[Monster challenges Ajax and if Ajax wins Monster will take him to Mauja, if Ajax loose Monster will drive him away. Continuing on this: Thread
800 words limit (as stated in rules)
4 attack posts and closing defense
Setting: World’s Edge, midday, some small clouds on a blue, clear sky. Hot, but a slight breeze is blowing]

The Monster, dark as a starless sky with eyes fiery red and yellow, was standing on his hind legs still. He pawed at the air with his fronthooves as the echo of his mad voice was slowly dying. He’d challenged the stranger - a stallion as black as himself - to a duel. If the stranger won the Monster would - with his tail between his legs - take him to king Mauja, if not nothing would stop the beast from trying to kill him.

The stranger could thank his lucky star that the Monster had had a Master (that Master being Mauja) for quite a while now. Because when he had someone who controlled him the black stallion wasn’t just a mindless killing-machine. Mauja had taught him not to try to destroy whoever came his way and that was lucky for the stranger.

The merciless sun shone on the Monster’s black, dirty hide as he finally angled forward and let his forequarters fall to the ground. Sweat was already beginning to stripe his neck and his coat looked a bit curly. His fine chiseled head was held high and his tail stood like a battle flag behind him in the slight breeze. He waited patiently for the stranger to answer his challenge.

Ajax met the filthy, ugly Monster and answered his call."How dare you challenge me!To show you a lesson,I will fight my way into the herd!"Ajax lowered his horn, ready to attack.Sweat glittered his neck and dripped off his perspiring face.He would spare this monster no mercy."For Diedre!"He shouted.Ajax charged the wicked Monster, hoping and praying that his attack would land.Ajax felt as if time was standing still. As the seconds ticked by,Ajax's adrenaline pumped. His heart started beating faster.Would his attack land?Could he win this fight to get to Mauja? This was a fight-a fight for the herd.

Blood red nostrils flared, tangled black mane danced over an arched neck, onyx hooves trampled the grass and flanks heaved in anticipation.

It started!

The bulkier stallion accepted the challenge, he would fight and he spared no time to attack. He came like a whirlwind straight on - much like the Monster’s first unofficial attack. And just like Ajax had easily avoided Monster’s head on charge so did the mad unicorn avoid Ajax’s.

The black beast took a small step to the left a second before the heavier stallion would have impaled him on his spiral horn. The Monster also turned his head towards Ajax as he passed, hoping to scrape his own horn alongside the other stallion’s body. Then he aimed a bite at the curve by his thigh meaning to hold on as hard as he could so that with his forward motion Ajax would help Monster’s teeth to tear at his hide.

As Monster's teeth sank into Ajax's haunches and he screamed in pain.Ajax knew what Monster was trying to do.Ajax stood still, but turned around and bit Monster's ear, hoping he wouldn't miss again. This Monster fought dirty,so Ajax would fight dirty back!Ajax closed his eyes and braced himself. He kicked at Monster repeatedly hoping to release his grip.Ajax twisted and bolted forward, renching out of reach.Ajax felt blood oozing from his coat.He lowered his head and charged unmercifully with all his strength, stabbing his horn again and again, hoping the hits would land.He retreated again and waited for the Monster to attack.

Milliseconds felt like minutes as the Monster slowly reacted to the fact that Ajax had stopped and there would be no forward motion helping his teeth to tear at black hide. He was too late to see the snaking head of his opponent, too late to notice the teeth coming towards his ear but the pain of the bite saved him from the other stallion’s next attack.

While the black beast threw his head back, feeling dull teeth pinching and then glide off his ear, the hind hooves of the heavier stud missed his chin by only an inch. The Monster backed up, trying to get the upper hand of the situation again. But he was too late to aim a strike at Ajax’s rump since his opponent raced off. Monster shook his head, a bit confused about how fast the other had managed to stop his forward motion.

But his opponent had given him time to collect himself and as he came racing again - black hide glistening in the sun - the Monster was ready. He stood his ground, until the very last second and then he threw himself to the right and then to the left - aiming to put his hard shoulder into the softness of the other’s abdomen. Going in so close to the other made him vulnerable for the stabbing horn of Ajax and he didn’t go completely clear of it. The horn scratched his back, drawing blood and making quite an irregular and deep cut. Pain shot though him and with a roar of anger he tried to push his own horn into Ajax’s side.

