With Kye flying in tow, bunches of moss clasped firmly in her grip and dissatisfaction coming off her in waves, Xira led Andash to the Veins. The journey had been long and tiresome, but she'd given him the task only of carrying the ferns, the feathers to his new wings. She had wandered slowly with a tree limb heavy across her back and dragging behind. She was haunted by a rattling and scraping sound that followed her every move. She was pleased to hear silence once more when she reached the veins and was able to at last set it down.

She turned her back to face the stallion that she assumed was close in tow, and let a small smile swipe across her features. It was both nervous and sincere, however- she still scared herself as she approached the idea of friendship, and each of her movements towards the idea were tentative.

She turned suddenly back to the shrines before her, and faced the place where the God of the Earth had appeared earlier. "God of the Earth, I have brought to you the materials you requested and the stallion with the broken wing," Xira said with a respectful dip of her head and a modest relaxation of her expression.

the beautiful is always strange.</style>

The ashen brute had followed the petite vixen like an obedient pup, bound to her by emotions of curiosity, friendship and longing. He did not feel irate when she had not let him in on the secret in the Throat, simply growing evermore curious. The stranger behaviour of his friend was evident, there was an awkwardness shading Xira and this in turn was increasing as they had orb contact. He sensed something, but could not quite point out what it was. The handsome alabaster creature decided to shrug it off and continued to follow her.

Then they had rounded into the land of the Gods. The sapphire hues from the lava lit up the dark heavens as they had entered the sacred lands of the immortals of Helovia, it was evident in the way that everything was silent. The branch that was rested precariously along the small of Xira's back looked heavy and did weigh her mossy roan frame down, but still carried on with a determination he had not seen. Whatever she was doing, it was something worth doing. I just wonder what...
Her voice tingled his senses as the sweet sound echoed around the area, the dry terra firma vibrating slightly and winding into his sturdy ashen pillars. A ruffling of his feathers continued to plant him in reality so he knew this was not a dream. Keeping quiet while Xira spoke, he listened to the words. I have brought to you the materials you requested and the stallion with the broken wing.

He then turned his soft azure gaze to stare into her olive pools, with the same softness echoing through his deep voice,
"Xira? Why are we here?" It was curiosity and warmth that the tones were questioning, not because he was angry. How could he be? Not towards her.

God of the Earth
Buried in Water and Earth

The earth begins to rumble underneath the pair of travelers. A jolly laugh greets them before the pounding hooves of the Earth God meet with the lava of the Veins, his main whipping abount him youthfully as he comes down to greet them from his flight. Massive brown wings fold, laying neatly on his back as the God turns a gentle face toward the pair, green eyes glittering happily.

"Welcome back, Xira," he says before turning his attention toward Andash. "And welcome, Andash." The great, bearded God turns an eye to the lovely materials gathered by Xira, and a fresh smile breaks across his face. "You have done well."

Then, a serious look breaches across the face of the Earth God, turning his focus to the crumpled wing of Andash. His eyes remain warm as his eyes shift toward the stallion's face. "Do you wish for your wing to be whole, my son?" he asks in earnest, not wanting to change the physical form without the stallion's explicit permission. "Your dear friend went through the trouble to collect these materials for your sake, but the choice is ultimately yours alone."

The God of the Earth appears and Xira backs away with deference and reverence for the great being. Strange that she has at last found something to respect and someone to care for, and that they should both stand beside her now. She listens to the deity with great care and delicate attentions before turning to Andash and casting him a sly and tricky grin. He owes her a favor now, hopefully he understands how her system works.

Then again, a small part of her hates the fact that she thinks of it still as that. Is he not a friend? Why couldn't this simply be- a gift with no strings attached for the first time? "Now do you understand, Andash?" the roan spoke in an almost rhetorical tone, keeping her eyes focused on the ghostly pale stallion with the splatter of blood across his chest. "The God of the Earth is right," she started, nodding a thickly furred head and letting her navy gaze slip back towards the god, " but should you desire your wing to be fixed, I've provided you the opportunity."

Kye, at last seeming to sense reason within her master, ceased her anxious pecking at the moss and let it drop to the earth. Instead she twirled back around in a neat, flown circle back to Xira's wing where she then perched and twittered with satisfaction. Still, the falcon sensed an unwelcome change within Xira's attitude; it was disheartening to see her offer respect to anyone, god or mortal. As if to shoot the falcon down further, Xira then stepped forward and nodded her head slowly to the great being before them. "Thank you, Earth-Watcher, for this gift."

The reality of the situation came crashing down upon Andash like an avalanche. What did he feel? Elation? Disbelief? He certainly felt both of them, he for one could not believe that Xira of all creatures would do this for him. Or for anyone, for that matter. On the outside from the moment he had met her she had held a cold front, a barrier between any other creature and herself - the real her. It was only now that the alabaster sir was beginning to realise that perhaps he had been mistaken and it was just a show. He could not get through his mind exactly what it was, and what intentions she had planned in her crown. The petite roan had caught his eye the moment he laid pools on her, and now he thought that he had found a true friend, and hopefully more.

With a small hesitation and mumbling to himself incomprehensible words, he replied to the earthen God, his voice quiet bearing tones of respect, disbelief and warmth,
"More than you could imagine, great sir." His pools filled with sincerity, he turned to Xira and reached out his good bleached wing to touch her back softly, "You did this all for me?"

