It was a gray, early afternoon outside the glass walls of the World’s Edge. A slowly increasing breeze caressed the tree trunks and rustled through the grass. The air was hot and electric and smelled of rain. The area lay fairly quiet except for the low murmur of thunder far in the distance. A storm was brewing.

The young self-proclaimed prince by the name of Tamlin found himself daydreaming under the green crown of a big redwood tree. He shook his black head and returned from the future; the future where he was emperor over all of Helovia and the birdbrains and the nakes where either dead or enslaved. He smiled and his mismatched eyes glittered. There was nothing in this world he felt so passionate about other than this goal of his. He was determined to reach it or die trying.

Over the last few weeks Tamlin had been distracted though; distracted by the kindness of a winged stallion named Miykael and also by his longing after his family. He hadn’t seen his dam since he was a few months old and the last time he saw his father and sister his visit had been all too brief. Not to mention the ever so short time he had spent with Aviya (whom he also considered family).

As he stood there under the redwood tree he suddenly felt a bit blue and by some strange reason he really missed his sister. They hadn’t gotten too much quality time together, but despite Tamlin’s arrogance he had always sort of looked up to her.

The young stallion's face grew bitter as he thought of not being able to see his sister or the rest of his family for a very long time. If he was to stick to his plan he would be cut off from them for a year at least. Sighing he turned towards the glass wall; inspecting his distorted reflection of black and white. He had filled out nicely, but he was still growing - not so much in height but rather in muscles.

The prince sighed again and shook his body, he needed a let out; something to take his mind of his current situation. I wish Snö was here so we could spar.

The iron lady knew when a storm was approaching; she revelled in them, and followed them like a loyal dog. This afternoon was no different, and Nyx felt her fur bristle in anticipation as static electricity seared through the air, promising thunder. As wild and free as the wind, Nyx had immediately moved outside the glass perimeter of the World's Edge, seeking to meet the storm head-on without the protection of the unnatural border. She passed easily through the gap in the wall, having long since memorised where it was in relation to the landmarks around it, and the world before her blended into sharp focus now it was free from the glass distortion.

It did not take the girl long to realise she was not alone, and instantly grew tense - she had learnt many years ago not to trust strangers, especially those mooching around a herd's borders without entering. She approached the young stallion warily, noting that he was nearing manhood and thus had likely been recently chased from his herd, as Nyx's sons had been. She felt a stab of pity for him, and wondered if he felt lonely. Perhaps he was seeking companionship here? Or perhaps Nyx was not as perceptive as she liked to believe, and he was simply a rogue colt exploring the world around him. "hello there, little one. there's a storm coming - you should seek shelter." She knew others were not as fond of storms as she was, and could grow spooked by the eerie noises and flashes; Nyx did not want her conscience tarnished by the image of the boy getting disorientated and braining himself on the glass wall. Her body language was relaxed, yet her muscles were bunched and prepared for action should this youth show hostile intentions. She had heard the tales, and knew that the unicorns of Helovia held a bad reputation.

Her voice reached him, clear and crisp, through the still air; it sounded almost as if she was standing right next to him. The young stallion turned his head towards her and for a split second he thought it was his sister, but only for the briefest of moments though the mare had little in common with Snö. Apart from being a unicorn mare with blue eyes there were not much resemblance.

The self-proclaimed prince smiled anyway since he found it refreshing meeting one of his own kind for a change. ”I thank you kindly for the warning ma’am, but I am feeling rather blue today and the thrill of a storm would likely help me get my mind off of things.” Tamlin wouldn’t claim that he liked thunderstorms, but neither was he frightened of them. He enjoyed watching the power of nature; preferably from a warm dry spot. However he could not argue that to stand in the howling wind and the lashing rain while listening to the rumbling thunder was somewhat thrilling - if it didn’t happen too often.

Tamlin took a few steps closer to the mare, inspecting every inch of her. The young stallion was yet to discover lust and so his ogling had no other purpose than to assess how he could beat her in battle. Frostbite had taught him that depending on who he fought he might have to adjust his own technique. However it wasn’t long before Tamlin spoke again: ”I say, you look like a fighter, ma’am. May I ask if you care for a dance in this lovely weather that will momentarily be upon us?” A lopsided grin adorned his black lips and his eyes glittered with hope that she would want to test him. He didn’t show it, be he was sure he could beat her even blindfolded; however it should be pointed out the reality of things seldom match with the delusions of young stallions.

