There was one thing that the Throat did not have in abundance, and that was grass. Currently, Gaucho is rolling around, enjoying the sweet scent of clover and thistle, as his large body flails about.

Gaucho tucked his wings close to his body, to enable him to roll farther from one side to another. Mara had jumped ship almost immediately, knowing both from Gaucho's mind as well as his body language, what he meant to do. While she knew that he cared for her a great deal, she didn't believe he was careful enough not to squish in, in the throes of rolling-ecstasy. Slithering into the grass, the snake watched with large black eyes, as the massive form of Gaucho flailed about like a child, clearing enjoying himself very much. His bone-pierced muzzle darted through the grasses, snorting and blowing at flowers as they came into reach. His dark forelimbs struck at the sky, as he once again heaved himself over onto the other side. With a loud grunt, the dun rolled completely until he was resting comfortably on his limbs. Spreading his wings now that his body was no longer resting on them, he flapped childishly, stirring up a mini tornado of the grass that he had up-rooted.

With a snort, he rocked his body up until he was standing - shaking violently to rid his dark coat of the clover and grasses that clung to it. His dark ears flopped in an obviously relaxed position, as his dark nose dropped back to the grass to graze. The sun shone brightly against his coat, causing small patches of dark moisture to appear against his well-defined muscles. The odd-patterns that adorned his left hip, eye, and chest, glistened as sweat broke out across the entirety of his body.

Everybody loved a good roll, and Nyx was no different. Her mother had been repulsed by it, loathing the green stains that she got on her pristine pelt, and Nyx had received many a beating for coming home brown rather than grey. Something about this meadow's lush grass was just too inviting to pass up, though, and the silver mare was soon on her back with her black legs flailing in the air. She didn't give a monkeys if she could be seen, and quite happily thrashed from side to side like a beached whale until her every itch was scratched. When she returned to all fours, she twisted her neck to examine her sides, noting that they were now covered with grass stains - fortunately her mother wasn't anywhere around to kick seven bells out of her, and she contented herself with shaking to remove the worst of the clotting mud and grass blades.

She trotted forwards, happy as a clam, looking for a suitable patch to graze in. As she did, she noticed another set of legs waving in the air, and wondered mildly if perhaps this corner of Helovia grew horse-leg-plants in its meadows. But the limbs soon disappeared to be replaced by a stallion, a pegasus...or was he? The iron lady's eyes widened as she noted the deer-like protuberences on his head, and she was forced to consider the fact that he could be both pegasus and unicorn, a combination she had not seen in all her days. She advanced on him, gawking openly at his bizarre markings and decorations (and definitely not staring at his fine muscles, no way, definitely not). He even had a bone through his nose, and Nyx wondered how the hell he'd managed to get that in there. She was so focused on him that she didn't see the snake lurking in the grass nearby, which was just as well - her natural fear of predators extended to snakes, especially the venomous sort, and she likely would have made a complete fool of herself as she had done with d'Artagnan's hellhound. "What are you?" she found herself asking, oblivious to just how rude that was. Her frozen gaze drifted between his horns, wings and accessories, and it took all her self-control not to go over and start prodding at him like a mad scientist.

Gaucho's antlered brow raised as the grasses stirred heralding the presence of another. His stormy-blue gaze narrowed as it landed upon the unicorn who approach. For a moment he was nearly taken aback - she looked so much like his offspring, Zenobia. Of course Zeno was far younger, with wings instead of horns, but the odd white-dun markings were simply too rare to overlook. Had he not known himself better, he might have wondered if she was one of his, from a long ago courtship. Grunting and raising his head fully, he appraised the mare as she neared.

She was quite tall - though perhaps it was simply something about the Dragon's Throat that attracted smaller mares. Stallions even, for other than Hector and Levi, Gaucho was easily the tallest amongst any of them. This mare even looked taller than Midas...then again, that wasn't especially hard either. Her question was momentarily lost upon him, as his dark gaze surveyed her feminine form. Obvious masculine attention was paid to each ripple of her pelt, before finally moving to meet her icy gaze, and finally comprehend her question.

