Silence loudly set over the atmosphere, it loomed in the air and made him shuffle his hooves uncomfortably as curious eyes glanced over her striking wings and interesting blue hues. Perhaps she didn't hear him or her silence was a way of saying get lost, he wasn't sure if he should say something else or move on. However, as if sudden recognition had dawned on her, the mare stirred and intense blue eyes turned in his direction. Her stare was unnerving, his confidence buckling and forcing his own gaze downwards; what was her problem? First she didn't acknowledge him at all and now she looked upon him like a freezing blizzard. Who knew what strange, convoluted mind was behind that stare, in that moment she reminded him of his own father, suffocating in presence.

Lips twitched and she spoke for the first time, her voice surprisingly lighter than he imagined, but her words were like a build up to a crescendo. He stood dumbly, swallowing in fear as her voice gained height and her expression turned into a strange kind of twisted smile. The belle's voice reached it's loudest and Sacre winced his eyes shut, cursing inwardly for his foolish curiosity. Her voice seemed all the more worse for their location, a cramped cave where sound seemed to bounce off the walls. Sacre carefully reopened his eyes as the mare became quieter, her feathers falling back after puffing up so scarily, an image that would stay with the colt for a long time. She addressed him with softness, speaking a heart wrenching truth. It was a silly question to ask, though the boy wasn't quite expecting that reaction. Was this the sign of someone who had cracked from confinement?

He remained in shocked silence for a minute, the seconds ticking by with excruciating slowness until the colt finally managed to find his voice again and that fool hardy courage that took him into sticky situations. I was is what he wanted to answer, now he wasn't sure where he was or what he was doing, his mind was spinning that fast. "No, but... It can't get any worse than this." His voice trembled, hating himself for his inability to find courage and conviction, wishing Roux was by his side to give him more confidence. He'd seen the wraiths that stalked about outside, they were the two foals he'd once called friend, even now his heart twisted at the thought of that awful memory. Was the land really crawling with them? "It has to get better."

Sacre had places to go, dreams to fulfil, friends and family to check on. Didn't this mare have that? Or was she always this alone? He didn't know what he would or could do if she wasn't okay, his warm heart would have tried to find a way, but part of him wondered if she'd even appreciate or want him to try.

"I didn't mean to offend, you just looked... Lonely." He mumbled his good intentions, not really wanting to ignite that ferocity he'd seen in her earlier, he never knew mares could be this scary.