”No use in beating each other senseless, but neither should we hold back. So, what say you, ma’am?”Tamlin asked and took another step towards her. ”I am Tamlin, by the way.” he added with a slight bow of his head.

She allowed the faintest trace of a smile to enhance her features as he revealed he, too, sought the thrill of the storm. "aye, there's nothing quite like a storm to focus the mind." She lived for the savage beauty of nature's rage, chased it like a loyal minion and worshipped at its altar. Whenever she found herself feeling down, or morose, or simply felt the tug of boredom, she would stand in the thunder and let it bathe her. She had fought in it, too, and found it a fine way to hone one's skills, as it tested not only her resistance to her opponent's attacks, but her resistance to the difficult conditions. It sharpened the wits and honed the body, and the silver lady could scarcely wait to dance in it again.

When the young stallion suggested a spar, Nyx felt the thrill of the fight begin to course through her body. It had been months since she last crossed swords with another, and she did have aspirations of warriorhood. What better time to practice than now, with the storm approaching like a pack of starving carnivores? "it would be my pleasure. i'm nyx, of the world's edge." She, too, began to ready herself, her frigid gaze raking across the youth's frame, devouring every inch as she hunted for size differences, weaknesses, injuries...anything that could turn the tide in her favour. Her mother had taught her - and by taught, she meant beat into her - that there was no such thing as honour in warfare. She knew to use anything to her advantage, and that meant hunting for any sign of weakness.

Her preliminary assessment complete, the iron woman took another cursory glance at the sky to ascertain how long before the storm would break above them, then returned her gaze to Tamlin. "your move," she said, offering a respecful dip of her head before she focused her mind and body, and waited.

Nyx - a strong name. Tamlin wondered what a mare of her caliber was doing living with the scum of the Qian. And how dare they even call themselves “of the Edge”?! The unicorns who were now casted out in the cold were the rightful inhabitants of this area - not some hornless and winged freaks. And Mauja should be the ruler - not a hypocritical dragon bitch who stole the land from a whole people and called it “a fight for peace”. Oh how he hated them all! He would reveal them to Nyx, he decided, someday he would tell her what beasts they were and maybe he could sway her to his cause.

The young stallion felt his blood run hot. He was getting worked up by his hatred and his will to fight the mare increased. That could prove either helpful or devastating to his chances of winning. Getting a bit fired up was good though and so he just had to watch it so that he didn’t get to upset over the wrongs done to him and his herd in the past.

Thunder rolled; closer now and the black and white prince turned his head away from Nyx. He looked quite relaxed and then he said: ”Well then we might as well… START!” By his last word a flash of lightning zigzagged over the gray sky at the horizon and the young stallion caprioled forwards towards the iron lady. His ears hid in his big frosted mane and his white tail lashed behind him like a silver whip.

It was always tricky to make the first move in a fight; if one attacked head on front hooves and dull teeth would most certainly hinder ones rampage and to feign first in one direction and then to the other gave the opponent time to collect themselves. So Tamlin chose to do something in-between; he aimed not straight for her but rather to his right; towards her left side. And since they were standing quite close to one another the capriole took him straight to the place where he wanted to be - right beside her.

Letting no time pass he arched his thick neck around her beautifully curved hind and curled his black lips over his, still rather white, teeth. His intention was to grab the soft flesh above her left haunch and keep it in a firm grip. He swung his own hind away from her and if he held fast she would have trouble not only kicking him with her hind hooves but also reaching him with her teeth. However, her legs were slender and long and Tamlin’s neck wasn’t so she could probably reach him even though it wouldn’t be effortless.

Rain started falling and it felt like a thick cover was spread out over the world; it became so quiet and tranquil as the rain fell straight and soft. But it lasted only for a moment because soon the rain increased and the drums of thunder shook the ground.