Only...he didn't really.

"What....I am?" He repeated awkwardly, his deep voice muddled as he forced himself to pronounce the words. His speech had improved somewhat, and yet it would likely always sound forced, and choppy. Even so, it was more of her question that was confusing him, rather than selecting the right words. "I am...Gaucho?". He offered uncertainly.

In the grass, not wanting to be stepped on by another set of hooves, the gun-steel coloured snake made her way back to her bonded. She coiled herself around one of his muscled legs, circling upwards until she met his shoulder. From there, she wound herself up his wing joint to his wither, up his neck, to finally settle in his antlers. Mara's black gaze looked at the new mare uncertainly, having no idea what it was she was intending to ask either.

Loretta, crouched low in the foliage near the edge of the meadow, watched the two converse. One she recognized from Archibald's memory, the image of the bay pegasus collapsing himself into his own wings with the onset of Archibald's magic. Loretta's tail twitched and she crouched lower, suppressing a growl that would surely alert them to her presence. The other, a mare, was a stranger to the red and white bitch. Loretta's amber eyes narrowed. She had been hunting but was caught off guard by the two figures as the bay stallion's rolling actions scared away her prey. Winter was coming and she could not afford to lose what she had. Anger bubbled in the back of her mind and she sent everything she was witnessing straight to Archibald. He was grazing at the south end of the Meadow, near the Heart, with his twins at his side under his cover.

Loretta wondered if these two horses were going to be a threat to her bondmate's family. She did not understand their babble, but she knew Archibald would tell her what she needed to know. They body language was quite neutral at this point, and nothing sent the bitch on edge, except for her lost prey, and so she waited. Loretta, still crouched in the foliage, was downwind of the horses and knew well to keep herself hidden unless she was commanded, by nature or the Dauntless no one would yet tell, to strike. The bitch's ears perked forward, trying to decyfer the words of the bay and the grey, but nothing prevailed.

She continued to shamelessly oggle him, but noted with a small stab of smug pleasure that he seemed to be doing the same thing, although perhaps for different reasons. He seemed puzzled by her question, instead offering what she assumed was his name. "Oh, hello there Gaucho. I'm Nyx...I mean, what are you? You have horns AND wings. That's...different." Again she had to ram her hooves firmly down to prevent the temptation to go and poke and sniff at him, deciding that would just be too rude even for her. She really didn't know the meaning of thinking before she spoke, but she'd had enough irritated kicks over the years to know that trying to feel up a complete stranger was never a good idea. Instead she contented herself with staring at him with unabashed awe, noting in particular his horns, which were magnificent and antler-esque. They could certainly do some damage in battle, and having wings would be an added bonus. He was certainly a handsome man, even though Nyx generally paid very little attention to looks, choosing to focus on strength instead. She thought logically - having a pretty boy sire her foals was not going to make them strong, but laying with a warrior would give her children the added boost they would need to survive. In her old herd, the strongest stallion defeated his predecessor and any pretenders, gaining all the mares as his prize. Although the iron lady was certainly not looking to reproduce again any time soon, she felt quite within her rights to admire the menfolk of Helovia and noted subconsciously that Gaucho looked strong as well as panty-dropping hot.

The movement of the grass caused the silver woman to lower her head, and to her horror she saw a snake curling up around the stallion's leg. She was seconds away from screaming 'SNAAAAAAAAAKE' and kicking madly at it when it slithered up onto Gaucho's shoulder and then his skull, where she could almost meet it eye-to-eye. She took a step backwards to keep well out of its spitting range - if it could even spit, she wasn't too knowledgable on snakes, she just knew they were bad - and shifted her gaze between it and Gaucho. "I don't mean to startle you, but you've got a snake on your head," she hissed in an exaggerated stage whisper. She was sure he had noticed, and he had done well not to scream like a girl, which Nyx would certainly have done had it been her. Venomous snakes did not make good decorative headgear, and she kept one beady blue eye on the serpent whilst also seizing the opportunity to oggle his antlers some more.

