When at first I learned to speak,
I used all my words to fight</style>

This was getting ridiculous.

All Gaucho could hear was tsking if he moved, and Sohalia's laughter, and Mara's own reptilian laugher in his mind. How the white mare had convinced his companion to participate in this ridicule, he would never know. Women he thought, and grunted - which only caused the girls to poke and prod him more.

This tournament had seemed like such a good idea at the time, but now, as the costumes became more elaborate, Gaucho wasn't so sure. Still, he stood patiently, while garland was wrapped around his large frame, and holly placed behind his ears and woven into his mane. His antlers were adorned with tinsel, and bells were placed around his hooves. He had tried to protest, saying that the bells would make his movements obvious, but Sohalia had just shrugged, and commented that he liked challenges. Somewhere, in his primitive brain, he could sense that that was a cheap argument, but of course, as we all know, Gaucho could not articulate this point.

Finally, when enough was enough, he felt at least 10 pounds heavier. A red cape was once again strung over his shoulders and attached to his spiked collar - but this one had a thick collar of white fluff. Bells adorned his ankles, and tinsel and holly were thrown in what felt like random clusters all over. Once Sohalia pulled away, Gaucho tossed his head, causing glitter to fall onto the dry Throat sands.

"Done now?!' He inquired, as Mara returned to his antlers with a mocking hiss. Yes. 'Done now' Sohalia replied, turning away and laughing.

Women.

Ho ho ho Mara whispered mentally as the pair glided to the marsh, hissing with glee as Gaucho snorted, which caused his whole body to release glitter and the sound of twinkling bells. Snapping his teeth together, he angled himself downwards to the marsh, and forced his body to simply collapse and break the boughs that barred his way. As he neared the ground - he quickly realized there wasn't much ground. As his large bell-clad hooves touched down, they were almost immediately swallowed up by thick, muddy, sludge. With a grunt, Gaucho raised a foreleg out of the 'water', and shook it slightly to see if his bell would still twinkle. As much as he hated this costume, he didn't want to disappoint Sohalia. Indeed the bell did twinkle...but it was no longer a Christmas bell...

It was a dinner bell.

From the surrounding water, eyes began to appear, and then nostrils. Slowly, the prehistoric and telltale signs of crocodiles began to appear, as Gaucho continued to prance in the water, trying to shake the mud from his bells. Having never encountered crocodiles before, Gaucho was unaware of their movements, or that this was paradigmatic crocodile terrain. It was only as an entire head suddenly appeared, and stout legs began to propel the creature towards him, that Mara's hiss rang out in his ears. His tinselled' skull turned back to see a large creature moving towards him at a pace he could barely believe. With a grunt, Gaucho moved to lunge forward, straining to pull his large hooves from the water, which now felt suction-cupped into the muck. The warrior felt teeth clamp onto his rear, left hoof, scraping away at the thin skin, and pulling off the band of bells that had been there. Pain erupted as the teeth pulled away and dirty mud filled the laceration, but Gaucho pushed forward to a slightly dryer patch of land. Mara served as his eyes behind, as his own gaze searched forward, spying a darker coloured mare - a yewwneekorn, ahead.

BAIT his mind concluded, as he rushed towards Delinne, slightly favouring his injured back leg as he slogged through the mud towards the dry ground. Aiming to come at her nearly head on, Gaucho lowered his antlers in preparation to ward off any attacks from her horn. His goal, would be to slam his left shoulder into her own left - either trying to push her to the left, or backwards - he didn't really care. Anything that would put her in the water, and serve as a distraction for those things. Once near, he lowered his left shoulder, simultaneously trying to push, as well as scrape her shoulder and wither-area with his spiked-collar. He assumed if these things had a taste for blood, then they would be attracted if his opponent already smelled juicy.

Behind him, he could hear snapping jaws, and the sound of jingle-bells slowly being crushed.

Gaucho's bells attract the crocodiles. After being bit, Gaucho runs towards the patch of land, and see's Delinne. He runs at her, and tries to push her either to the left, or backwards, into the water. He uses his spikes to try and open a wound on her shoulder to attract the crocodiles.]