His mood seemed to change the moment she told him where she was from, and her blood ran cold in her veins. She knew nothing of the Qian, save for their name, which Lace had mentioned in passing. She knew nothing of their crimes, either, only what she had been told - that they were a herd of mixed origin, who had grown wary of unicorns due to a recent invasion. Either way, she forced those thoughts aside and mentally prepared herself, running her gaze across him once more. There was barely any difference between their heights or builds, and the only advantage Nyx could possibly think of was that she was older, and thus more experienced - had he ever fought before? Had he ever felt flesh bruise beneath his hooves, skin peel beneath his horn? If he hadn't, then the iron lady would certainly have something of the upper hand, as she knew as well as any how shocking it was the first time you harmed another living creature. Perhaps he would be paralyzed, whilst she soldiered on, oblivious to any pain she may cause him.

Or perhaps that was just wishful thinking, and his delicate age belied the hardened warrior beneath.

There was no time to dwell; the storm hissed overhead, and Tamlin made his move. He came for her left side, his gluttonous teeth snapping towards her left haunch, and the mare had little time to do anything but pivot her hindquarters to the right. She was assisted by the ground, which was already growing slippy beneath the sudden downpour of rain - it likely hadn't rained in quite some time, and the parched ground was unable to absorb the torrent, creating a slick coating of mud above the hardened soil. This helped her hooves slide, but she could not avoid his attack completely. His teeth nipped hard at the flesh and muscle of her haunch, causing a bruise to blossom swiftly beneath her skin, however her movement to her right had lessened the damage and hopefully prevented a grip. It still bloody well hurt, though, and her ears pinned to her head as a yelp of disgust fled her jaws. She continued to swing her hindquarters to the right, whilst at the same time her forequarters moved to her left, hoping to bring her powerful frame in a semicircle to face Tamlin's left shoulder in a T-shape. She knew to try and prevent her foe having access to her sides, especially her flanks, where her teeth couldn't reach and her hooves couldn't easily kick - if she could keep her front half near his own kicky and bitey bits, she would be in with a chance.

The storm screamed above them, invigorating the mare as rain began to flow in rivulets off her pelt. This was marginally inconvenient, as it would mean bites would slip off slathered flesh far faster than in dry weather, but she did not let that deter her. There wasn't enough room between them for her to bring her horn down and attack with it, and so she was condemned to using her teeth, just as he had. Her skull snaked forwards and down, attempting to lay a sharp nip on the meat of his left shoulder - she knew her blunt teeth were unlikely to draw blood, but she certainly wouldn't object to a lovely big bruise, to match the one he'd given her. She was quite a vengeful girl, and didn't take kindly to being bitten on her frankly magnificent backside. Simultaneously her weight surged forwards, leading with her chest; she sought to slam it into his left shoulder or the top of his left foreleg, just below where her teeth were aiming for. Her aim was to disrupt his balance by pushing herself forwards from her powerful hindquarters, hoping to make his feet slip on the slick ground as hers were. She doubted she would be able to knock him over - she didn't have enough of a weight advantage - but hoped she may be able to make him stumble. Her blue eyes flashed with macabre delight, the lightning making her silver fur glisten; what more could she want from life than to be duelling beneath her favourite element?

The arrogant brat was surprised that his attack had failed not played out the way he wanted, but he rejoiced in the fact that a few white hairs had stuck between his teeth and the sound Nyx made when his teeth slid off of her created a smile on his black lips. ”You are quick Lady Nyx, I’ll give you that!” he laughed to over the rumble of the thunder.

As both he and Nyx swung their hinds away from each other Tamlin collected his thoughts and revamped his battle plan. It was true that he didn’t have any real fighting experience. He had never felt his horn pierce though the flesh of another or heard bone break under his hooves. He was much younger than the iron lady and his few years of living hadn’t exactly make him wise. However he had been sparring twice a day for many moons and his mentor, Frostbite, had been rather though on him. But the only real advantage he had in this fight was that he was young and reckless and might try things that Nyx wasn’t expecting. The element of surprise was his only ally, but of course the hot headed little steed wouldn’t admit that even to himself.

He was pleased when Nyx chose to try and ram him; it worked perfectly with his new plan. Almost at the same time as her he surged forwards. Pushing against the ground with his hind legs he met her halfway in her ram. The clash of their wet chests resulted in a flopping sound and it hurt Tamlin all the way down in his ribcage. He also ran straight into her bite which created a small gash where the skin was pinched between the bone beneath and Nyx’s teeth. A small crimson trickle ran down the point of his shoulder, but the heavy rain soon washed it away. Tamlin didn’t even feel the sting as his skin broke; he was too concentrated on his bruised chest and the next step of his attack.

