thrilling to think, poor child of sin - it was the dead who groaned within
The savage was not the last, but it was close enough. After her, a stallion trotted in, one that was unfamiliar to her. He introduced himself as Lloyd; not that she really cared. As she stood in the shadows, the mist threatened to engulf her completely, and she would gladly let it. Maybe then, she could slip away unnoticed. Yet just as her thought of escape crossed her mind, Mauja began to speak. As far as getting acquainted with everyone, she would probably have to disappoint the pale stag; she wasn’t going to hang around and chit chat. Mauja should know, so hopefully there wouldn’t be any cross looks when she decided to leave. His bit of information about the wolf perked her interest; it could very well be the same wolfling as she had encountered in the Steppe. If so, she might pay this Arathea a visit; she seemed like she would be worth the effort.

Next came the question of ranks, and Korra would have to agree that their numbers of warriors and phantasms were disturbingly low. Even worse now, with two of them incapacitated, she thought, glaring at Seiren and Lotus. The news of other herds trying to steal her liege made the savage bare her teeth in a soundless growl. If she got her paws on them, they wouldn’t be able to walk away unharmed. The metallic taste of blood filled her mouth, teeth clenched together tightly. The first to speak up after Mauja was a bay mare that Korra knew not, proclaiming that she wanted position of warrior. Brown eyes squinted slightly, taking a closer look and deeming the mare a sound addition to their shrinking army. Hopefully a soldier and not just an airhead with a knack for showing off. Lena spoke next, and Korra nodded to herself in approval; emissary would be the right choice for the cheerful mare, who would easily be able to gather intelligence without looking like a threat.

The black Friesian with the lightning marks spoke next, wanting to be a phantasm. Korra knew her not, so she would leave the judgment of that completely up to her king. The stallion called Lloyd asked to be either warrior or phantasm, and Korra hoped it would be the former; they were in serious lack of blunt muscle force. Coris and Ulrik exchanged words next, that she had no interest in, so her eye drifted to Lotus standing next to the black mechanic. Just then, the pregnant mare spoke, and Korra became thoroughly sour at her words. Stepping down from being a warrior? Serving with the strength of her blood? The only good her blood would be was if it was spilled on the dirt before her. The garron spat at the ground and raised her rasping voice, words spiteful and full of contempt. “Whelping. What a noble purpose, I’m sure it’ll do a lot of good,” she spoke in her hoarse voice, not giving a shit if she stepped on some toes.

Not deeming Lotus worthy of another look, she let her eyes drift back to Mauja. More spoke, words that didn’t matter much to her. She was content with being where she was, not striving to achieve high ranks but striving to protect her home. Should Mauja want to name a champion, she would be up for it, but she wanted him to make the decision by himself. She figured she would be eligible, with her fighting experience, but the pale king would know who he trusted.
