have you seen that girl?

She walks with a slow, fragile gait, feeling she has finally escaped the fear, the hungry beast that tries so hard to devour her. A gentle click is the only sound she hears as she walks through the quiet, empty forest. Such a dimly lit time of night, the moon is anew, freshly pressed to the dark fabric hung above head. Her clear auds flicker back and forth, the noise absent in this night in which the spirit wanders. A cold feeling is constantly enveloping her body, eating away at her limbs. The only warmth she holds is the small, beating heart laid beneath a layer of thick glass, tucked away from the world.

She closes her eyes, inhaling. There was no point really, she needed no air, no feed, no liquids to keep her moist. She was left with no vital organs, only her heart, the only thing she was allowed to keep. A gentle shiver runs down her back as a cold, icy breeze touches her glass skin. Somehow she was allowed to still feel the warmth of the sun and cooling of nights, yet she was not able to keep much else. The girl flicks her tail, its bubbly, misty form shimmering as individual strands of glass flicker through Mother Moon's bright light.

She feels the rose behind her ear shift as she cranes her neck to look into the eyes of the Moon, reminding her so suddenly of her daughter, the child of hers, the traitor she gave birth to, the one she conceived with a betrayer. Her translucent lobes flick back, her brows narrowed as the girls face shimmers through her mind. A figment of her mind, yet so real, her pale child appears before her eyes, a snotty, sassy smile gifted upon her lips. A sudden urge to lunge at the misty figure streams through her glass frame, yet she holds back her anger, instead taking it out passively as she stands face to face. "You bloody little thing, don't you show your face to me." But instead she is met with nothing, a blank space, an absent swirling space with misty white dew. She wants to run now, run away from this land just as she has all the rest of her life. But she thought this was a safe haven, hoped it was a safe haven, a place where she could be rid of her past and charge forth into her future.

The black knight was really starting to think he spent way too much time here in the Threshold of Helovia. Perhaps it was the excitement of meeting lost souls, or to just enjoy living on the edge where it’s unprotected. Don’t lie to yourself. The black stag thought, knowing why he was really looming in the shadows of these elder pine. How could he torture himself so? He knew damn well she would never come walking back into his life after all these years. He kept telling himself she’s gone. But fails to believe it, and had turned to thrive on companionship. Living alone in the dark, will drive a stallion mad. There are wants, urges and needs in ones life. The only question now is what to put first, in what order should he rebuild his lost life? But at his age, perhaps it just didn’t matter anymore.

I’ve really got to stop coming here. Nato thought to himself, as crimson pools gazed though the pine. Movements were smooth and calm as he made his way around the earthen path. Audits perked as his movements seized to the sound of a yelling voice. Intrigued, the stag took a change of direction, and moved between a few trees only to rest his gaze upon a rather strange looking Unicorn. He took a silent moment to observe her; her body seemed to glitter and reflect as if it was made of the Edge wall itself. And that glowing red in her crest. Nato stood perplexed for a moment. He’d never seen anything like this before; the way she dazzled in the faint rays of light. She seemed stunned, confused. The black beast was really curious to whom she was addressing; and took a good look around and found not a soul peeking in the darkness.

"You must have really scared them off." He teased as masculine tones rumbled from his throat as he pulled from the darkness. Iron spiral elevated to the branches in a relaxed position. You’re such a tease on the eyes. The demon confessed to himself as he pulled out of the shadows more so stepping closer to her, flicking ink stained lobes to face her. Her eyes were unlike anything he had ever looked into. He resisted the urge to reach out and touch her to see if she was actually a glass mare; or was she more like a jelly fish and would sting to the touch? Hmmph. Nato arched his neck and cleared his throat as he did a once over on the mare.

"I’ve never seen anything like… you before." He breathed through velvet lips as he stood still, obsidian pelt glittering with what little rays of light danced upon it. He shifted a hoof, and cracked his thick inky cords behind him in interest. "Might I know the name of the beauty that stands before me?" The stallion hissed through his teeth with a little bit of seduction. He didn’t have the intention of hurting her; but she didn’t know that. But to be honest, It was nice to actually come across a Unicorn here… he had seen far too many equine. Gazing to the moon for a faint moment, a smirk tugged on the corners of his lips. Perhaps, it was time for a game… and she would be his pawn. Then again, he was really getting to old for this. No I’m not.

A fest of snarling had certainly scared the maiden, the fact that she had jumped out like that, in a way most foreign to her. She expected to be alone, but her expectation was ever so wrong, making her jump, the heart beneath her breast suddenly twitching in a fierce manner. The glass girl simply turns her head, ears swiveling backwards as a stallion of the Night forms from the shadows, the gentlest white grazing his body, and the deepest red eyes gazing at her. The fight or flight response sends her into a panic, should she flee now, thinking she knew the stallion's intentions? She glances to the side, her escape route already planned within her mind. There is silence, something she loves, creeping between the two.