Letting only a fraction of a second passing the stallion put more of his weight back on his hind legs. Since he was a little shorter than Nyx and of a slightly more sturdy type his chest were located just a little bit lower and as he reared up he tried to force her up with him, because then she wouldn’t be able to jab him with her horn.

He didn’t have much experience using his own horn since Frostbite was an equine and thus didn’t know very much on the subject. He had however learnt a lot about how to go about avoiding horns. He didn’t really plan on fighting a lot of unicorns, but there would always be a few traitors. Like Delinne… Anger washed over him as the image of her lightning marked body appeared in his mind. But he forced the picture away and returned to the present.

As he raised his front up from the, now slippery, ground, his mane whipping in the increasing wind and tail waving like a flag, he aimed for Nyx’s crest. He had not managed to hold on to the backside of her white thigh, but maybe he would be luckier this time?

If she reared with him he would have trouble reaching her crest, but then his hooves would have easy excess to both her shoulders and sides since he was somewhat broader than she. If she backed up however Tamlin’s momentum would cause him to fall over her and then it would be easier for him to grab a hold behind her ears. If he were extra lucky maybe his right leg would even hook around her withers.

She managed a good-natured chortle at his words, but was too preoccupied to respond. He rammed towards her, and Nyx was momentarily startled, given that she had been facing his left shoulder so to feel his chest connecting instead was a queer surprise, but she did not back down - her hind hooves slipped and slid in the mud as she desperately sought purchase to try and push against him, standing her ground. The muscles of her chest clenched at the impact and she bit back a grunt, knowing she would likely have an impressive bruise in the days to come. Her teeth found flesh and she swiftly withdrew them, her entire body hauling a single step backwards in her effort to ease the pain of her chest.

This movement proved fortunate, as the boy reared and had she been in the same position she likely would have been forced up with him - as it was, she was simply granted a haunting image of his hooves and teeth glistening against the backdrop of lightning, moments before she felt him bite sharply between her ears. Thankfully the bite was somewhat padded by her thick mane and forelock, strips of which were pulled free and again she had to bite back a pained shriek. The flesh just beneath her mane was grazed but, given the blunt nature of equine teeth, no blood was drawn. With considerable effort the iron lady dragged her weight another step backwards to try and create a small distance between their bodies, legs spread to try and balance on the objectionable surface beneath them. His right hoof - which had just managed to clip her left wither, creating another small bruise - would hopefully slip free from her rainsoaked body as she momentarily withdrew, chest heaving from the exertion and the difficulty of breathing after the sharp impact with him. Using this space, the girl would lower her head in the hope of brandishing her sword towards him - she was thankful it wasn't as long as some horns, as it meant she could use it more in tight battles like this. With all the strength she could muster, Nyx threw herself forwards, leading with her lethal length of obsidian bone.

She had no wish to actually maim or kill the boy - she had pierced hearts before, and the pain of taking a life was one she would never forget. True warriors like her parents could slaughter hundreds without batting an eye, but Nyx wasn't made of such stern stuff. She had a sense of empathy, something she'd struggled with for a lot of her life, especially when her mother had spent so long trying to beat it out of her. She had a conscience, and perhaps that was a weakness, but she would not irreversibly damage Tamlin on purpose. Therefore, she angled her skull slightly to her left and aimed for the right side of his chest, well away from his heart and vital organs. She assumed he would have returned to all fours by now - her movement backwards and lunge forwards had not been instantaneous and thus he would have had time to lower from his rear if he chose - and so her head was held quite low. She sought to sink the lethal tip of her horn into the right side of his chest, hoping to gouge muscle and cause considerable pain. Not fatal pain, of course, but hopefully enough to give the silver woman the victory.

