There is a certain time of year that fills everyone with peace and happiness, and I am no different. As I soar easily through the skies, I feel that I have come to terms with my mistakes and the wrongs that I have suffered in my short life. And it has indeed been short - I am, after all, but six years old, and I will live, I hope, into my twenties, or even thirties, if I am remarkably lucky. There is plenty of time for me still. I hope that I have begun to give back to my family by building their wall - my wall - and offering a form of protection to them. It will be fantastic, when it is completed, all steel and fire and harsh beauty. It will be wondrous. And it is mine. Pride fills me as I think of my creation - and then I see it. I see the tree. My flight begins to slow and I descend, my wings flared ever to slightly to cause the drop; I land in an easy trot, shaking out my wings and settling them against my sides. My mane and tail fall into windswept heaps, somehow graceful despite the disarray. I stop on the outside of the gathered horses, looking in awe at the scene before me. I can see why it has drawn such a crowd. It is light, and silver, and gold, and fun, and good cheer, and oh, it is so very lovely! I have never seen anything quite like this! I find myself entranced, and as the minutes tick by, I am content to bask in the warm glow of the star. I am happy to find myself amongst friends, however temporary the peace may be. For now, we are all happy. For now, we are all friends. And that is enough for me. "Talk talk talk." @[name] |