He said he had never seen one like her, as though she is some rare species. Taken aback by the words of the older male, the girl takes a step back, fearing he may try to seduce her. Her maw opens, but she does not speak, it as though someone has pressed the mute button, her words are silent. While she is gathering thought, he takes no time to ask yet another question, one with words that are filled with hints of a seductive tone. She swallows her fear and puts on a serious face, her delicately made features shifting. "Ayelet. My... my name is Ayelet." She murmurs, her words a gentle whisper against the wind. The name she speaks is one of the few things she was allowed to remember from her former body. But even then the name occasionally slips from her mind, shrouded in mist, just as the rest of her memories. The flash backs that torture her soul, the misty, dream-like memories that slip through her head, are caused by the God's wishes to give her some recollection of her past.

In Brother Night's radiance, her cold shell twinkles in the dark, almost as though she's invisible, barely seen unless looked at in the full of Mother Moon's light. Her accented eyes drift to the stars, the many spots shimmering in brilliance above her crown. She turns to the stallion then, her attention pushed towards him. "I suppose it is customary to ask for another's name in this land. So, Brother, what happens to be your alias?" Her tone is casual, unlike the seductive hues of the stag's voice, which the girl disliked in full. Ever since those flash blacks began plaguing her, she had been cautious to avoid all stallions. But all knew, that was near impossible. Studs jumped at any mare, hopeful of winning over their hearts with romantic word and flirtatious tones. Not her. She was different from the rest, having already learned stallions always play mare's for fools, and that almost all mares play along. Of course, until they land in a pit of doom with a constantly swelling stomach, left alone to defend her offspring. The girl's story had ended with a twist, however. It was not the father who came back to kill, it was the child, her own progeny, slaying her with Brother Night and Mother Moon as witnesses.

The stallion cocked his head to her jaw dropping reaction. A brow rose as she moved away, his smirk twisting more upon his lips. Don’t be afraid child. He thought to himself as he watched the glass maiden move about before him. She made him curious; wanting to know how exactly she was breathing- there was nothing but a bleeding red heart in her crystal chest. She spoke her name softly, and Nato repeated it to himself in his mind; making sure he noted it for later reference. Ayelet, it was strange on his tongue but he shrugged the fact and turned to face her. His crimson orbs meeting her windows gaze.

"I am Nato, it’s a pleasure to meet you Ayelet." He breathed softly, shifting his weight and looking around him, gazing through the shadow pine and then to the lady moon. "And you stand upon the Threshold of Helovia." A land where our kind is not so favored right now. He could have added, but decided to keep his mouth shut. She seemed so jumpy, and on edge there was probably a good chance if she had run into anyone equine she would have faced some real problems. Pulling forth, he eased closer to her; his muzzle reaching to her chest for a closer look at that beating heart. Although he did not touch her, he tried to breathe her in and he couldn’t smell anything. Audits of ink pinned against his skull as he blew a deep snort through his nostrils and turned away.

"What brings you here child? Is it shelter you are seeking, or perhaps a permanent place of residence?" He questioned her, curious if she would be interested in coming to the Edge. Dial shifting into the direction of home as lobes perked upon his crown as he stood and stared into the blackness. He listened, and breathed lightly keeping aware for any of those that might approach them with unwelcome intentions.

His head is cocked, a confused expression crossing over his face. Had he expected her to fall instantly to his arms? Was she just a play thing in his mind, something to be flirted with and use to create the next generation. She felt fear creep across her exposed heart as his twisted smirk expands. She was certainly not looking forward to further words from his lips, afraid he may try routes of seduction and flirtation. Would he try to slip beneath her glass skin, to leave her with another being growing from within? No, that wasn't possible anymore. It made her fairly sad, realizing now that she wouldn't be able to naturally have children, like she would actually want to have anymore children after the first child. A shiver runs down her back, her foggy glass eyelids sliding over her stained orbs.

He introduces himself as Nato, a name she repeats a few times to get it through her mind. Her name is spoken from his tongue, and she stops, her glass body gently quivering as she hears her name spoken from another's maw. He informs her that she stands in the Threshold of a land named Helovia. She replays this name through her head, trying to get used to the name. It was in no way like the land she hailed from, the name of her land lost, forgotten during the body transfer. She's lost in her silly little thoughts, but sure enough she pulls herself out to see the stallion stooping down to take a better look at her pulsing heart. He inhales deeply, as though expecting to get a scent from her body. She wasn't one to hold scents well, although from the rose she has tucked behind her auds, a smell of roses and blood follows her. It doesn't stick to her skin, but it sticks to the air around her. She steps back again, her tail brushing gently against a tree. She felt uneasy, being inspected so closely by a stallion she barely knew.

He wishes to know why she had entered this land, why she was standing here now. "I... it's a long story..." She murmurs, her lobes finding peace pressed against the back of her head. She can't even remember half of the reason she left her land in the first place. She did, but remembering it hurt her too much. He then asked if she was seeking shelter or a permanent place of residence. "I wouldn't call it a permanent place of residence, for does anyone really stay in the same place?" She looked at him, her gentle words echoing. The way she spoke was strange, she moved her mouth but it was not her nonexistent vocal chords that made her words, it was the soul bound to the fluent glass body that spoke. "Do you have a home to offer?" She asks, her voice near silent as she speaks shyly, the fear still looming above her head like a dark grey cloud, just waiting for it to begin to pour down upon her.