Simultaneously her right foreleg lifted, flicked forwards and stomped sharply down. She hoped to rasp her hoof down his left foreleg from knee to fetlock in the hope of damaging the skin and perhaps even trapping his own hoof beneath her own. She hoped he would be distracted by her horn assault and would thus miss what her leg was doing - she had found from past experience that a bombardment of attacks could work out very well, as it forced an opponent to multitask and that was difficult in such heated situations. Her heart pounded and tail lashed behind her, mane slicked to her neck with the force of the storm above. It was a beautiful sight, two unicorns locked in combat with nature exploding above them; they moved like ballet dancers, but were as dangerous as circling sharks.

Thunder roared above, lightning flashed around them and rain drenched their bodies as they wrestled on in the mud. Sure footing was hard to find and the rain was still increasing - along with the wind. Despite the weather however the young stallion smiled broadly, he was pleased with the surprise he had caused the iron lady. It was obvious that she hadn’t expected him to be so quick to interfere with her attack and, truth be told, he was surprised of his speed as well; but he would never say so. That he had even been able to rearrange his body to meet her head on with so little distance between them was probably pure luck. Though both his luck and joy would prove to be short lived… What happened next would really show Nyx’s battle experience or maybe Tamlin’s inexperience.

With the reflexes of a true warrior the gray mare backed away from him as he reared and he lost his grip on her crest; the only souvenir being a few additional hairs in his teeth - this time black ones. By creating space between them Nyx had deprived Tamlin’s body of the support he had planned on and since he hadn’t put enough weight back on his hind legs he could not keep his forequarters up; he fell down on the ground. The impact shocked his left leg and also the sore muscles in his chest. His right leg slid of the mare’s sleek back without hooking around her withers and his hooves hit the ground with plopping sounds; one after the other. A small cascade of mud splashed up on his legs and in the same moment a gust of wind assaulted his face with icy rain. His full mane stood out from his neck like a banner and with the rain in his mismatched eyes the young stallion couldn’t see much.

Even without being blinded it was doubtful that he had been able to collect himself before Nyx came towards him. He was a little dumbstruck and much angry with himself for messing up the fight plan and he stood frozen for a second; one second too much it would prove.

She looked like a blur to Tamlin when she charged with her horn pointing towards the right side of his chest. A flinch saved the young stallion from needing a heeler after the spar, but he wasn’t focused enough to lean away so much that she didn’t hit. Her onyx horn tore open his skin at the point of his shoulder and a sharp pain immediately entered Tamlin’s mind. It felt almost burning. At the same time he felt a duller pain as something scraped down his left leg; it was only when he tried to shy away from the pain that he realized that Nyx had trapped his hoof under hers. Fuck!

Roaring with pain and anger (he wasn’t very happy that he was being made a fool by this mare) he flung his head forwards towards her right side. Skin was usually loose right over the ribs and if he could grab her there it would probably cause her some pain. He wanted to move his right leg and knee her on her muzzle (if her head was still low) or at the upper part of her left leg, but the pain of his fresh wound was too great. It resulted only in an awkward half-stomp and a grunt of discomfort. However he was lucky that the ground was so slippery, because only a moment after he’d lifted his right leg, he could feel his left hoof slipping away from underneath Nyx’s. Hoping that he still had time to kick her before she would react to his bite, he lifted his left leg. He moved it circularly meaning to hook it around her right foreleg and disturb her balance.

In the heat of the moment he hadn’t realized how much pain it would have caused him if he hadn’t flinched just in the right second, but as his teeth searched to grab a hold on Nyx’s soft hide the seriousness occurred to him. It could have gone real bad! What a bitch! he thought and clenched his teeth together hoping to pinch white skin hard enough to make it crimson.

The storm raged, and Nyx could feel the air crackling with static. Her fur stood on end, like she was a wolf with her hackles raised; the electricity seemed to invigorate her, power her through the dying stages of the fight despite her growing tiredness. She was a healthy mare in her prime, but keeping balanced on the slippery ground and keeping up with the agile young colt took a lot of effort, not to mention the pain of her bruises. She blinked raindrops out of her eyes, and readied herself for the final assault.

