Epona
~No wealth, no ruin, no silver, no gold
Nothing satisfies me but your soul~

The mare’s nimble legs stretch out long before her, carrying the beast across the golden sands of this land. Sharp hooves dig deep into the thick ground, sending spatters of the sand with each trotting step. Her mood was more light and airy than on most days. Things seemed to be catering to her now, instead of beating her emotions down to a pulp as the world usually did. The mare had been welcomed into a herd, she had a family. Though she would never admit that she called them this. She didn’t even really know the occupants of the land, and yet she rejoiced in them; she longed to meet each and every member. To know them, no matter how different from herself they were. This was not the usual mare. She preferred to be alone. She hated everyone. She wished for solitude and nothing else. She lusted after the blood and meat of any equine that she came into contact with, she did not wish to spend quality time with them. What has happened to you, what have you become? The voices spit out the words to Epona, their disproval in the mare’s change of attitude apparent. But the creature could not care less about what they had to say, those damned voices could not bring down her mood, she refused to let them. With a wild toss of her elegant head the beast took off at full throttle, leaving the voices behind her in the rush of the wind.

Golden sand billows out behind the mare, sparkling as it catches the rays of the sun. The mare’s thick banners weave out behind her, twirling happily in the blue sky. The sky was remarkably clear, only a few white and puffy clouds dared to break apart the heavens. The sun was a deep copper color, making everything shimmer as if by magic. The gulls that raced above Epona called out to her, challenging the mare to races that she could never win; yet she accepts the flying creatures dares with the happiest of laughter. The creature closed her ice eyes for a moment and imagines that everything was gone, all that was there was her and the wind and the warm sand under her hooves. It was a beautiful peace, one that the mare rarely was allowed to feel and so she cherished it for many moments. When her icy gaze opened the mare twirled her ears about her head, caught up in the sound of the ocean. It sang a siren song to the beast, calling her towards its deep blue depths. The mare was never one to deny the calling of nature and so she turned her course, though her pace did not falter. Epona ran full force into the lapping waves, water ricocheting from her bodice melodramatically. The mare continued her pace until she was mid leg length into the salty liquid. Once there the beast slid to a stop, her form growing so still that she resembled a statue; as if dark color had grown up from the water in the form of a unicorn. Her gaze once more closed, everything was gone but the sweet melody of surging ocean and the cool touch of its watery fingers. But the stillness settled the mare and threatened to make her think, something that Epona would not allow on such a day; it would only ruin her mood. So with a thick lurch the creature set out in a wild dance along the waves. She pounced, and spun, and shimmied, and danced along the thick pull of the waves. Surely she would look wild to any passing equine, but she did not mind this. She was.

Though the equine was quite enjoying herself she could not continue her energized movements, her muscles beginning to grow tired and taunt from fighting the hands of the waves. And so the creature quietly removed herself from the pulsing water, journeying back to the warm sand. Once the beast was a fair distance from the water she found a soft spot of sand and settled down. Long legs buckled underneath herself, the mare curling down in a laying position. The creature kept her head in a high, proud, position; ice eyes surveying the horizon. Perhaps there would be an oncoming equine who could provide the girl with entertainment that would not force her to use her strength, something to keep her mind from traipsing into darkened thoughts as they always did when the mare had nothing to keep her mind occupied.

Huzzah!

Micha burst from the dark shelf. Her tiny hooves barreling through the soft, powdery sand. The land continued as far as the horizon, and the deduced that it even went further! A grin crossed her face as she flew. Sand sprayed from the back of her hooves as she raised her head, a loud whinny exploding from her body. Tempting the very blue sea to race her. She felt like nothing in the world could stop her now. She was faster than anything. Faster than the wind, the sea and the sand. A joyful slide puled her haunches below her as she slid to a stop. The gently, cool breeze cooled her hide. Sweat had begun to bead across her bay coat, making it appear almost as if it was black. She swayed a little, listening to the sounds of nature, as she heard something odd.

A little ways away, she could hear splashing. The splashing of someone who sounded like they enjoyed their days among the waves. She watched in amusement as she far-off figure suddenly stopped and perched themselves on the sand. In a quick, brisk trot Micha ended her race with the world near this mare. She was colored like the dark ocean itself, her body sprayed with the mist-caps of the water. A horn, another one of them uni-corns she was. It seemed almost like there were only uni-corns here. She was very pretty though. "Hi Miss!" She said, a tilt of her head as she jumped a little. "Does this ocean make you so happy and hyper too?" She asked with a smile and a playful snort. She felt like nothing could stop her right now. Well, metaphorically anyways.

"blah blah blah."
