Everything in Helovia had changed since the population emerged from the underground. The W.A.R effort was lost to his mind, for he only cared about finding protection for the most important things in his life: his mare and his children. They had been exploring collectively, as was Archibald. On their trek to the Heavenly Fields Loretta took a run through the world they used to know. The Windtossed Foothills was completely changed. Now, instead of the glorious mountain and forest paths there was a system of raging waterfalls and channels. The bonded pair decided that it was no longer the place that tethered their past to them, and they would not return. The Dragon's Throat was not an option, the heat too unbearable and Gaucho was their lead. Archibald would not take orders from the box of rocks that he was--Archibald was superior in every way and would not stumble before the winged idiot just because he fell at the hooves of the fucking Sun god. The anger still burned deep in his chest for the golden tribrid that burned his home so long ago. Likewise, the Basin only allowed unicorns, and Archibald detested their stale, wintery attitude.

And so, here they were, the Dauntless and his bitch, standing at the broken, shattered remnants of the wall he had bypassed just within the year. He remembered coming here, stalking through the mist and the forest to battle it out with the silver grullo, Lace. Loretta's mind danced momentarily with the memory of Fajira and how she scrambled in the iron grip of her jaws. Scowling, Archibald squashed the imagery in his bonded's mind. Loretta's ears lowered and she sat down, setting her amber eyes away from the kingly stallion. Archibald took a step over a large chunk of blue-white glass and bellowed out a thick, wild call for the lead of this land.

The mist was familiar, the same image that he remembered as he and his warriors brought Donovan's dead body back to the Foothills. The sun was just rising, the early morning painted in soft purples and oranges, the chilly night of Birdsong would soon become the hot, weary day that had been evident the past few weeks. Sighing, Archibald waited, him and his companion completely silent. They were, however, aware of their surroundings, ready to react to any attack or approach.

The queen was trying to stay home now more, if only because Kaj worried about her when she ventured out, but it was hard for her wanderer's heart to stay tethered in the lands for long. At least it was easy where there were tasks to complete or friends to be found, but even the lively woods seemed to be quiet as of late. They just needed more members, that was all, as was always her solution. More bodies to spread the word of peace, more friends to bring a bright and cheery attitude to the mist forest. And today was her lucky day, it seemed. Perhaps she could accomplish both missions- keeping her king happy and adding new friends to their family- just by answering the call that rang out through the morning air.

Picking up an easy trot, Kahlua made her way to the shattered remains of the wall, lips turned down as she remembered that she still needed to ask her king his thoughts on the matter. She had asked various council members, reached for their thoughts when she didn't know how to interpret her own, and could only come to one logical conclusion- the wall had to go. Mirage had been afraid, secretive, stealthy, hiding her family away. But as Lady Moon had reminded her and Kaj, she was not Mirage and she did not have to follow in Mirage's footsteps. She could pave her own way as queen, make her own history and footsteps. It would just take some time.

Coming upon the beast and his dog, Kahlua looked up to him, though not much afraid at his height. He was only inches taller than Kaj, with whom she was more than happy to cuddle up against. “My friend,” she offered brilliantly with a nod, stepping over various patches of broken glass to be closer to this monstrous stranger. “I'm Kahlua, how can I help you?” Her dancing soprano matched her smile and bouncing step in every way, her presentation nothing more than a child draped in a queen's robes, but it was part of her charm. She would not be Kahlua without it.

Dark ears flicked as golden eyes narrowed in on a figure in the mist. It moved lightly, delicate among the ancient trees and stones. Her bodice was painted in harsh, contrasting tones of black and white. Archibald stayed silent, waiting for her to close the distance between them. He did not set any defenses, and kept a cooling air towards Loretta, for the mare before them did not seem any threat. She was small, and scrawny, easy enough for the Dauntless to demolish should she chose to attack. Was she a soldier on patrol? If so, then there was more work that needed to be done here than he anticipated. Perhaps she was a leader, not military as obvious as she expressed her happiness, and the stallion decided she must hold the reign over the politics of this herd. Loretta sighed and lowered her body to press her underbelly against the cool, dewy grass. She stayed with her legs coiled underneath her, however, ready to spring to action should her bondmate call so.

Archibald cocked a quizzical brow when she called him friend. She, plain as the mist before them, must not know who she was speaking to. There were few Archibald called friend and, in the past, they each had given him reason to stop calling them friend. Shifting his weight some, though as unnoticeable as a blink, the warlord moved his tongue to amuse her after she introduced herself, "Archibald the Dauntless." His name was a simple title, but one known throughout Helovia. All legend-titled were, and he stood among them. Loretta scoffed across their bond. Too little. Too weak. No legend title, not leader. Archibald, tempted to smirk at his bonded's evaluation, instead looked directly into the mare's deep, emerald eyes.

Best not keep intentions unknown. "I am here to request entrance, solace, on your land. In return, I offer my services as warrior--or perhaps more--for your land. I have served well in my years residing in Helovia, as a General and Chief alike among the Windtossed Foothills and the Grey." His stoney expression gave nothing to malicious intent or ill-conceived thoughts against this land. His time here waged in battle were through orders and not through his own wanton desires.

