As her daughter and Mauja restrained the stupid mutt, the shadow-mare was left to contemplate the position in which she found herself. Mauja had ignored her. Hadn't even looked her direction. A frown appeared on her maw, for she felt that she deserved some recognition - after all, they had been doing so well before he up and disappeared. Again. Well, she supposed it was payback, of a sort. Once upon a time, she might have had a future with the Ice King. They might have ruled a unicorn empire with their lovely little princess and lead lovely little lives that were horribly predictable and wonderfully boring - but now? Now, apparently, they were destined always to leave one another behind. Lovers or no, she didn't particularly appreciate being ignored. Not when she had worried about him. Not when she had missed him. He was the only one that understood her. Lately, she had begun to wonder if he understood her better than she understood herself. Even if she didn't want their perfect, boring, racist life, she still wanted a friend. And he had turned out, on more than one occasion, to be the only one she could count on. She slid her gaze from her former mate to her daughter, who stood haughtily with her eyes on the dog. Whatever existed between Snö and the mutt didn't matter to her - what did matter was that she did not trust anything that had lunged for the girl's throat. She opened her mouth to protest and shut it again, her lips twisting unhappily. She doubted that Snö would thank her for interfering, and for some reason she didn't want the fae running off again. She sighed quietly, far enough from the two that it was unlikely they would hear her. Suddenly, watching them, the shade felt horribly out of place. Sadness flooded her amber orbs, and she swallowed down the bitter regret that rose like bile in her throat. Maybe they didn't want her around. Maybe her gut instinct - to run away again - had been right. Maybe she should just leave. But she stayed, all the same. @[Mauja] [OOC | Sorry for the wait!] [W/C | ---] |
