"Shall we simply say that my latest challenge went a bit south?"

A frown creased the icy princess' mouth at her mother's answer and she began to wonder who it was that had challenged her mother. Had the battle been won at the cost of her most prized possession or had she lost her horn along with the challenge? Had the challenger been someone in the ranks of the Plague or had it been someone else entirely? Question upon question whirled through the girl's mind, but she remained silent and watchful as her mother voiced her own question.

What was on her tail?

"Lets just say that my latest adventure went a bit south." She voiced her answer. Would Psyche notice that the varnished girl's side was oddly devoid of the mechanical wolf that had been with her since she had been a foal? If she did notice would she put two and two together and realize that something had taken the wolf from her and that her daughter was more than likely plotting her own revenge while she traipsed through the ice water? Part of her scoffed at the idea that the mare would notice anything different and another part, the part that called Psyche 'mom' hoped that she would notice and that it would matter.

Her ears swiveled in the direction a growl emanated and as she turned her head to look a black form sailed through the air and landed between her and her mother. Snö's nostrils flared as she sucked in a breath and recognition shone in her eyes. There was no way she would ever forget the scent of the beast her father had called Monster. Tail twitched and she remained still as stone as she stared down the dog as it made its way menacingly toward her.

"Thais." The young mare spoke the name she had given the dog firmly. When it became clear that the dog seemed hellbent on attacking Snö spun her body around so her hind in was facing toward the dog, forelegs braced to accept her weight as she hefted her hind end into the air and struck out at Monster with her cloven hooves.

Maybe she was wrong about it being Thais. Maybe her desire to see him again was making everything canine look and smell like him.
