Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall

Nestling himself in his home, the Executioner assumed his normal routine of patrolling the borders early morning, when the sun just begins to rise above the horizon, taking a break to eat and rest before patrolling again as the sun sinks below the plain. During his break Locket would eat and rest his weary legs, thoughts of his quest still nestled in the back of his mind. When the sun shifted ever closer to the horizon he would stretch his sooty legs by running a few laps before beginning his patrol, taking things slowly.

While he grazed, trying to keep away from the heat of the sun, the stallion thought of his quest. He needed to find a white bear, a silver dragon and a bird. All that resided in or use to reside in the Foothills. Lifting his head, the Executioner realized that the Chieftess had a bird, and a smile crossed his lips. The next time he ran into her he would have to speak with her about his quest. Shaking his mane, he lets his dark curled locks readjust and fall against his neck.

Returning to his normal position to start his patrol, the stallion walks forward, his stomach now full, his body fueled up and ready to go. Jade eyes find the sun sinking behind the horizon with a slow, silent movement. Colors dance against the sky, leaving Locket in awe. The color reflects in his eyes, his lashes batting as a bright beam of light hits his pools. A smile is placed on his face, the stallion nearly forgetting how beautiful Helovian sunsets are. Especially in the Foothills, where Locket could stand tall on the hill and admire the color works.

Clearing his throat, the sooty chesnut pulls his weight along, cloven hooves slicing up the fresh Tallsun grasses as he gallops. His dark banners wave, curls bouncing with every stride. Jaded eyes are found drifting to the sky yet again, Locket longing to share this moment with the companion he will soon earn. I'm coming.. He murmurs within his mind, thinking of a little panda cub waiting beside the Earth God and running for him when he returns after completing his quest.

While Phaedra glistened like a star, she certainly did not feel like one. There were a few days, that she wished she could slip into non-existence, to dive and hide in the shadows. In these later days as Chieftess, the golden-girl truly understood the full weight of the words Ophelia spoke as she left - and the wisdom that Phaedra had been too blind to see, the day she 'captured' her former pale leader. New faces arrived daily, and of those, Phaedra constantly wondered if any would betray them, as Confutatis had. She cared little about their wandering gazes and obvious looks of contempt at her dazzling array of beauty - Phaedra was not quite so callous that she could be wounded by jealousy or dissent at how she had attained her title. What she did care for, likely more than most would guess, was this herd. It was a passing of the torch - given to her long, long ago, by Ophelia. Ophelia who had found her in the Threshold, and taken her in. Who had welcomed her into the Grey and given her a title and a job. It was she who gifted her the magic that allowed the once-spy to walk silently, and it was Ophelia's rank that she now held. But all was not well.

The Foothills it seemed, stood for nothing. And the sooty-spy worried that it would fall at any moment.

Sighing deeply, the spy glided through the air easily, allowing the warm Tallsun air-currents to gently decide her direction. At her side, Stella trilled brightly, her orangey-yellow face beaming with pleasure at flying with her bonded. Phaedra smiled and nodded to her companion, gently allowing her thoughts of grief and doubt to waft away on the breeze. She soared with radiant brilliance, like a falling star, shining bright in the light of day.

Down below, her sea-green gaze fell upon Locket - a warrior who had lived her far longer than She. Amused, she coasted lower, allowing her lithe form to twist nimbly in the air, until her long and lean legs finally touched down upon the ground. Tossing her crown breathlessly, Phaedra allowed her creamy forelock to tangle in an elegant way down her muzzle, as she advanced towards the warrior. "Hey there sugar" She called to him joyfully, her voice a pleasant mixture of flirtatiousness and melody. In the sky, Stella continued to circle, enjoying being in flight.

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all

His mind if relieved of thought as a shadow swings over his head, his instinct to duck to avoid being hit. Once he feels as though the shape has passed him by, he tilts his crown to get a better look at the flying equine. His ears flick forward as he realizes that he is presented with the Opulent, the Chieftess of the Hills. A smile crosses his lips as he watches her land, his leafy green gems watching each step she takes to get closer to him. Her lips open as her melodic words flow, coated with a layer of flirtatiousness. Locket bows his head in greeting to the lead of the Foothills, opening his pale lips to respond to the golden mare.

"G'day, Chieftess. How are you in this late 'noon?" He keeps walking however, not wanting to stop his patrol to speak with the Chieftess. His eyes drifting over her feminine frame, her coat sparkling with a thousand gems, making her seem like a constantly shifting galaxy of gold. His eyes wander to her other half, the companion she shared a bond with. His smile grows from a seed to a sprout as he lays his eyes on the orange beak of the long legged bird. "What type of bird would one call that?" He wonders, moss eyes watching with a look of awe.