Archibald the Dauntless, he offered, and the queen ran the name through her memory banks for any sort of memories she had of him. She found nothing more than a few murmurs of his name, mentions here and there in passing, but surely his name was known to her. Really, what she ended up wondering was should she introduce herself with the name that had been granted to her by those around her. The Sunshower. Was it pretentious to do so? A moment ago she would have thought so, and yet she did not find it pretentious when Archibald called himself by his title. And how many times had she introduced Mirage and Thor by their respective titles? Too many to count. She mused over the thoughts a moment longer before storing them away, perhaps to be dug up at a later time.

“Come, cross our shattered wall, walk with me,” she offered with a nod of her head, not content to stand still for too long. She began walking back into the woods, no particular destination in mind, looking back to see if the beast- the Dauntless- and his pup would follow. “She's beautiful,” she said, nodding to Loretta. Perhaps beautiful was not a term that the Dauntless would appreciate, but the queen was an amiable sort of personality and couldn't help herself.

“We need warriors, and a good General,” she continued, “But even though Mirage and Thor have left, we still want peace in Helovia. We're just taking a more active approach, reaching out for friendship and taking diplomatic trips around the land.” She looked up to him, far up, to see if he had any thoughts on the matter, giving him ample time to respond should he choose to. “What do you think warriors would be good for in a band that wants peace?” The question was not accusatory, no hint of malice in her voice at all. It was genuine curiosity, one she had been struggling with since she had been named queen of the land. Just like the wall, which only screamed of an isolated herd, what use would warriors have in a halcyon society? Perhaps this stallion could shed light on the matter. Besides, if he had aims to become her general and her councilman, it would be good to know what sort of thoughts he had.

Archibald was not surprised by her actions, turning back towards her land and asking him to follow her. He did so, though with his ears cocked backwards skeptically. He felt no threat from her, and he knew she did not have warriors hiding in the trees waiting to jump and murder him, for Loretta's keen nose and eyes would have detected them long ago. The Dauntless and his bitch were not simple-minded creatures.

"You have not given me your title." He noted simply, coming to the conclusion that she must be escorting him to her superior. Her body did not look crafted well enough to be a warrior--no, she was lithe and smooth, something of a more civilized, quiet profession he assumed. Turning his golden eyes sideways to Loretta, trotting at his heels between him and the painted mare, he nodded simply. She was a beautiful specimen, painted in the finest hues of red and white, her eyes a fiery amber. Her muscles were taught, her coat well taken care of. She was as beautiful as she was deadly, that was certain. The warlord nodded again, turning his gaze back towards Kahlua momentarily before he looked ahead at their path.

Her tongue was smooth as a gentle stream, trickling into his ears with questions--simple, innocent, curious questions--questions he knew other leaders would ask. Ophelia, Gossamer, Evers; they would all ask such questions. They were all scholars, and his assumption that Kahlua followed that path was being continually solidified in these short moments they shared together. "Whether in peace or at war, soldiers need to be strong and able. Knowledge is half of the battle, and warriors that are well-versed in the art of physical combat will be as eager to train their minds. In peace, warriors train, and maintain safety. Soldiers are guardians." His words bounced off the trees, reverberating deep in his chest. His voice was toned dark, deep and hardened by many years of his life--which greatly resembled a raging, rapid-filled river in his memory now--but he was also calm and wise.

The Dauntless may not have been simple, but the queen certainly was. So many would have scoffed at the idea of letting a stranger walk across the borders, knowing nothing about him other than that he was huge, had a dog, and was a warrior. And yet, the queen felt at ease with her actions; perhaps she was even happier than some others. Distrusting others took energy and caused stress. Kahlua was much happier to trust them first and discover she was wrong later. It may not have been the best philosophy for a leader, but surely Lady Moon had known what the paint's heart looked like when she had named her lead.

“Forgive me,” she responded to his request for her title, it honestly having slipped her mind. Besides, it took some thought. She could no longer call herself Glazier, as she had done for so long. “Kahlua the Sunshower,” she tried the title out, listening to the way it sounded in the air and rolled off her tongue. Yes, she liked it... no, she loved it. Humility had never been her finest quality anyways. “Queen of the Edge, alongside Kaj the Stormbringer.” A faint smirk, playful and gentle, tugged at the corners of her lips.

As for his answer, the queen found it more than satisfactory. He was a man that had come here with a purpose and with the experience to back his request. Surely he would be a fine addition to the Edge. As for becoming Captain... his voice certainly reverberated off the trees with such a commanding quality that the paint herself found herself drawing her body a little taller and standing a little straighter. Much like herself, he had the sort of presence that could not be ignored. She found that she liked him already, although it was not difficult for her to do.

“If you like our ideals, you're more than welcome to join us, Dauntless. The special emphasis on his name was really for fun rather than any particular meaning and the joyous girl broke into animated laughter, tossing her mane as her blue eyes sparkled in the sun. Perhaps she should have controlled herself, tried to be more contained so as not to scare the beast off, and yet... what for? If he wanted to be here he would stay, and if not he would run. It was as simple as that.
