It is not the bear that catches your horn when you lower your head, but the mare who is so willing to sacrifice herself to save him. You think she is a fool more so now because if she dies he will die. Despite the darkness that has gripped your soul you know this, though it is of little concern to you where your own companion is. You are undead, the bond that you had with the bear is meaningless to you. Just as meaningless as Lakota and Aodaun are.

As you turn to face Lakota head on you can see the extensiveness of the wound that you inflicted upon her and you cackle as she begins sway on her feet. In your arrogance you assume she is already defeated. You underestimate the power of her companion, chalking his roaring up to his feeling the same amount of pain that his bonded is feeling. Once again you are unprepared for what happens next, so when he starts showing you images of the ones that should mean the most to you split open and torn apart you blink. He distracts you and your magic releases its hold on Lakota's lungs and somewhere deep inside of your chest you feel something akin to panic. He makes you take a step back and you're angry again that he could awaken feelings in you that the darkness had stamped down into nothingness. Feelings that made you question your purpose now.

"Stop!" You hiss threateningly at the bear as he inches closer and you continue to inch backwards. Lakota moves and you look at her and it is in that moment that she and the bear lunge at you again. They knock you backwards and you fall into the water at the base of the wall. You scream and you flail and you try your damnedest to hurt them because you can feel the darkness leaving you already. Your fight stops quickly and you begin to writhe in pain as your body begins to mend itself. New muscle and skin replaces what had been torn away, cracked ribs from your fall into the cave mend, your markings return to their normal color, and you realize that you can see from the socket that had been empty since the darkness had taken root.

You are exhausted and though your body has been repaired you cannot find the will within yourself to move, so you lay where Lakota and Aodaun have shoved you and you just keep telling yourself to breathe.