Normally the obsidian knight would take pride when another feared his presence. However, he was growing rather bored of seeing her radiate fear. Perhaps he had been too intrusive of her space however, but he couldn’t help it. She was so different than any other mare he had seen in his time. She held no unique scent, but she held a beating heart within her chest. Silently, he watched her as stepped away obviously nervous about his curiosity. She was but a child to compared to him, and even though the thought of lust had crossed his mind it had long passed now. He wasn’t a young cocky stallion anymore; he had learned to control his urges. Her body language was throwing all kinds of mixed signals, but there was one he clearly understood. She was afraid; and rightly so.

"Do not be afraid Ayelet." He murmured softly against the breeze. He was trying to put her mind at ease that no danger would be coming from him at the least. He wasn’t here to cause trouble; he wasn’t here to ruin her. "I will not hurt you." He took a few paces back, ink dipped lobes pricking upright upon his skull. It was not his place to corner a stranger, let alone a mare. As she hesitated to respond to his question he let it slide, as her past was not his current concern, he couldn’t make her tell it. Her following statement about home being permanent made him reflect on the Woodlands; and what had become of Home. "If the world allows it." He said plainly, hinting back to a world she was probably very unaware of that no longer existed thanks to the changing times, war and famine.

A slight smile played on his lips as she inquired about his invitation to a home. It made him feel good, that he actually had a home to go too after five years of running on empty. "I do, a land of peace and beauty, protected by barriers unseen forged of glass. A shadowed forest where light only glitters through the canopy; a land of the moon goddess lingering on the oceans bay." He smiled at his description, how wonderful he made it sound. But words did its beauty no justice. She would have to see It for herself. "The Worlds Edge, they call it." He breathed, his masculine tones fading into the shadows as he turned to gaze at the moon as she smiled down upon the duo. "Should you desire, I could accompany you there." He stated, turning back and resting his (what seemed to be) gentler eyes upon her painted panes. Lobes lazed to the side, though listening to hear her soft voice.

"Do not be afraid, Ayelet."

The girl's soul quivers, the liquid glass gently rippling, light gliding over the surface in a beautiful, swift motion. Her thick glass lids close gently as her name is rolled off the tongue of someone she barely knew. Her hearts beats begin in a stranger rhythm, one that showed her fear without her truly expressing it. She gazes at him as his soft words slip out again, saying he will not harm her. She frowned, frustrated that she could not hear his heart beat as she can hear her own, or see her own. Hearts change rhythm when one lies. She whispers to herself, her soul's thoughts echoing through her glass body. She looks at the stallion just as he speaks again.

"If the world allows it."

The way his crimson eyes glazed over for a moment told the girl he was thinking of something. She understands his words and the reasons behind them. "And if fate allows." Her sparkling eyes dim as she sees her daughter, trembling over her bloodied body. She need not swallow back her tears, for there are none to be wept. All the tears she had were taken from her when she was given a second chance. It was as though the Gods sapped away her tears to keep her from weeping day and night for the second chance she didn't deserve. She need not inhale to keep herself in check, for there were no lungs to hold that air. Thinking deeper about these things made her want to crumble, brake her own body, release her chained soul. In fact, that is how she has earned the crack along her face, to show she has tried once before to destroy herself. The Gods had shamed her when she first tried to throw herself off a cliff, hoping to finally feel at peace when her body shatters upon the ground. Yet somehow, they took her body and gently set her in a forest, away from edges. She assumed the reason they gave her a crack across her face was to constantly remind her she was to move forward and be happy about her second chance.

But she wasn't, nor would she ever be.

The masculine voice of the black stallion takes her forward, and she blinks, stunned for a moment. It felt like she had been standing there for hours, but in fact it had only been minutes, maybe even seconds. Nato, the steed's name was, began to speak of a home protected by a near invisible wall made of the same material as her. Glass. Yet she was a special type of glass, one that no one would find anywhere else, which gave her the slightest twinge of joy within her lost soul. She was one-of-a-kind, no other to be made of her exact matter. This was the clearest memory, watching the Gods take the tears of her mourning herd and making them into glass, granting her a new form to possess. The World's Edge. She replays the name over in her head. "Is it really the Edge of the World?" Such a place as this couldn't really hold the End of the World now could it? She stands for a moment, a gentle, cool breeze playing with her liquid hair.

She stands silent for several moments following, contemplating her next moves. Should the girl seek out a herd, a place where she could be safe? She knew being alone in a strange, foreign land was a dangerous thing, especially for someone as fragile in body and mind as her. Finally she has her mind made up, her thoughts collected as best she can while in the presence of a predator. "Take me." Her words are soft, yet given a brush of confidence, something she has forgotten in these many painstaking years. She prepares to walk, wishing to see this 'World's Edge' this stallion has explained to her. She waits for him to lead the way, hesitant about her decision. What if he was misleading her, trying to ensnare her in his dangerous trap? She tries not to think of this, and instead admires Mother Moon's radiance, praying upon her that she will be safe during this journey.