Ajax felt the stallion's horn slam into his side.Ajax screeched in pain.Ajax ran back to the starting position, out of reach of the Monster's horn.Ajax was furious.Without word or warning he charged the cruel beast.Hoping to ram into the creature's back,he lifted up his horn at just the right second and twisted around, trying to drill his horn into Monster's back.Ajax stealthily retreated and waited for his opponent's next move.

Ajax stamped his hoof and pawed the earth angrily. He would win this fight.Or at least he would try.Monster was a tough enemy, but Ajax thought he could do it.Would he win this fight?Or would he lose and be driven out of World's Edge?If Ajax lost,he would just challenge Monster again and again untill he won the fight.

He seemed to be too caught up in the moment, to full of adrenaline to notice what happened with his try to ram his shoulder into Ajax’s abdomen. But he cared not because his pointy horn succeeded to rip black hide apart and crimson blood started the drip. It found its way down the Monsters black horn twisting with the spirals giving it a red, spiraling highlight.

The grass under the fighting stallions was trampled and dirty - making it less slippery and an ideal place for a fight chest to chest. But Ajax sped off again and the Monster was once more taken by surprise of the other’s speed and agility. And his tactics made Monster confused. Such a big, powerful stallion as Ajax would normally go into a close combat and not use the hit and run technique. But who was the Monster to judge?

The slight confusion distracted Monster from the fact that this time the new attack came faster. But since Ajax had put some lengths between them once again the black beast had time to react. He turned around and kicked with his hind legs aiming for the head of his opponent. Ajax’s horn scratched the outside of his thigh and more blood started running down his black, dirty skin. The Monster kicked again - feeling a bit insecure because of the strong, heavy stallion and his unearthly speed.

Ajax retreated again and the black beast regained his confidence. He perused closely and reared up before the other stallion. He kicked with his front hooves to protect his chest and underbelly from the sharp point of Ajax’s horn and then he twisted his head to the right aiming to take a hold on the other stallion’s crest.

Ajax dodged the attack. It was time.Time for close-combat.Ajax faltered a little.Couldn't he just keep doing his hit-and-run tecnique? As he faltered,he knew he could still surprise Monster. As the stalion caught Ajax's crest in his mouth,Ajax kicked Monster's chest, hoping to knock the wind out of him.He became more confident. He kicked the stallion harder and harder, faster and faster, landing as much hits as possible, willing them to effect. Then in the middle of a kick he twisted around and bit the neaarest hunk of flesh, hoping to surprise Monster, but knowing Monster would retaliate with much better hits.Ajax was new to fighting.Monster was a proffessional fighter.

It must have been the heat or the tiredness that slowly grabbed a hold on the Monster, but once more he failed to really notice what became of his attacks. Had his kicks landed? How could he fail to feel it?

Forgetting the confusion the black beast bit down as hard as he could on Ajax’s crest, holding on even has hard hooves abused his chest. He felt bruised even after the first kick, but the chest bone was there, protecting him from sharper pain. The Monster held on until the other twisted in his grip aiming to bite him on the neck. The black beast let go and jumped to the side so that Ajax’s teeth only met thin air.

Pivoting his forequarters away from the other stallion Monster kicked again - hoping to land a severe blow on Ajax’s muzzle. He put all his strength in the kick, feeling the pain in his muscles as his legs stretched as far as they could - searching for the black nose of the opponent.

With flanks heaving and sweat dripping the Monster backed off. Red and yellow eyes searched Ajax’s face and suddenly he felt a bit unsure about what Mauja would think about this. After all he had acted on his own - and he was not supposed to do that.

Fun fught!
Now you just write a Closing defense and a judge will judge this. If Ajax loose and wants to challenge again I think you must wait one week =)]

Ajax backed away dizzied by the crushing blow of his oponnent. He backed to starter position but not all the way.And he dodged the next blows despite his dizziness. He shook his head to get the dizzieness out.He didn't think he could make it too easy. What would Diedre think when she saw her handsome mate pitifully streaked with blood?Ajax felt sorry for the Monster."We both have fought well, sir.I think after this we should both go back to our homes, eat something, and have our mates fuss on us all day,"he said, grinning. He wondered if Monster had a mate. The poor Monster probably didn't.His mate would fuss on him and insist he ate and drank. She would freak when she saw him, too. He didn't think he would win the fight. He was determined to win because he wanted to win with all his heart so he could get into the herd.He had searched years and years to find Helovia and he found it and now he just HAD to join his homeland's herd.
