground quietly, thrilled that the dawn had finally graced such a dark sky. Terra was joyful as well - pale grey feathers positively expanded in size as he continued to chirp. Shush Terra! I'll get meself a headache soon! The equine interrupted after a moment or so, chuckling through their still rusty mental bond. The robin huffed in one of the most amusing ways he could but silenced himself, just as it became apparent they were being watched. There was the sent of a fellow equine in the Threshold, yet Garnock didn't wonder why he was being watched. Duh, the claiming grounds. The grounds moved beneath his large hooves and steadily the silent bay craned his neck around, emerald hues piercing the gaze of the younger filly, noticing her slightly strange movement. She moved so cautiously, her posture that any equine that didn't have experience under their belt would have not realised the possibility that it was all an act and she was indeed not shy but entirely confident. Or...she was shy. Either one.
She spoke, her chords fluid and somewhat easy despite her appearance. A momentary glance was offered at the ivory critter at her hooves before the pleasant stud smiled kindly at her, flicking his auds absently. "Only what all who come here search for - a home." The Andalusian told her calmly, swishing his ebony tail as tassels of his forelock slid to cover his gaze as if he ordered them to. No matter. A sharp toss of his fine skull saw them flying out of his features and his gaze was clear on the femme once more but a sharp noise prevented any further conversation, a call obviously of the equids, btu so awkward it seemed Garnock could easily have doubted himself. The bay stallion stepped fluidly back a pace as the slate pegasus dove gracefully to greet the pair, her gaze full of barely held fury. Garnock had half a mind to ask why, but Terra was quick to mention the outcomes of asking an angry woman what was wrong. Her curt voice greeted him and the bay dipped his head respectfully toward the mare, returning the greeting only in a quieter way as the two mares stood by each other. Everything about her screamed anger even as she attempted to be kinder, but the Spanish blooded stallion held no fear for her outburst if one came. "Searching merely for a herd, m'lady. I'm Garnock." He introduced himself in a hushed tone, not wanting to force her over the edge with a sharp comment, and it was after that simple reply that he fell silent once more, standing before the mares, awaiting any further judgement. Upon his withers, Terra grew uncertain of the situation. It was not long before yet a third stranger made their presence known - thankfully a stallion. He was strong, it was obvious in his stride and when he introduced himself as a warrior, Garnock's assumption was confirmed. The Andalusian dipped his chocolate crown to Solace and stood facing the three strangers, examining them before Solace once again caught his attention with a simple question. And this time when his heavy forelock covered his even features, the bay allowed it to remain as he answered this newcomer. "I'm known as Garnock. If you do not mind such a question, could you tell me more of this herd you hail from, The Grey?" He asked softly as his companion flitted quickly to a branch overhead, beady eyes surveying the other equines, watching them carefully in case he was needed to call a warning to the bay stallion. Garnock held faith that these three strangers were not here to attack him merely recruit him, but the potential for bloodshed was not overlooked. After all, he had to choose a herd at the end of the day and rivalries were just as common as robins. Emerald gaze shifted between the females for a moment, expecting them to speak, but he was careful not to stare...

Not long after the gray mare had brusquely entered the little group, another brute appeared with a muscular gray pelt that rippled as he walked. His mane was a forest green color, and he kindly dipped his head white head in a greeting. The gray mare was finally starting to calm down, taking normal breaths again instead of huffing furious ones.
Out of respect in the days that she was a militant, Storm returned the courteous bow. She was trained to fight, not to be petty and prance around like a filly. She would calm down and solve her internal problem like a diplomat instead of grumble and complain at everyone she met. "Greetings", the woman returned his tone, serious but still hinting kindness. "Oh. You're a warrior", Storm said. Of course he was. Solace was very well built with a giant draft frame, though he was slightly shorter than Storm, though she had a more lithe build. He also seemed serious and bright. The perfect fighter. With a sly smile, the mare continued watching him, only to hear the other stallion reply. "It's a pleasure to meet you Sir", bowing her head at the Andalusian bay. "My name is Storm", ignoring her last name, the woman kept it at that almost completely calm though in the deep recesses of her mind she could not stop thinking of her son taken under the wing of that...that witch! Shifting her gaze at the filly, and then back to Garnock and Solace, she awaited to what the draft had to say. She was interested in the Foothills herd, but the mare still had her mind set on the Edge.

I just want to apologize, because when I wrote that post I was dense and hadn't realized the Grey had disbanded. Nowadays it is simply the Foothills. My most sincere apologies for misinforming you!

No problem, I worked out they were the Foothills anyway. :)

if you want to go ahead and start the next "chapter" of this in the herd lands, as long as whoever the leader is played by agrees, we can continue! :D Forgive by negligence at replying as well, really sorry x.x | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