[Loretta's okay ! :3 ]

Was it different that he had horns and wings? He wasn't actually sure. All of the Gods seemed to possess both (not that he thought himself a God, but any mean), but so did Hector, as well as Ranjiri. It wasn't so uncommon, was it? And his wasn't even natural...or perhaps that's what she meant. Gaucho nodded his head, as if trying to draw attention to the antlers that she was referring to. "Antlers are magic." He advised solemnly, taking on the awe-d tones of a believer. "Gaucho join Dragon's Throat and then find....find magic, and antlers, and Mara."

He had always attributed this wealth of goods to luck, until he had met the Sun God. After that, everything had changed. The fact that the God appeared before him, without any rhyme or reason, made Gaucho sure of his omnipotence and power. "All come from Sun God - he appear to Gaucho, and talk to Gaucho."

He might have continued to speak of the God, or perhaps to continue to let his eyes greedily take a second helping of Nyx's coat, were it not for her sudden attention to Mara. As the mare retreated a step, Gaucho frowned, wondering to himself if he had missed bath-day, and perhaps smelled. Turning his bulky head to sniff towards his wing, he caught the sound of her voice, remarking that he had a snake in his antlers.

Oh. Right.

He had learned that perhaps snakes were not common in Helovia, or that they were simply not liked - for he had met very few who did not noticeably recoil at the sight of Mara. Were he a more compassionate creature, he might have inquired as to whether or not this hurt Mara's feelings - but assuming that her heart was just as simple and unworried as his own, the thought never crossed his mind.

"Yes" He replied simply, jangling his head slightly to knock Mara about, who, hissed in response and swatted him on the nose with her tail. "Mara a gift from Sun God too. Gaucho find her egg and raise her...Sun God is very good to Gaucho."

OOC: I actually snorted water all over the keyboard at 'had he missed bath-day' xDD

He bobbed his head, and Nyx's awestruck gaze followed the jig of his antlers. They really were quite magnificent. He revealed that they were magic, and the silver mare's spine tingled with delight at another mention of Helovia's powers. She was learning day by day that this place exuded an energy perhaps even stronger than Isilme, and every new mention of its queer powers caused her to almost shudder with the thrill of it. She was, after all, quite scholarly by nature, and enjoyed discovering things that challenged her beliefs. She had never thought it possible to create a wall out of an artificial material, yet the glass barricade of the Edge shattered that line of thinking in seconds. Now here was a stallion with horns that he wasn't born with - the sky was the limit, and the mare itched with her desire to find out as much as she could about all Helovia had to offer. "You have other magic too?" she asked, ever curious. His wording made it seem like his antlers weren't the only supernatural thing he possessed, and she greedily craved more information.

He also mentioned Mara, and Nyx's gaze flickered back to the serpent. Surely, surely he couldn't be bonded to the creature? As if befriending horned hell-dogs wasn't odd enough. Gaucho spoke of a Sun God, and again the girl's interest was piqued. She did not believe in gods, spectres or spirits, putting her faith only in the three great creators of their races - Nieque, Cinnoru and Sepagus. "Sun God?" Still she pushed for answers, like digging for gold - she hoped she wouldn't irritate him. Perhaps her very obvious awe would help her cause, as what stallion wouldn't want to have a mare openly devouring him with her gaze and bombarding him with questions about what made him unique? He confirmed her suspicion that Mara was indeed his snake, that he had raised her from an egg as another gift of this Sun God. Perhaps Nyx was going to have to start believing in that which she had fiercely denied all her life - the existence of gods. Magic, that was fine. Creatures that could share one's mind, peachy. But gods, otherworldly creatures who bestowed gifts on their strongest minions, who pulled the strings of society from behind the scenes? To the grey dove, that was one step too far.