Silence slips between the Chieftess and the Warrior, so Locket finds an opportunity to announce his quest, looking at the mare before his kissers open yet again. "I was given a quest from Father Earth, so I'm looking for a brown bear, a bird and a silver dragon." Glancing back at the Opulent's companion her motions to the bird with his muzzle, his stream of words flowing ever onward. "I think I found myself the bird." Locket snickers, flicking his tail to keep some afternoon flies from trying to take a ride around the Foothills. His ears flickered forward as he waited for a response from the golden girl.

 LAKOTA</style>
my heart is a hollow place for the devil to dance again</style>

They run.

It is early morn, the earth is dewy with newness, and the light is shining over the hills in welcome. The pair of them are training their stamina, and though Aodaun is far beyond his bonded in that area due to his species, he refuses to leave her side unless ordered away on a mission. After the sprint to Thistle Meadow, Lakota had immediately started a new regiment that would keep her fit. Her Morgan breed gifted her a large abundance of stamina, as well as her Walker heritage, but speed was only gifted on one side of her lineage. Nothing was going to keep her down, even if it meant training during the hours she normally slept. Lakota often took the night patrols, mostly because she though it was where she belonged, encompassed by the night and shadows where nobody could judge her. She cared little for their thoughts, but everyone had their weaknesses, and it was clear to her that she had foolishly believed her herd actually knew or cared for her.

So when she came upon the bright forms of two of her kin, she was pleasantly out of breath and shining healthily from her run. Slowing, she smoothed her face visibly into an impassive mask, and flicked her tail, all sass and indifference. "Phaedra, Locket," she greeted smoothly, fully intending to walk right past them. Just as she was breezing past, Aodaun gave a low growl, and she flipped her mane and stared him down. In her head he quarreled with her, his concern for her lack of true friends demanding he tell her to stay and attempt conversation. Lakota growled beneath her breath, but only turned when Aodaun physically pushed himself into her forelegs to turn her. Head high she gazed at them, not wanting the betrayal in her eyes to be shown to Phaedra. Did the sun-gold brat even remember her? Or had all that disappeared with the fame and glory that had inflated her already massive ego?

Huffing softly her eyes fell upon Locket. "Long time no see, Locket. The borders have been empty without your presence." Pointedly focusing on him instead of the sickening way Phaedra was looking at him- something she would never not find disgusting, merely because of her own morals, and thoughts she did not want to reveal- she cocked a hip and rolled her eyes when Aodaun growled unhappily over her attitude. She said she would stay and converse, she had never promised she would be nice.

There was too much hurt inside of her concerning these two, particularly Phaedra, for her to comfortably remain there for long.

"I'm fine sugar- Phaedra responded, and then, hearing his follow up question, brightly laughed. "We're fine." Stella trilled happily, holding up what appeared to be a rather large snake. The bird consisted of three colours: white (wings and body) black (legs) and brilliant orangey-yellow (face). She was a beautiful creature, but by the strength of the grip and the length of the talons that held onto the snake, it was clear that she wasn't just a pretty face. The Earth God had chosen well, in gifting her to Phaedra. "Stella is a secretary bird." She concluded with a smile.

As the warrior admitted that he too was on a conquest, Phaedra smiled and nodding knowingly. Long, long ago, when she had first arrived in Helovia, she had been given a similar task....although hers did not involve finding companions. Instead, it involved finding love in others. For a moment, her mind drifted back to those carefree days, of Levi and Sohalia...Sighing happily, she refocused her attention on the oddly patterned warrior. "Sounds like he had the Grey in mind, when we were the Grey. That sounds like Stella, Eytan, and Tinek."

Before she could say more, a white mass and a blue mare appeared. Joy filled Stella's breast at the sign of one of her oldest friends; though as that joy bubbled up it was displaced somewhat by a rather unsettling thought. Phaedra couldn't remember the last time she and Lakota had spoken. She had been there when the girls had been born and then after that...? Had it really been all herd meetings and Invasions? Did Lakota even know that she, the skinny and glittering spy, had been sent to fight at the Edge? She was sure if the darker mare heard the news, it would have sent her into a fit of laughter.

But something wasn't ... right. Lakota had always disapproved of her flirtatious ways - surely moreso now that her coat perpetually glittered and she was now a Chieftess, but it was always in an almost materialistic, sisterly way. Now she seemed cold, but intentionally so. Swallowing the lump of pride and hurt that had begun to form in her throat, Phaedra tossed her creamy mane slightly, so that it fell in cascading ripples down to her shoulders. "Pity you didn't also need a white bear, sugar." Phaedra chuckled, trying not to let her unease permeate through her voice.

Stella, feeling this tension as well as the same desires as Aodaun, tried to forcefully mend the gap. Picking up her snake, Stella flew-hopped her way to the polar bear, trilling slightly. Communication between species as different as they was impossible, but Stella wasn't concerned. She could surely flit out of the reach of his paws, if things went south. Landing hesitantly next to him, she chirped again, before taking her razor-sharp claws to the snake, and cutting it clean in half. Cheep? She inquired, picking up half of the snake and extending it to the polar bear with a long and thin black limb.