Still gripped with total confusion and disbelief for the situation he now found himself in, he sighed and smiled with his soft leaden velveteens. No one had ever done such a grand thing for him. And he knew that someday he would pay Xira back. The mossy roan deserved everything for giving him the chance to be whole again. But he soon came to terms with the fact that perhaps what would make him truly whole would be his friend that stood beside him - Xira herself.

God of the Earth
Buried in Water and Earth

The God watches with a knowing smile as the look of understanding spreads across Andash's pale face, eyes bearing something similar to disbelief as he is taken aback by the gesture. Xira is learning the biggest lesson of all here, and that is kindness. The God enjoyed bestowing the mortals with gifts, especially in selfless cases like this, when they fell into his lap easily. Green eyes watch in waiting for the reply he was sure to come, a bemused expression on the ancient face of the Earth.

A chuckle breaks out across the air at the display of respect, even as Andash accepts the God's offer, like pebbles being splattered with rain. "Let's get started, then," he says in a jolly tone, looking toward Xira as she adresses him. He winks at her, a quick, friendly gesture. "You are the giver in this situation, Xira. I am just a conduit for your kindness." He takes a nod, ram horns dipping slightly, before stepping back from the pair and lowering his head in concentration.

Green eyes close tightly, and suddenly Andash's wing turns to water, falling with a happy splash from his body. A green haze envelopes the materials brought by the pair, lifting them from the ground and arranging them in the shape of a wing. Bone first, then moss, and lastly the ferns fall into place in the air above. The earthen wing glides to Andash's side, the bark of the Dragon Tree resting comfortably on the stallion's shoulder for a moment before the whole area glows a brilliant blue. Real feathers begin to sprout, joints, bone, muscle all grow so quickly the eye cannot truly follow the movement. Then suddenly, all is still.

The wing now upon Andash's side is symmetrical to the original, aside from the marking of a length fern stretching out from his shoulder toward the joint of the wing, curling gracefully off to the side - a constant reminder that this is a gift.

The God opens his eyes, smiling at his handiwork before beginning to speak. "Now, I wouldn't try that out until you get some flying lessons, sir. Perhaps Xira would be kind enough to show you how."

Andash seemed so surprised- that was what struck her first. And more than that, he seemed almost blissful. She couldn't help but feel warmth rise within her as he thanked her for the gift, spoke of it in disbelief. Had it really been that much of a bother? Not for her, certainly. And then, as the God of the Earth began to work his magic, it became clear to her that the effort was well worth it. Andash's deformed wing fell to the ground a perfect sheet of water, and was rapidly reformed with the materials the two had gathered until it was surrounded by light and a wing as normal as any other. She found the process fascinating, the movements of the god impossible to turn from. Even when the magic was complete she could not stop watching Andash, looking him over now that he was outfitted with a wing just like any other.

Perhaps the two of them could really go flying now. Kye scolded her for such sentimental thinking, but the roan mare couldn't help but let it slip into her consciousness. The God of the Earth suggested lessons in flying, and the chestnut green let a small smile slip onto her features. She had taken the deity's words to heart- she was the giver here, he was only the facilitator. The satisfaction and the sensation of having done something good for perhaps the first time in her life was electrifying, but she wondered if what she felt was truly a positive feeling. Was it worth it? The question plagued her, even as she looked over to the stallion beside her to watch out for his expression. She searched in his face for whatever was to come next- perhaps a smile, a tear, maybe a confession. She found herself scared to see what it would be, nervous and twitching her tail to show it. She opened her lips to thank the God and found nothing eloquent enough to say, let her navy eyes settle on Andash once more, and maintained her silence out of a lack of thought of how to speak to him. This had changed everything, and she hadn't even meant for it to.

Watching in pure amazement, Andash felt no pain as his deformed wing quickly dissolved into the sweet sound of water crashing against the ground. The sheet of water was then replaced with the materials that Xira and himself had collected, forming into the shape similar to his good wing. Within moments it had gone from being ferns and branches to a magnificent bleached wing, complete with feathers. What really caught his azure pools, Andash saw a discrete marking form over the top, likening a fern that spread across it.

Seeing the smile on the Earth god's velveteens, he knew that he had done himself proud. It was worth it to see a warmth vibrate through all three of them. Andash wasn't sure exactly what to say. What am I supposed to say?
"I cannot thank you enough... Words- they aren't enough, thank you." He dipped his handsome crown to the God, and then turned his bracing frame towards Xira. Seeing the expression on her visage was enough to keep him warm throughout the winter.

He stepped towards the mossy roan, stretching his wings slightly to test their strength - they were fairly weak but he guessed they would strengthen over time and through use. The small smile he had witnessed cross her muzzle was a sign that perhaps Xira was knocking down her own cold barriers. He still couldn't quite believe that the vixen would do something like that for him; he was no special creature, he was just a simple brute that had fell upon Helovia by chance. And now he knew that that accident was possibly the best decision of his life.
He stepped on his leaden daggers, moving closer and closer to her. Soon he was well within reach to reach out which is what he did; stretching his crown out he went to lean against her shoulder, whispering,
"No one has ever done anything like this for me, but you did, he hesitated, almost feeling like his heart was in his mouth at that point, "I can't thank you enough Xira. I'm so lucky to have you..." Not knowing whether he'd gone too far, he stepped back, shock in his pools. "I apologise."

Stupid, stupid Andash.