Shaking herself from her reverie, she looked again at the snake. She would certainly be a fierce battle-sister, as long as she could be controlled. "You are very lucky, Gaucho. I imagine she causes quite the stir on the battlefield." It would be a fine tactic, to disrupt a foe's concentration via the use of a big-fanged poison-monster, then strike them when their guard was down. Dishonourable, perhaps, but successful.

Once again, Gaucho nodded his broad skull in response to her question. He did in fact have other magic. Understanding his thoughts, Mara very gently bit the tip of his ear - drawing a single bead of blood. In battle when the pair tried this, Mara's fangs were usually not so precise, thus Gaucho's dark ears held many tiny scars. On this occasion, standing still, she was quite accurate. From his antlers a silvery mist began to ebb and flow - it look like a liquid but was seemingly not bound by physics, as it glided on an unseen breeze. Gently, the mist began to swirl and evolve, taking the shape of three eagles - roughly the size of a small dogs, each of them. Soundlessly they beat their silvery wings, gliding above the pair. While they were physically harmless now, with only the ability to inflict cold and instill fear, soon they would be much more. The Sun God had promised Gaucho that if he praised his name to those who had not heard of him, that he would alter his magic to include the power of the Sun.

"Sun God put Gaucho on a quest. He say, that when Gaucho done - he will make those fire." He nodded to the eagles which had now flown quite high up, shining brilliantly against the sun. "They take any form Gaucho want." He concluded, with a proud nod. A look of intrigue graced Gaucho's primitive features, looking at the white dun. Quessssssst Mara hissed in his mind happily, her forked tongue scenting the air with interest.

"Sun God is best, he rule over light and fire. Better than other Gods here. Gaucho can take you to meet Sun God? Then you see for yourself."

As Nyx turned her attention once again to Mara, the snake immediately seemed pleased. She held herself up off of Gaucho's brow-bone, displaying her fangs proudly. Poisonous venom dripped down from those fangs, harmlessly falling into the snakes mouth. "Mara is poisonous. She also learning how to...para-lies" His paused, trying to find the word, before saying it. The way Mara said it in his head, sounded more like pair-of-liessss, but he didn't think that was quite right.

She watched with a hungry gaze as the snake nipped his ear, and triggered a silvery mist which the mare had to fight very hard not to sniff. In front of her awestruck eyes, the mist turned into eagles, which swooped like real living creatures above them. Something about them was otherwordly and wrong, and the mare supressed a shudder. For once in her life, she was awestruck. "Wow. By Cinnoru's horn, I have never seen the like." Her brain tossed and turned, trying to work out what tied the spilling of blood to the summoning of the silvery spectres. Maybe it was something in the snake's saliva...or maybe Nyx would simply have to accept that she would never discover the logic behind Helovia's magic. It just was, and that was the best explanation she could think of.

He revealed he wanted to make the spirits become of flame, and the mare wondered how move havoc he could create with eagles that left infernos in their wake. Then he made her an offer - to go and see the Sun God herself. Her eyes lit up with a greedy fire, mingled with a decent amount of fear at the idea of meeting such a great diety. Meeting him would force her to conclude that he was real, and that would shatter the beliefs she had gathered over seven years of life. "I would like that. What else can he do? Can he alter the weather?" She thought of her beloved storms, of a god who could summon them at will, as Nyx used to be able to. If he could do that, control the light in the clouds to bring the thunder, then the iron lady would worship him. She refused to believe he existed until she saw him with her own eyes, but when and if she did, she would bend the knee at his altar and swear allegiance, for any who could control the storm were mighty enough for Nyx to pledge herself to. She worshipped nature's wrath, followed it like a loyal dog, and any who could harness its energy would earn the steel soldier's everlasting devotion.