Her horn gored into him, but she was swift to flex her neck and withdraw, not wanting to cause more harm than necessary. She knew the honed tip of her obsidian spear could cause severe injury and she still had no desire to see him fall with her blade embedded in his arteries. He seemed angry, likely shocked by the brutality of her last attack - Nyx herself was almost ashamed for attempting something that could have caused terrible pain, but she had been raised to never pull her punches. Be it a spar or a fight to the death, she tried to go about it the same way, but her innate softness ensured she would never go so far as to try and kill Tamlin. Her hoof also found its target but the silver woman quickly removed it, feeling unsteady with his hoof trapped beneath her own - she needed to keep as many feet on the ground as possible to avoid tumbling should he try to ram her. She dragged herself a step backwards just as he lunged forwards to bite her, causing his teeth to hit the top of her right foreleg rather than the ribcage nearby. It was painful, and the mare winced as another bruise appeared - fortunately the flesh there was muscled and tight, and thus his teeth didn't do as much damage as they would have if they had struck where he intended.

She was so focused on her pain that she didn't see his right foreleg lift, knocking into the top of her left - it didn't particularly hurt, but it took her by surprise. As she hesitated, his left foreleg circled, hooking behind her right limb and yoinking it upwards. With an almost doglike yelp, the steel soldier stumbled, hooves skidding as she fought to keep herself balanced. Ooh, sneaky, she thought with a sardonic smirk. Nyx sidestepped to her left and shot forwards, seeking to end up parallel to Tamlin facing in opposide directions, right side to right side. With his delightfully tempting rump now in her eyeline, Nyx snaked her jaws to the right in an attempt to sharply nip him on his right flank, in the same place as he had bitten her earlier. Call it revenge or petty-minded vengeance, but the silver woman rather liked the symmetry of them both having matching wounds. Simultaneous to her bite attack, she threw her weight to her forequarters and swung her hindquarters to the right, hoping to crash her right flank into his right shoulder. Like most horses, she possessed a particularly round and muscular back half, and hoped that an impact of her rump against his shoulder would unbalance him. She also hoped that she would be able to push his front half away from her rear to prevent him being able to use his teeth on her butt again, because damn, that stung. There wasn't enough space between them for her to use her hooves, nor did she trust herself to remain balanced if she lifted one or more to kick with; she'd have to settle for quite literally trying to ass him over.

Her rain-soaked pelt shone in the lightning, rivulets of moisture pouring down her body and accentuating every contour. Her chest heaved, throbbing from its earlier impact with Tamlin and causing her breath to come in heavy gasps - it would be a while before her bruised muscles unclenched and allowed her to stop feeling winded. But despite the pain she felt more alive than she had felt in weeks, months - there was something about the thrill of battle that set the grey dove's blood afire. The storm crashing above them only fuelled her desire to lock horns and hooves with the foe beside her, and she had to remind herself that there was nothing at stake - it was but a spar, and if she lost then it would be only her pride that hurt. As fun as this was, it did not quench her thirst for a battle with meaning; it solidified her desire to become a soldier for the Edge, and defend them with everything she had.

The self-proclaimed prince was still angry because of the blood that trickled down the right side of his chest. Mostly it was because he himself didn’t know how to use his horn properly and he was jealous of the iron lady, but the wound also hurt and pain was a natural foundation for anger. He was young and ambitious and he didn’t take loosing very well; which he feared would be the case in this rain dance.

As his teeth slid of her without causing the damage he wanted he pinned his ears tighter to his skull and withdrew his head from her. He rolled his eyes and their whites lit up in the light of a lightning bolt hitting a tree a few hundred yards away. The flash startled Tamlin and caused him to pull his left leg even harder towards himself.

Nyx stumbled, but Tamlin was too shaken to notice. His body had tensed up and for a moment he forgot what he was doing. However he was reminded sharply as teeth sank into the skin on his flank. With a nigh combined with a snort he returned to the fight and surged his head towards the ground to send his black hind legs flying. His white spotted rump became airborne and his wet tail whipped, sending water and mud into the air. He felt her dull teeth pull and stretch his skin for a fraction of a second. It hurt, but not as much as the gash on the point of his shoulder.

To buck had been the wrong choice though, because before his hind hooves returned to the slippery ground Nyx’s rump crashed into his forequarters and toppled him over. With a splash he hit the slippery ground and almost did a full roll around. Mud and water soaked his body and in the light of the flashing lightning and the, now burning, tree some distance away surprise was easily detected in the young stallion’s face.