The snake reared up, and Nyx fought the urge to flinch. The venom dripped in lethal strings from the beast's fangs, and the mare flickered an ear in Gaucho's direction as he revealed Mara could both poison and paralyze. Remind me never to get on her bad side, mused the grey lady. "Can she kill?" she asked bluntly. There was a world of difference between poison which caused pain but not death, and poison which was unsurvivable. If Mara's fangs contained the latter, then she would be a dangerous enemy to make - if she wasn't already.

Gaucho carefully pondered Nyx's question. Up until this point, he had merely thought of the Sun God as being all powerful, as if he somehow took precedence over his other siblings. But Gaucho knew that they were all equal, somewhere deep down. He merely considered the Sun God to be the best. Not only was he the patron God of the Throat, but he was also the bringer of light. Seasons ago, the skies had gone black. Was it not the light that they had all missed? For the flowers could not grow without it, nor could the winds be warmed. Grunting to himself, Gaucho silently concluded that the God of the Sun really was better.

"Sun God could. Moon Goddess control water....so together, could make storms of light, or fire. Brother God who controls Spark and Time, together with Sun God could make it rain ee-lec-tric-it-ee." As he said those words, Gaucho paused, mentally envisioning a storm of thunder and lightning. The idea filled him with exuberance and delight. He thought it would be greedy, but mentally made a note to ask the Sun God if he could have that gift, as well. "Sun God do other thing though - light magic used for healing." For Gaucho, this was a minor point. He thought of Onni, and how she seemed to embody this aspect of the Sun God, but it wasn't interesting to him. Something told him it might not be that interesting to the pale mare, either.

"Gaucho take you. Veins not far, that where we find him."

His dark ears flickered as her attention was drawn to Mara. With a proud smile, he nodded his antlered crown. "Mara have enough poison to kill large dogs now. She only 7 season old. Once she is 12, she have enough poison to para-lies horses, and make them very sick. Maybe one day she kill them too." Affectionately, the snake rubbed herself against Gaucho's wide forehead, before turning her black stare to Nyx, enjoying the attention.

Sorry for the wait D:
She grew more awestruck by the minute as he revealed there were multiple gods, all controlling seperate elements. She supposed it was rather like the creators; Cinnoru had controlled water, Nieque earth, and Sepagus air. "Flaming storms...electric rain..." Her voice was almost a coo, so thick was her desire to meet these omnipotent creatures. And he could heal - in Isilme Nyx had learnt of the healers of each herd, possessing magic allowing them to fix wounds no matter how great or small. She had always been intrigued by this potential, but had no desire to wield such power herself. She would let somebody else worry about healing the wounds - she would concentrate on making them.

He mentioned the Veins, and the silver woman cast her mind back to her meeting with Mauja and d'Artagnan, in that bizarre lava-filled place with the altars. Admittedly she hadn't had much time to take in the scenery when she was fleeing from d'Artagnan's hellhound, but she had noticed that the place was particularly eerie and filled with a certain energy. It was relatively unsurprising to her to find out that it was where the gods made their home; it had certain similarities to the Manor in Isilme, where the Tome Guardian lurked. He, with the power to give her the sight she had been born without; perhaps the Sun God was him under a new alias, and would chase Nyx from his lands with accusations of greed. All the same, she nodded. "Yes, that sounds good. Shall we?"

He spoke then of Mara again, and the iron woman's blue gaze met the serpent's black one. She really was a multi-purpose beast, able to poison and paralyze in equal measure; she was not the type of creature Nyx would like as an enemy. "Remind me never to get on her bad side," she said with a shrill, nervous chortle, vocalising her thoughts from earlier. She was really beginning to think she should seek out a companion like Gaucho, Lace, d'Artagnan and Mauja all had - in a battle, she would be capable of facing the horse themselves, and it would be very useful to have a companion to deal with her foe's pet beast. She felt at a desperate disadvantage here, magicless and petless, and felt morally obliged to even the odds.