Before Tamlin was even fully aware of what had happened, he was standing again. In a reflex his strong legs had pushed his black and white body of the ground and there he stood now; flanks heaving, coat dripping of muddy water, bruises and cuts aching and stinging and slight confusion showing in his mismatched eyes. Had he lost?

ooc: Sorry for the wait, the thread was locked for a while :) We should definitely do this again when Tamlin has more experience, than maybe he has a shot haha.

By my verdict NYX is the winner.
Nyx receives 1 VP.

TAMLIN -- post 1 (attack only)

[Realism]
- 2| Powerplay: Letting no time pass he arched his thick neck around her beautifully curved hind and curled his black lips over his, still rather white, teeth. This is too declarative. You cannot dictate that you're doing this, as it assumes your opponent is standing still and allowing it. You can only say that this is what you're attempting to do.

TAMLIN -- post 2

[Realism]
- 1| Injury: You wrote: He also ran straight into her bite which created a small gash where the skin was pinched between the bone beneath and Nyx’s teeth. When Nyx wrote this, it was under the assumption you were perpendicular. But now you're saying you ran 'straight into her' - so where is the bite landing? Is it on his face now? The top of his neck? You mention after that it's on his shoulder, but that doesn't make sense, as you've already indicated that he swung his hind quarters around as well.
0| Attack: Rearing into Nyx - you say it's meant to 'force her up with him' but I don't understand how that could be, unless he was under her somehow.
0| Attack: Is he attacking with his hooves, or biting? I can't tell, and you don't say. Also did you forget she has a horn? Attacking her pole seems very dangerous..

[Prose]
+ 1| Emotion.
0| Flow: The arrogant brat was surprised that his attack had failed not played out the way he wanted - sentences with poor grammar like this were confusing in this post, and really threw things off for me.

NYX -- post 2

[Realism]
+ 1| Injury: Having Tamlin shove into her shove.
+ 1| Defense: Is far enough back, so as not to be effected by Tamlin's rear.
+ 1| Injury: Bite between the ears.
+ 1| Injury: Having his hoof clip her shoulder
+ 1| Attack: Horn attack towards his shoulder.
+ 1| Attack: Tries to stomp on his left leg/hoof (lol).

TAMLIN -- post 3

[Realism]
+ 1| Injury: Nyx's horn attack.
+ 1| Injury: Nyx's kick to his left leg.
0| Attack: Is this him biting her? he flung his head forwards towards her right side. Skin was usually loose right over the ribs and if he could grab her there it would probably cause her some pain. ? Also, if they're face to face, I doubt that he could reach all the way to her ribs. Shoulder is much more likely.
0| Attack: Again, do you mean to try and kick her here: He wanted to move his right leg and knee her on her muzzle (if her head was still low) or at the upper part of her left leg, but the pain of his fresh wound was too great. It resulted only in an awkward half-stomp and a grunt of discomfort. It reads to me as a description of him flailing around, but not succeeding in attacking at all.
+ 1| Attack: Kicking out with his front left leg - trying to hook Nyx.

NXY -- post 3

[Realism]
+ 1| Injury: Tamlin's bite.
+ 1| Injury: Unbalanced by Tamlin's reach-around with his leg.
+ 1| Attack: Bite to his right flank.
+ 1| Attack: Swinging her hindquarters into his shoulder.

[Prose]
+ 1| Emotion: Hahahahaha. she'd have to settle for quite literally trying to ass him over..

TAMLIN -- post 4 (defense only)

[Realism]
+ 1| Injury: Nyx's bite.
- 1| Attack:This is a closing defense. You are not allowed to attack: surged his head towards the ground to send his black hind legs flying. His white spotted rump became airborne and his wet tail whipped, sending water and mud into the air.
+ 1| Injury: Falling to the ground after Nyx shoved him.

Comments: Wow! I was really impressed! This was really great to read - your posts were clear, and I could always tell where and what Nyx was going. Great job reacting to the environment, and writing accordingly. Wonderful!

Comments: Slow down! Your posts were a little short and choppy at times. There were also spelling and grammar mistakes that made things harder to get through. Your biggest area of opportunity is going to be when you're describing your attacks - for the majority of the time, I couldn't tell if you were attacking, and what/where you were attacking with. Be as explicit as you can! Great job!
